To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women. Conan the Barbarian
I’m more interested in what happens after the election and how we liberals, conservatives, progressives, and the rest whom have been against Scott Walker are going to be treated.
If you believe the polls, Tom Barret and the rest of us who will vote against Scott Walker will lose tomorrow.
- Will Walker, the Walker backing WI supreme court, and the Pro-Walker legislature, with the support of JS communications and it’s mouthpieces (620 WTMJ, Journal Sentinel and LLC), crush us while we are routed, to plunge a dagger into us to kill us off?
“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.” Conan the Barbarian
- Or will Walker and Walker supporters be graceful and offer an olive branch to the loser in a bid to work together?
“Hey, I’ll buy you a beer!”, “Let’s talk the rest of this out.”
But this is what is going to happen, because what we have witnessed before this recall election by the legislation enacted into law:
If Walker wins and the Republicans can keep the state senate I would expect that Milwaukee and other non-Walker strongholds and anti-Walker voting demographics in this state have not seen anything yet as far as the legislation attacking them; The executive branch with the backup of the WI supreme court is going to do all it can to use state government to punish and crush the opposition.
Let’s face it I, a liberal; I am a scapegoat and my city is a scapegoat, women, immigrants, teachers, public workers, unions both public and private, and minorities. We are all scapegoats, lynched as the reason for the cause of all the problems within our state.
“"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up." Martin Niemöller
Which group will be the next scapegoat in Wisconsin and whored as an excuse to justify new legislation to suppress those that oppose and those that may in the future?
Congrats Walkerites! Victory, Forward, I think?
I have to admit, I have never seen such discipline before and what laser focus, I guess that is what makes conservatives and Republicans strong; the ability to conform and stay on focus.
I also hope you enjoyed the slap that women gave Tom Barret (even though I agree with her in the sense that Barret shouldn’t have conceded until 100% of the votes were in), it must have provided a good laugh. It makes Barret look even more sad and pathetic. No bother to show sympathy for the man, I know how much little empathy it must take to be a right-winger.
I also would like to thank you for making the city I live in the major scapegoat and the people who live in it to attack Barret, rarely does Milwaukee get so much concentrated scorne in such a short period of time. You thank you, for at least caring a little, even if it was bile and spite.
So now that you continue your love for Strong Autocratic Leader by Gov. Scott Walker dictating with the help of his rubberstamp cronies in the Assembly and the Senate (let’s assume the millions you get from non-taxpaying billionaires that you serve will buy the senate again in November). Let’s also not forget that you own through the WMC the WI Supreme Court. Let’s also not forget political appointee henchman like DNR Cathy Stepp and all the other technocrat positions turned into political crony positions by Walker to exercise and move the ideology forward, your WAR against liberals and the left. Oh! late add, thanks the hated liberal Milwaukee JS, 620 WTMJ and the entire JS communications media empire for helping your cause as well. Just face it the JS is conservative, you can't use the JS as crutch all you have is the Shepard Express.
Yet after all this I still want your opinion. I want to know what you want from Walker and the Republicans in the future. You guys almost have 100% of the power in state government, and nearly have 100% power in most non-Urban areas. Except for Madison, Milwaukee, Northwest WI, and a few other areas, you own the state. Republicans and conservatives almost have a free ride on what you want to do and shape this State into whatever you feel fit.
I’ll start with a few:
- Do you think that residency requirements for Milwaukee Fire Fighters and Police (not the rest of public employees mind you) be rescinded by State Republicans? If so should these same requirements in other municipalities for the rest of the state, like Waukesha?
- Do you think the Michigan Emergency Manager Law powers should be given to Scott Walker?
- How will the infrastructure (virtual, structural, & etc…) in WI be created to create job growth to the level of 250,000 by the end of Walker’s term? Not only the number but quality of family supporting jobs? And if Walker can not do this, will you blame him, or pass the buck to others? You do own 100% of the state.
- Would you support a Florida style voter purge?
- Would you support Milwaukee and Dane counties being dissolved by the state to separate the cities from the more conservative towns in the county?
I want to know since taxpayers and your ideology dominate and are in 100% control of the State and its future what you want and what you have planned for the rest of us?

Being self-sufficient is not a partisan ideology
You prize yourself as being self-sufficient, you pay your bills, buy your food, but those darn taxes are getting in the way from allowing you from being independent and those regulations and permits you have just get in your way.
You use yourself as an example and say that you take nothing from the government and stand 100% on your own and in fact you, like a champion, rise above everyone else; as Atlas, shrugged off the influence of government power.
You say we should all be like you the less you have to depend on other’s, your neighbors, friends, and family, you do them a favor and they will do you the favor and leave you alone and fend for themselves.
The less money will be stolen from your hard work to those moochers in Milwaukee. To be free from helping others via government taxes, shall set them all free. Free from the re-distribution of wealth at least to those lower than you. To be like you, free from your fellow American.
From the roads you drive on to the digital cable you pay for, to the apple and pork you buy at the supermarket is all made possible by Federal and State and local governments and the taxpayers before you and most at a higher rate than you now.
Blaming taxes and government as the reason you can not be more self-sufficient is an excuse.
The Tax payers before you provided the infrastructure; that you let crumble, to subsidize the food you eat and the trinkets from China that you buy. It does not make you less dependent if you can buy one more extra new York strip steak that came from a private enterprise commercial feed lot in Colorado, in which food eaten by said cows is subsidized by the government, to the energy you get through the socket, to the gas you put in the car to the foundations of the economy. Our market is not free and it never was, it is regulated and winner’s and losers are picked by the influence of the most powerful lobbies of private enterprise and their monetary influence over politicians; A common theme throughout history; the rich and powerful in control of government, the rest of us just riff-raff to serve their interests.
Being able to buy more, to consume more, to spend more does not make a person more independent or self-sufficient but in fact it makes you more dependent. The taxes you pay to the government subsidize the lifestyle you enjoy now, not just the so called moocher’s you blame. Your hard earned money that you pay for a product from a giant corporation, feeds the government systems you dislike.
The answer to being independent of government and the corporate/wealthy monopoly is to provide for yourself and your family outside the system, and not being able to amass more in it.
Hunting & fishing is a good example. I am no outdoorsman but I am a good car camper, but I respect the hunter for doing the work, in the end they provide good healthy protein source for their families outside the system of forced grain fed beef in feed lots. Cattle have to be fed antibiotics because grain makes them get ulcers that get infected and are likely to die before they are big enough to butcher.
Gardening and growing your own food, or buying your veggies from the farmer’s market were the food is locally sourced and usually grown in a 100 mile radius; Buying humanely raised meats and poultry from local producers free of most chemicals, if you do not have the ability or the want to raise your own. Buying hand crafted and artisanal products from soaps to candles put you outside the system.
Canning, freezing, drying, and root cellaring your own vegetables. Not wasting food, do you know that American’s waste on average 40% of the food on their plates a year?
Conserving the energy you use and water. Harvest rain water to water your veggies and flowers. Use CFL bulbs, motion detectors, insulate and caulk your windows. You can even by heat regulators for your shower head that shuts the water off at a certain temperature so you do not waste hot water before you shower. Reduce a faucet flow rate from 2.2 gpm to 1.5 gpm and save water. Put in a double flush toilet or get an anti-siphon. If you can afford solar or wind, sell your excess to the energy monopoly.
Brew your own beer and wine. Buy a bread maker; make no rise bread from scratch. Make your own cheese. Re-purpose things you already have. Have some old wood or a fence; make a raised garden bed with them or a cold frame. Make shelving units for storage.
Trade your homebrew for some venison (any takers)?
Most of these things take you outside the corporate consumer culture, energy monopolies, and government control and in the end make YOU more self-sufficient. Buying foods and consumables from local growers and artists, or doing it yourself, creates a counter system to the established government/corporate status quo.
