I thought this was just disgusting the way they chose this time and place to have Zombies protest the Governor.
Now I really can’t wait to hear from the Dems on this site to see what they think of this type of protest. You all claim to be PC is this PC is all about?
It’s all about the kid’s right?
Who in their right mind would do such a thing?
Do you think this was the time and place for such a weird type of protest.
What about all of the kids there to participate and what about their families?
Don’t they matter to any of you. Don’t they have the right to listen to the Governor without twisted sick nuts interrupting his talking with them?
I really can’t wait to hear from them. And let me say something there are many people out there that are in different to what’s going on right now Just keep up the good work cuz you’re your opening up a lot of eyes that did not pay attention months ago and are now starting to see just how strange and twisted your party really is.

Personally, I would like an example of "the bile and hate and racism of the right" during the '08 election. I have seen plenty of examples of hate of the left so far in 2011, this protest of Special Olympics being one example.

A spokesperson for Special Olympics said the protest was not disruptive. The organizers of the protest said they did not back that protest. It appears that the individuals involved acted on their own and they alone should be held responsible for their actions. Each political party has it's own idiots on the fringe. These clowns fit that classification to a "T". I do not condone their action, but I can possibly understand why they chose that particular venue to protest. The education reforms that the Gov has put in place include a voucher plan to allow more students to attend private schools with taxpayer funds. Very few private schools have the personnel or facilities to handle the individuals that participate in Special Olympics. They are stuck in the public school system, that is being defunded greatly by the Gov plan.

ref, why not take those funds earmarked for special ed and start sending it to the private schools as well. Public schools make a ton of money off of these kids and the notion that only public schools can handle them is disingenuous at best. The care and compassion that a child with "special needs" has, is not exclusive to public schools.

How we do the business side of funding our schools has to change. Change is hard for everybody and no one has cornered the market on feeling for kids with special needs. Their vulnerability touches everyone. And for the life of me, I don't get what these so-called protesters thought they were trying to accomplish at their Special Olympics. Maybe they'll start hitting funerals next.

The main organizer has denied this was their intent but E-mails and Facebook text has shown him to be a complete liar.
Students have come forward and shown the media his E-mails telling them exactly what to do.

There was one and only one mother that the Journal talked to who said it did not bother her because of how she feels toward Walker.

These protesters used very bad judgement in protesting at this event - that's a given. No body is trying to defend their actions. But there needs to be some answers from them as to the "why". "Is there a line that you people will not cross"? Just exactly who is -"you people"? Is that anyone who doesn't think like you do?

Please explain how "I can possibly understand" morphs into "I can see why they did it". One is a statement that conveys doubts and the other is a definite statement. Stop putting your interpretations and assumptions into words that you attribute to me.

It was disgraceful what these students did, both to themselves and their parents. From the clip, and what I saw on national cable news, it appears that many of those carrying signs were not students.
These are disabled kids that did not deserve to experience this. Protesters have a right to protest, but not at the expense of what was a ceremony to honor the disadvantaged. There is a time and place for everything, and this was the wrong place, and the wrong time.
What is happening started with 14 Democrat elected officials not fulfilling their obligations. Had the vote been taken when it was scheduled, much of the takeover of our capitol, the sleepin, disrupting people working at their jobs in the Capitol, and the Pizza Party, would not have happened. Unions who started the protests that led to University of Wisconsin turning this into a circus, deserve the SHAME, SHAME, SHAME they accuse others of.
For those who express excuses as Ref does for those who did this, SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

DemocraticVictory: I would love to hear of the examples of "bile, hate, and racism" coming from some on the right during the 2008 elections. What a joke. Anytime anyone speaks out against Obama - it's deemed racist. Anytime anyone stands up against what the Dems are doing they are somehow "hate-filled." The Tea Party people were very well-behaved and exhibited a leve of decorum missing from much of what is currently going on by the unionistas and libs camping out in Madison. And this most recent demonstration by "zombies" during a Special Olympics ceremony is indefensible. I agree with geno 53151 that those who express ANY excuses for this behavior could be addressed with "shame shame shame!"

Carl Hicks: There is a time and place for everything. A celebration for the Special Olympics, no matter that Governor Scott Walker was there, was neither the time nor the place for a group of protestors to politicize an event like this and act like idiots.
And kudos to you for saying you would be ashamed of this type of behavior if anyone you were affiliated with had resorted to something this low.

What the protesting zombies did succeed in doing (besides making themselves look like insensitive fools) is bring more attention to just one of many exampes of uncivil and bad behaviors associated with many of the anti-Walker crowd in Madison. Sneaking into windows, propping open doors, defiling the capitol, camping out on the lawn (sure that will have to be repaired - yet again), shouting and blocking lawmakers from getting to their cars or into the capitol itself, disrupting the legislative process within the capitol by yelling and screaming and basically acting like spoiled children. And all for what? Anyone losing any jobs over Walker's proposed budget repair bill? NO. All public sector employees are being asked to do is pay for a teeny tiny portion of their own benefits. A teeny tiny portion that isn't even close to what private sector pays for their health insurance or saving plans. Many of the benefits the public sector receives don't even exist in the private sector anymore (like retirement packages or pensions). And freeing them from being beholden to unions and forced to pay union dues whether they want to or not. Welcome to the real world.

@Carl - Shame on you for making an excuse for the protesters. You must approve of their actions, because you found a reason why they protested where and when they did. You obviously are a liberal Democrat, don't bother to try to tell us otherwise, we know better.
@Amy - Who here has offered an excuse? I offered a possible motivation for their actions, but that does not excuse them. Don't you wonder why they did what they did? Or do you just condemn without attempting to understand the why? Tell me how do you convert someone to your way of thinking if you don't understand how they arrived at their present view.
