June's passing left a deep chasm in Johnny that is echoed in his "American Recordings" almost foretelleing of his passing, and with his passing, a chasm is left in all of us.
Reagan was a great president who left office in the nick of time (health isssues).
Bob Hope? Meh. Althought he *DID* make it as a GI Joe (http://www.kibo.com/photos/toys_3_inaction_figures/).

Oh, how I long for the good old days ... :-D

Just like Romney will.

As for Barry O., Newt Gingrich made an excellent point: any one of the Republican candidates for president is better than who is in office now!!!
MGarber - Sep 08, 2011 2:06 PM
Thats not what Oliver North said.
Come on, show a little intellectual honesty. No there was no "smoking gun", but the odds that he knew were pretty good.
PS. I used to love Ann Coulter. Before she went nuts. (http://scienceblogs.com/dispatches/2011/07/insane_quote_of_the_day_3.php, for example).
But lets get back to the original topic. What is *YOUR* favorite J Cash tune?
WFB resident - Sep 08, 2011 2:09 PM
about ? What about now ??? If Reagan was bad , why are you not ousting your
savior ? lol.... uummmmmddddaaaaaaaaaa... Remember when the earth was flat
? uummmmdddaaaaaaa......

I disagree that Ann Coulter is nuts. She is very intelligent and has a wonderful, sarcastic sense of humor. And she is a conservative - which is why lefties hate her so much.
As for my favorite Cash tunes, I'd have to say "Ring of Fire" and "I Walk the Line." Although there are many more that I enjoy. Cash was one of the great ones - along with Waylon Jennings. Used to like Willie Nelson, but he's just too much of a grizzled old hippie pot-head who doesn't pay his taxes!!! :)

PS. He's caught up on his taxes now.

What a welcome sight that would be! :-)
"And she is a conservative - which is why lefties hate her so much."- Hemmer
David Frum is a conservative. Do lefties go around hating him? ... no ... why not?
... because he's intellectually honest and not fearful of criticizing his own.
This couldn't be any more timely:
"Republicans take the “like Reagan” principle so far that they have even come to
valorize Reagan’s flaws. Reagan achieved great political success despite his
sometimes shaky grasp on facts and despite his disengagement from the details
of governance.
In subsequent years, those failings associated with Reagan (failings that nearly
brought down his presidency during the Iran-Contra scandal of 1986), have been
promoted into irrelevancies – or outright merits."
http://www.frumforum.com/in-the-shadow-of-ronald-reagan
David Frum is a conservative worthy of respect. Ann Coulter is an extremist
whose primary interest is making gobs of money from the sale of her tawdry
books.
"old hippie pot-head"
The truth of the matter is Johnny Cash had his own love affair with drugs, which
was depicted in the biographical movie "Walk the Line". Great flick!
Take it away Johnny!:

I assummed that Amy's issue with Willie was the "old" part.

25 years ago we also had the Iran-Contra affair. In the context of our never ending
'war against terrorism', imagine how that would go over today.
Pelosi don’t you watch the news we did have this a couple of months ago.
Why Our Federal Government gave the Mexican drug cartels over 1700 illegal guns.
Some of which have turned up killing our border patrol agents.
“The head of the agency that oversaw a botched attempt to track arms flowing to drug cartels in Mexico is being reassigned to Justice Department headquarters, the Obama administration said on Tuesday.
Kenneth Melson, who has been acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has been under fire and admitted mistakes in the sting operation meant to try to crack down on the flow of weapons to violent drug gangs. He will be reassigned to the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy as an adviser on forensic science, the Justice Department said. No mention of how many Mexicans have been slaughtered with these thousands of illegal firearms intentionally given to Mexico’s death squads by America’s government, but we’re now told that at least one U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed by a gun given to the drug cartels by the American government”
Seems to me you only remember what you want.
It’s called Liberal hearing infection.
So how would that go over today well I guess it would be swept under the rug and Promotions would be given out.

CEO of GE.
Laying off thousands here but moving medical imaging to China and creating jobs for the Chinese.
Mr. Immelt is the chair of President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
I’m sure that GE’s ability to generate $14.2 billion in profits, $5.1 billion in the US, and end up getting back $3.2 billion from taxpayers has nothing at all to do with its political connections and favorable tax breaks and loopholes it has pushed through Congress
No one is better prepared to discuss business taxes than the man who has gamed the system so well that his company doesn’t pay any at all. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.
Makes the phase going green take on a new light.

And I remember Reagan more for ending the Cold War and bringing America back to prosperity - and ending the malaise of the Carter years. Reagan turned this country around from the destructive path set by ole' Jimmy. The tiny blip of Iran-Contra (which the lefties and media tend to chant over and over anytime Reagan's name is mentioned) did not almost end Reagan's presidency. Good grief.
Johnny Cash did have a drug problem and ended up in prison for it. He also worked to kick it in later years. Quite a difference from a hippie of the 60's like Willie Nelson, who just cannot stop smoking pot and looks like he could use a shower. Or two or three. And Nelson has a lot in common with many in the Obama Administration, who seem tax-challenged when it comes to paying their taxes! At least Willie seems to be paid up...
Tom Bal - Sep 08, 2011 4:47 PM
While I don’t mind either Cash or Willie:
I love Johnny’s rendition of Hurt from 9 Inch Nails.
Lots of heart and soul put into it.
I’m sure when he sang it he was thinking back on his life and turbulence he lived through.
He turned into one decent person largely due to his wife June and of course God.
The video is special.
Makes ya think.
If you have never watched it I suggest you do.
It brings tears to your eyes at least for me it does. .

just give ! My problem with the willster is that he is a lover of himself like all hippies .
They do not care unless they have a personnel benefit from it . From fawning from
their fellow whiners . To making millions for lying and making movies .

Now we have companies maximizing profits by laying off Americans and building factories in other countries.
25 years ago we had a manufacturing base creating products made in the USA.
Now we have companies using technology developed here to create jobs in third world countries.
That says it all for me.
