Primary election Tuesday, Sept. 14

It's primary election day, and voters throughout the area will help determine the look of the new state Legislature. In many cases, whoever is elected in this election will go on to win by default in the general election in November, as no opponents have filed for office.

Service contracts an issue in sheriff's race

Two-term incumbent Waukesha County Sheriff Dan Trawicki is being challenged by three opponents in the Sept. 14 primary election.

Six in race for trustee spots

Three more trustee candidates have come forward for the inaugural Village of Summit municipal election since last week. Incumbents of the interim Village Board Kraig Arenz Sr., Jim Breen and Scott Piefer have all filed and join fellow incumbent Patrick Clifford and challengers Dave Zimmerman and Jerald Haerle in the race for four trustee spots.

Lawmaker squares off against trustee

The race for the 33rd State Senate seat, which features a veteran state lawmaker against a Sussex trustee, will likely be decided in the Sept. 14 Republican primary, as there is currently no Democratic challenger.

Pridemore faces primary challenge

Challengers for the 99th Assembly District vying against Don Pridemore say their availability and emphasis on more government control at the local level are what differs them most from the incumbent. Pridemore will face his first state primary for the 99th seat against Republican challengers James Batzko and Scott Henke.

Village of Summit — The inaugural Village of Summit municipal election could be an uncontested race for trustees unless more candidates register and file nomination papers by the 5 p.m. deadline on Monday, Aug. 30.

City of Delafield — Four Republican candidates for the state Legislature exchanged ideas about how to help Lake Country small businesses during a two-hour candidates' forum at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy campus sponsored by Lake Country and Mukwonago Publications Tuesday, Aug. 10.
