Congressman Paul Ryan - a voice of common sense.
Wisconsinites have so many reasons to be proud of Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Janesville). Ryan continues to be a voice of common sense among all the nonsense currently coming out of Washington D.C. Amid all the smoke-and-mirrors and double-speak from President Obama regarding our economic crisis (while offering no solutions), Ryan understands what the government needs to do in order to return the country to prosperity.
Recently Ryan wrote a column for Investors Business Daily (5/16/11) in which he points out what he calls the "Four Pro-Growth Axioms to avert shared scarcity."
They are as follows:
1. We have to stop spending money we don't have, and address the structural drivers of our debt.
2. We have to restore common sense to the regulatory environment, so that regulations are fair, transparent and predictable.
3. We have to keep tax rates low and predictable, so that job creators have incentives to invest in America.
4. We have to refocus the Fed on price stability, instead of using monetary stimulus to bail out Washington's failures. Businesses and families need sound money.
Exactly.
Ryan's article goes on to address the perspective coming directly out of Washington, D.C. - that we must all share in our burdens via, of course, the usual Democratic solution to anything - raising taxes. This is wrong. We cannot continue to spend money we do not have and continue to take more money from hard working Americans just to keep spending. This is a vicious cycle, with no end in sight. It has to stop. We need to be fiscally responsible - otherwise America is doomed. We ARE approaching the tipping point of disaster.
Ryan continues with views shared by most in our country: that America IS an exceptional nation. Unfortunately, President Obama, the Democrats, and many liberals seem to have a difficult time understanding this. They fail to believe that American ingenuity, creativity, hard work, personal responsibility, and jobs are the real answer to our economic crisis - and are part of the foundation that makes the United States a great country. Instead, many on the left would like to see government grow. They think that government needs to take care of us - government knows best. And in turn, the government then perpetuates an "entitlement mentality" that is detrimental to the country (but helps assure votes for those giving the hand-outs. After all, when government is giving you a check for doing nothing, would you want the gravy train to stop?)
Let the private sector flourish - don't continue to point to big business - or middle business - or small business - as the enemy. Private sector jobs make the country successful. Aside from the public vs. private sector mentality that President Obama is so fond of evoking, he also tends to pit the poor against the rich. Why? Why does Obama continue to perpetuate the myth that our economy is some sort of stagnant pie? If someone has more, they must have taken it from someone else? That is not true. As I have stated in several other blogs, the economic pie is not stagnant. Someone isn't rich because someone else is poor. Rather, that person who has more has usually worked for it. They have not "taken" from someone else to get where they are. What is so great and wonderful about America is that everyone can succeed - if they want to. There are no limits.
Representative Ryan is one who really understands what has to happen in order for the United States to return to true economic prosperity and get back on track. Unfortunately, Representative Paul Ryan probably will not run for the presidency in 2012. If Ryan did, Obama wouldn't stand a chance. Obama's fluff wouldn't stand up against Ryan's substance. However, we should take comfort in the fact that someone of Ryan's intelligence and integrity is one of the real leaders in Washington D.C. And maybe, just maybe, he'll change his mind and run for President...

"We choose to fight the Vietnam war and all that it entails. We choose to eliminate poverty and to wipe out the responsibility that a black man shouild feel for his family. We will keep the welfare state alive until you feel so guilty that it turns into a victim society. You are not responsible for anything. You cannot alter your course in life so just lay back and take it. Human life should be equal or less then a dog's life".
We choose to scare the elderly or anyone else that wants to remove the shackles of big government by lying, cheating, or running away from our sworn duty. We have no shame. We don't care. It should be about the kids, the family, or the poor, but we will hide behind them and advocate for them only if it leads to our long-term power. How ya like me now?

Herein lies the divide. Tell me, how many who live in poverty, which is at an alltime high, has made it out of poverty getting paid by the government? Get off your dead arses and get a job! No jobs you say? Why would that be? Oh, I don't know, maybe business owners are scared to death to hire anybody right now, for fear of our current administration and it's policies. They have no incentive to grow, knowing the time, effort, and money spent is just not worth it in the long run. Keep going after business and the rich, and they too, will soon give up.
Bottom line, when you fill this country with record amounts of poor, and you fill the White House and Congress with people who are advocates for entitlement programs, poverty will continue to explode.
And that ladies and gentlemen, is exactly how Obama will get re-elected.

Just a friendly reminder that "bamaphd" has been banned, and just ignore whatever this person has to say. It isn't worth the effort.
As for the blog topic, I sure wish that Representative Ryan would consider a run for the presidency. If he were to throw his hat in the ring, I think he would win. As for his concern about spending more time with his family, as President that would be a much better fit than what he has now. Please be sure to e-mail or call his office(s) directly and implore him to run in 2012. If America is to return to a land of prosperity and greatness, it will not be under Obama's watch. We need a true leader. And Ryan has shown leadership and intelligence that go beyond anything Obama has to offer.

Last Oct I took two disabled people on a hunt. One a child from PA with a disease that will end his life before he sees adulthood. The other was an elderly gentleman, who is partially crippled, and who served under Carter's judicial system and helped with his first campaign. He wrote one of Reagan's policies and helped Bush 1 in his first presidential campaign as well. I spent three days driving one hour each way to and from our hunting grounds with the elderly hunter. His centrist belief is why he may be correct.
Obama has the greatest base for reelection. He said he has a lock on the blacks and most other minorities no matter what happens. A good economy will create jobs for Obama’s base and a bad economy will allow Obama to tease with the free handouts. Obama will engage and get the immigrant votes, especially illegals, while keeping strong the hardcore liberal vote. With the students not too happy with the job situation, that might hurt Obama’s second term. But unlikely. If you do the math, that’s about 44-45% of the voters. However, all he needs to do is hold on to around 10% of the independents. And he wins a close race. And that is why the best of the Repubs will not enter the race. They can’t win.

honest about his intentions. All he cares about is privatizing 100% of our economy, it's
people like him that cause bubles and recessions. While I agree that it is time to rethink
the amount of money we spend as a people ( government) I disagree "entitlement" are
the place to start. We must be honest with our selves and stop the rolercoaster ride that
trickle down economics and tax cuts have brought us. Real fiscal policy based upon
responcable tax codes (progressive) along with a more reasonable military budget would
be a great start. Throw in a universal healthcare system and real bank reform and we
could be on our way to another "American century." If we continue to cut revenu and try
to "starve the beast" no one will like the outcome. And Jim did you read you last post
before you posted it, that is just a rasist rant trying to justify another round if bad
republican choices for president.

Your beliefs on economics are what made this country depressed ! Then you had to
bring up some wacko opinion on racism . For goodness sake grow up and stop
projecting your racism on others !

I'd like to offer that spending money you don't have causes the economy to tank. That, along with targeting the private sector with rules and regulations and taxes that are an incentive NOT to grow and hinder productivity in the long run.
When with the tax-and-spend crowd wake up? Promoting entitlements (i.e. handing out taxpayer money and expecting nothing in return) is NOT the answer. Promoting an entitlement mentality, where people expect the government to take care of them goes against everything America was built upon. And right now, when almost 50% of our population doesn't even pay federal taxes, how can we be expected to continue to dole out free money - taking from one group to give to another - and not eventually collapse?
Shouldn't we be promoting Ryan's vision of "shared prosperity" rather than Obama's socialist view of "shared scarcity?"
Get America back on track. Stop the spending madness. Become fiscally responsible. Start with scrapping "Obamacare" and begin from square one. Promote - rather than bash - the private sector. Shrink the size of government!
Proud Progressive - May 24, 2011 11:13 AM
programs like Medicare. To your point about the "private sector" and regulations, it the
"leave them alone" mentality that has cause bubbles in th first place. Intelligent
regulation that protects consumers, the enviorment and labor are good for every one in
the long run. Also it about time we all realize that a job is a job and some facets of
society are better served by the government rather than the private sector where profits
drive decisions rather than public good.
irked - May 24, 2011 2:03 PM
are you in school yet ? You have yet to show me one Socialistic society that is
relevant ! We all know many that have tried . and failed . Can you please name one
that was purely capitalistic ? You started these questions but you are the one not
answering them . Not one person says top totally deregulate !! But you keep saying
this . Quote that person please ? It is either all or none for you . Why not decrease
the problems that the over regulation has and is causing ?
