9/11/01
It has been ten years since the horrific terrorist attacks and murders of thousands of innocent people at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.
Most of us probably remember what we were doing on that day. In our household, we had a television on and watched after a plane had hit one tower of the World Trade Center. As we observed this, we saw another plane slowly approach - and head straight for the second tower. Complete shock followed. Everywhere we went throughout the day, people were talking softly and appeared surprised. We seemed completely lost - unable to grasp what had occurred. Nothing like this had EVER happened to our country.
Fast forward ten years.
Since no major terrorist attack has occurred on American soil since that dark day, we as a nation must give credit where credit is due. When 9/11 happened, America really was ripe for the pickings. Little was done during the Clinton years to address the terrorist threat even though there had been several terrorist attacks during Clinton's tenure. The Clinton Administration treated terrorism as a criminal act. During this time, there were also major roadblocks in place that prevented federal, state and local agencies from working together regarding intelligence and information-sharing about terrorists and the potential threats they posed. In summary, the nation didn't treat terrorism seriously. Osama Bin Laden took advantage of this.
Since 9/11, President Bush and Vice-President Cheney made it their number one priority to protect Americans from another attack in the United States. They succeeded. Bush went even further - taking the fight to the terrorists. Who can forget his memorable words, standing among the smoldering remains of the WTC with one of the heroic firefighters, saying loud and clear:
,
Credit must also be giving to President Obama for not dismantling many of the tools the Bush Administration put in place to continue to keep America safe. The wars on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan proceeded - we have not given up the fight. Once Obama got into office, it was apparent that he had a lot to learn, and Obama did actually listen to those fighting the war on terror. Obama's dangerous promise to close Gitmo didn't become a reality. Obama's attempts to try captured terrorists in New York City was short-lived. The Patriot Act is still in place. The troops are still fighting the good fight. Osama Bin Laden was killed during Obama's watch - a huge coup for the American soldiers who risked their lives to accomplish such a feat and a benefit for us all to be rid of such an evil monster.
But we must never forget, nor grow complacent.
God bless the many people who sacrificed their lives to save others and worked tirelessly in the days after the attacks and beyond. God bless those who lost family, friends and co-workers on that fateful day as well as thousands who lost their lives. God bless the agencies who now work together to keep America safe. God bless the men and women in the military, risking their lives every day with many paying the ultimate price in order to ensure that we - American citizens - remain safe at home. God bless President Bush who made it his number one priority - in spite of eventual sagging poll numbers and open disrespect from Democrats and the media - to keep our country safe.
In closing, what a great feeling to repeat the screams of the crowd surrounding President Bush shortly after 9/11/01:
USA! USA! USA!

I'll never forget former President Clinton lamenting the fact that George Bush had September 11th to rally the American people around him. Unbelievibly narcissistic and selfish! I remember James "Serpent Head" Carville saying in a major speech that the Dumbocrats will have to go completely negative on Bush, oppose everything in Congress and do whatever they can to bring Bush down. Remember that Bush had a 90% approval rating at the time. They knew that the only way the Dumbs would survive is to go negative.
Then you have the like likes of that sniveling wimp, Paul Krugman, who, in today's NYT's said that Bush and Guliani exploited 9/11. Then, he would not allow any comments to his column. What a limp-wristed pussy.
I wish 9/11 would have never happened. At first we came together as a country. But what the Dumbs did in the aftermath was drad all of us into the lowest point in US history. The media bought in and more than half the american people bought in. It was and still is a reminder of the most selfish political act I've ever witnessed.

Sadly I think that Krugman's views are probably held by many liberals. On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, Krugman has shown no class whatsoever. If he hates this nation so much, why not leave?
Yert49 is correct in stating that after 9/11, people really came together as a nation. For a short time, at least. It didn't take long for the lefties to start crying about how we were at fault and "needed to understand our enemy - why they hate us." Boo-hoo-hoo. As time went by, the Dems came to hate the fact that Bush was admired and that America saw a huge boost in patriotism - flying the flag, uniting to fight a terrorist threat. So, the Dems and libs sought to block everything Bush tried to do to make our country safe and demonize him in the process. In some ways they succeeded, but for the most part they did not. And that is why we have not had a terrorist attack since 9/11/01. Thanks to Bush.
Sadly, Obama who was supposed to "unite" the country, has done more to divide it politically than anyone could ever have imagined. At least Obama has carried on what Bush started - although one can sense he is doing this because it is right, not because he wants to.
As we go forward as a country, we must never forget 9/11 and how we got to that point. We must not let our guard down. We do not need to understand our enemies and why they hate us. There will always be hate and evil in the world. We must need to fight against it - not wring our hands and worry about why terrorists like us or not.

What an incredibly short sighted statement. Any military commander would disagree with this train of thought.
"Obama who was supposed to "unite" the country, has done more to divide it politically than anyone could ever have imagined. At least Obama has carried on what Bush started -"
If you mean divide the country then yes he is carrying on what was started...
I think it was spring of 03 when much of Bushs support faded...you know when the war on terror took that detour into Iraq.
" then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons."

It is every citizens right as well as their moral obligation to speak out against what they perceive as being “wrong” with the country.
If you don’t like what is happening within this nation why don’t you leave?

We experienced it with Nazi Germany and Hitler. Hitler was allowed to go unchecked for way too long before finally people started to take notice. What was happening was evil and wrong.
We must be vigilant with the Islamic extremists - and not bend over backwards to say that the Koran and many Muslims promote peace and love. This is not the case. For many of it's followers, the Koran tells them exactly what they need to do - kill those who do not believe. It's all in the interpretation, of course, as some who hate Christianity will point out passages in the Bible that don't adhere to peace and love.
What is simply ironic now is that the ground zero Mosque is asking for federal funds to help in it's construction. Think the American people will be willing to give a "thumbs up" to this monstrosity? Taxpayer dollars going to help build a mosque which truly gives the middle finger salute to those who died on 9/11? I sure hope that taxpayers and politicians say a loud and clear "NO"! Not in our own backyard will we build a monument to those who murdered thousands of innocents on 9/11.

You must be referring to those passages that adhere to vengeance and hatred. But
hey, take away the blood thirsty acts of revenge perpetrated by the good book's
main character, and what do ya get? ... BORING!

yert, thanks for the heads-up with the anti-American NYT journalist Paul Krugman. It's nice to see this paper failing by the day. Looks like many liberals are fed up as well.

So please tell us Palin, why do so many people watch Fox News? Enlighten us with your thoughts, we're waiting. Or, if you must, verify it with an explanation from some online dictionary, or better yet, maybe a link or twelve from wikipedia. That would be great. Thanks.

"Mainstream media (MSM) are those media disseminated via the largest distribution channels, which therefore represent what the majority of media consumers are likely to encounter. The term also denotes those media generally reflective of the prevailing currents of thought, influence, or activity."
Key phrasing seems to be: "which therefore represent what the majority of media consumers are likely to encounter." For years and even today, the mainstream media has been dominated by liberals - in newspapers, magazines, and television/cable stations.
Yet, in spite of all the over-leftie saturation in regards to the news, the very few conservative outlets are very successful. Why? Because people aren't happy being force-fed a steady diet of liberalism by the so-called journalists and news reporters who lean left. We search out the few conservative outlets - such as conservative talk radio - which is extrememly successful. As well as certain shows hosted by conservatives on FoxNews. Why does FoxNews dominate? Not because it is "mainstream media" - since the cable/television networks are overrun by MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc. but because people seek out what Fox has to offer. FoxNews is about as mainstream as Barack Obama is a conservative.
SPalin - Sep 14, 2011 8:07 AM
Well, considering that the majority of viewers are no doubt conservative Christians,
I'd say it's probably for the same reason that conservative Christians are the biggest
consumers of online porn ... it's titillating!

Sounds like Sharpy irresponsibly bit off more than he could chew. Now he wants
