Shame! Shame! Shame!
First we get protests ala the 1960's, disrupting the legislative process in Madison for days on end.
Then, 14 Democratic Senators, who fled the state rather than doing their jobs, are "honored" by the anti-Walker crowd upon their return to Wisconsin.
Now we get anti-Walker "zombies" blocking the views of Special Olympians while Governor Scott Walker was giving a speech honoring the athletes...
When Governor Jim Doyle and the Democratic majority were running the state into ruin, did Republicans and conservatives erect a "Doyleville" and camp out in tents outside the capitol? Did Republicans and conservatives unhappy with the tax-and-spend M.O. of the Doyle Administration flee the state or disrupt proceedings in the capitol on a daily basis? No. We accepted the fact that elections have consequences and we waited until the next election cycle to change things for the better. And now we have six Republican representatives facing recall elections FOR DOING THEIR JOBS. Many on the left cannot show any respect or a level of decency in regards to the November election results. They are like pouty children. As exhibited by disrupting an event honoring Special Olympians.
What else can one say except Shame! Shame! Shame!

Now I really can’t wait to hear from the Dems on this site to see what they think of this type of protest. You all claim to be PC is this PC is all about?
It’s all about the kid’s right?
Who in their right mind would do such a thing?
Do you think this was the time and place for such a weird type of protest.
What about all of the kids there to participate and what about their families?
Don’t they matter to any of you. Don’t they have the right to listen to the Governor without twisted sick nuts interrupting his talking with them?
I really can’t wait to hear from them. And let me say something there are many people out there that are in different to what’s going on right now Just keep up the good work cuz you’re your opening up a lot of eyes that did not pay attention months ago and are now starting to see just how strange and twisted your party really is.
I don’t think making the National news using these tactics is going to help your case for much longer.
Have a nice funeral.

against the bile and hate and racism of the right. Not once. In fact, you encouraged
it with your posts on how just anti-patriotic left leaning Americans are.
You are shameful woman who has no right to call anyone out on their behavior.
Hypocrite!

And if the truth hurts democratic victory, to bad. Grow up and take your electoral beating like the perpetual victim that you are.

How we do the business side of funding our schools has to change. Change is hard for everybody and no one has cornered the market on feeling for kids with special needs. Their vulnerability touches everyone. And for the life of me, I don't get what these so-called protesters thought they were trying to accomplish at their Special Olympics. Maybe they'll start hitting funerals next.

What news organization did you get this from?
The main organizer has denied this was their intent but E-mails and Facebook text has shown him to be a complete liar.
Students have come forward and shown the media his E-mails telling them exactly what to do.
It’s all over his Facebook page
There was one and only one mother that the Journal talked to who said it did not bother her because of how she feels toward Walker.
I cannot believe you come on here give excuses and then go on to say every party has fringe idiots.
Then you go on to say it’s because of the voucher plan.
This was a commencement for those involved this wasn’t a political rally nor did it have one thing to do with politics.
This was no place for a bunch of mentally challenged in a different way to protest at this function.
How High do you have to be to do something like this and the say it’s a protest?
They could have protested anywhere in the city but No they had to do it here.
What about the gentle man who put this all together what about his lying.
Your trying in vain to make this look innocent by saying I can see why they did it.
Like I said keep up the great work your only burying your self’s for the future.
So this is the all New Democratic Party?
Unbelievable.

Did I say I approved of their actions? No. Did I say I might understand why they did it? Yes. Are you able to open your narrow mind to comprehend any other opinion than your own? No.
Tom Bal - Jun 10, 2011 1:48 PM
Not when it comes to something like this.
A narrow mind would be to come on and say I can see why they have done it.
That’s just towing the party line at any cost Reffy
Where does it end with your party Ref?
Is there a line that you people will not cross and if so what is it?
How low can you go?
Did you see the local news this morning Ref did you listen to anyone about what they have discovered Ref?
This isn’t an option Ref this is a reaction to disgusting people doing disgusting things.
Apparently you feel the need to make excuses for them.
So no big surprise there “Buddy”.

Well if you can see that I think there’ something wrong with you.
And just because you don’t claim to be a member of a party means nothing.
Comments and your options speak enough for most.
You did defend them by saying I can see why they did it.
Explain how this is not defending them.

These are disabled kids that did not deserve to experience this. Protesters have a right to protest, but not at the expense of what was a ceremony to honor the disadvantaged. There is a time and place for everything, and this was the wrong place, and the wrong time.
What is happening started with 14 Democrat elected officials not fulfilling their obligations. Had the vote been taken when it was scheduled, much of the takeover of our capitol, the sleepin, disrupting people working at their jobs in the Capitol, and the Pizza Party, would not have happened. Unions who started the protests that led to University of Wisconsin turning this into a circus, deserve the SHAME, SHAME, SHAME they accuse others of.
For those who express excuses as Ref does for those who did this, SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

I can see why they picked this time and place.
First reason being Scotty boy was there...
Second reason being TV cameras were there...
A protest does little good if it goes unnoticed!
Just glad I'm not a union member or a democrat since I would be ashamed of this type of action if anyone I was afilliated with had done this.

And kudos to you for saying you would be ashamed of this type of behavior if anyone you were affiliated with had resorted to something this low.
What the protesting zombies did succeed in doing (besides making themselves look like insensitive fools) is bring more attention to just one of many exampes of uncivil and bad behaviors associated with many of the anti-Walker crowd in Madison. Sneaking into windows, propping open doors, defiling the capitol, camping out on the lawn (sure that will have to be repaired - yet again), shouting and blocking lawmakers from getting to their cars or into the capitol itself, disrupting the legislative process within the capitol by yelling and screaming and basically acting like spoiled children. And all for what? Anyone losing any jobs over Walker's proposed budget repair bill? NO. All public sector employees are being asked to do is pay for a teeny tiny portion of their own benefits. A teeny tiny portion that isn't even close to what private sector pays for their health insurance or saving plans. Many of the benefits the public sector receives don't even exist in the private sector anymore (like retirement packages or pensions). And freeing them from being beholden to unions and forced to pay union dues whether they want to or not. Welcome to the real world.

@Amy - Who here has offered an excuse? I offered a possible motivation for their actions, but that does not excuse them. Don't you wonder why they did what they did? Or do you just condemn without attempting to understand the why? Tell me how do you convert someone to your way of thinking if you don't understand how they arrived at their present view.
