"You're a Bad Player!"
On her TV show, Ellen Degeneres asked guest Aaron Rodgers what opposing players said to him during a hard-fought game. He answered, "They usually say something like, 'You're a bad player.'" Well, poor Scott Walker ran headlong, blindly into a "bad player" in the person of liberal blogger Ian Murphy who rather clumsily impersonated billionaire Republican-and specifically Walker-supporter David Koch. He asked an apparently clueless Walker a series of leading entrapment-questions and made several outrageous comments, all of which Walker incredibly responded to. The result is an embarrassing illegal tape of the conversation which has gone viral.
In Gov. Walker's defense, Koch, who was not known to him personally, was a staunch and generous supporter of the Guv during his campaign, and you do not bite the hand that feeds you, especially in politics. Hence, Walker appears to have tip-toed through this bizarre conversation, bending backwards to kiss up to his supposed benefactor. This is politics, folks. It runs on campaign money. Politicians from Obama to Bush to Doyle to Walker, et al, are very cognizant of the importance of financial support. Without it, no-one gets elected to major office.
If you listen to/read what was said, it is pretty obvious Walker was kissing the (ring) of Mr. phony-Koch, careful not to disagree or offend. Thus, when Murphy/Koch suggested the use of disrupters mixed in with the demonstrators, Walker responded that thay had considered that and discarded the idea, not as ethically and morally unpalatable, but potentially counter-productive. (I don't know for a fact that Walker would seriously consider hired guns to disrupt a generally peaceful demonstration, but what I know of him from a good friend who knows him personally, he's a pretty decent guy and definitely not stupid [except apparently on the phone].)
Likewise, the parting shot of Murphy/Koch about "crushing those (bleep)" and being flown to California for a "good time," something an experienced politician like Walker must know is clearly illegal, should have, in the eyes of numerous pundits, engendered an outraged response on Walker's part. Instead, it elicited a wishy-washy: "All right, that would be outstanding." What should he have said? "Listen, David, that is illegal and unethical, and I resent your language and insulting invitation which I summarily reject!" Uh, right.
Not in this day and age of money-soaked campaigns. As in all things, context is everything.
As Shakespeare said, "'Tis a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
P.S. Don't bother trying to phone Governor Walker. I understand he's not taking any more calls.

The tape is not illegal as long as it was acquiesced to by one party, in this case the blogger.
As long as one party is OK with it, the tape is legal. Ask any lawyer.
Walker was thought of as a buffoon, and he was kind enough to provide proof.

He would have gained my respect had he done anything even close to that, but he didn't so no cigar...
This is politics, folks. It runs on campaign money."
And obviously all Walker cares about is donations for his next campaign and not showing back bone and/or .
What gets me the most about this conversation is his willingness to make his campaign contributor happy. All the voice on phone had to say was "beautiful" and he couldn't spit out everything he was doing for his sugar daddy fast enough.

What the Mortgage industry did in the early 2000's Doyle and Obama did in 2006-2010. This is what has hastened their demise in 2010 and will in 2012. It's greed. Pure and simple. Walker is going to fix it because he has no alternative. Walker is showing backbone and he is not going to back down. He may manufacture some cover for these 14 idiots to come back to Wisconsin, but I guarantee that a majority of them will not get re-elected. That is if they have the guts to run. You chuckle-heads can blame Wall Street for the recession, but take a peek in the mirror and your looking at what sustained the public corruption for the past 8 years in the state of Wisconsin.

Since it was over Skype, which is internet, I actually think that none of the taping rules apply.

What is in front of my eyes is a broke state that has been living off the future for decades, a state government that has grown used to spending more then it takes in, always banking on a better future and never planning for that rainy day and after the downpour has found a good scapegoat in the public unions because if you believe this is the core of our budget woes you are very misguided . I'm not going to praise Doyle he did next to nothing to clean up the mess left him by Thompson/McCallum. Raising the tobacco tax was a responsible move since the lawsuit royalty checks were gone.
I just wonder if the state is ready for property tax reassessment once the housing market finally hits bottom....that is when the budget is going to get really ugly.

Captian: I don't suggest Walker is a saint, just a pretty good politician. From his history as Milwaukee County Executive combatting a corrupt County Board run by that crook Holloway, you folks should not be surprised at the resolve he is displaying. He will never back down. He was gullible and not too sharp on this phone call. But as a today politician, the fact is you survive on campaign contributions. We may not like it, and I don't, but that's the way it is all the way up to the White House.
Carl: The problem Walker is taking on is the excessive power of public service unions--repeat, PUBLIC SERVICE unions--in "negotiating" ("demanding") wage and benefit perks from compliant government negotiators who failed to responsibly represent the taxpayers. Walker is trying to put limits on that power and the ox is bellowing. Since wages have been somewhat held down by tax restrictions, benefits are the 800-pound gorilla. Remember, it's always about the money.
yert: I agree. Doyle also cashed in the tobacco settlement for a lesser lump sum to balance--one time--his bloated budget. Thanks for the comments.

If the blogger was speeding and walker shot him dead in cold blood, the wack-o's would be talking about the speeding ticket that the blogger should get and they'd be completely blind to the murder rap.
That's what happens when you watch WWF-style television programming where they attempt to get convince you the country is in danger because of one minority with a stick.

decent guy and definitely not stupid"
I have a good friend who actually worked for Walker. He thinks Walker is a lying
a-hole. According to politifact my friend is correct ... about the lying part that is. I
think we can all agree that there's nothing decent about lying no less than six
times in the last 32 days: http://politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/
So much for the value of a friend's opinion.
Just curious, how many of your good friends hold fast to the erroneous belief that
Obama was not born in America?
