As a side note, an astute reader recently pointed out to me that the anti-Walker folks have done more to help energize support for Governor Walker these past few months simply by turning more and more people off by their antics. (Not to mention a death threat here or there as well as physical intimidation, general nasty behavior, and terrorizing Walkers own family.).
We're tired of it. Tired of the mindless protests, the me-me-me attitude when it comes to protecting their own fiscally unsustainable "entitlements," and the out-of-towners flocking to Wisconsin on behalf of the White House, unions, and the Democratic Party. We're tired of the "recalls" taking place simply because a minority cannot abide by their own words that "elections have consequences." Hypocrites. If you don't like what is happening in the Governor's office, wait till another election cycle comes around. Isn't that "true Democracy" in action? True Democracy is NOT trying to disenfranchise the majority of people who voted for Scott Walker.
There is no honest reason that Governor Walker should be facing a recall. He IS doing his job. He has not broken any law. He is not behaving badly in office. He IS doing what he was elected to do. Governor Walker deserves to remain in office and be elected again in four years once his initial term is over.
Walker IS a hero. Hopefully more people will realize this as time goes on, taxes go down, and jobs come back - and the fiscal outlook and budget of our state continue to improve!

Be sure to pass on this blog to anyone else who is concerned about fraudulent signatures, duplicates, fake names, etc. The "no sign" site is one step in the right direction to address signature fraud.
(Isn't it ironic that once we address voter fraud via Voter ID, that now we must address "signature fraud?" Will the anti-Walker folks now cry that people who signed petitions are being "disenfranchised" for having their signatures verified for validity? Never mind about all the folks who voted to elect Walker to office in the first place! Guess those votes just don't count! I think the left has cornered the market on hypocrisy! )

Yes. That would certainly simplify the Verify The Recall effort, wouldnt it (step 1 - write a piece of python script; step 2 - run program). Of course, it would allow for duplicate name detection, but without access to poll lists, im not sure how you would be able to detect bogus names.
sharpaxe - Dec 21, 2011 1:33 PM
So what the GAB has been telling everybody, while it might be "legal" for them, is a lie and downright disgraceful. This is one of the main reasons the Verify effort was even organized! As far as your repeated arguments about poll lists, wouldn't you think the most efficient and accurate lists should be obtained by the Government ACCOUNTABILITY Board??? You know, the ones who are supposed to oversee elections in this state??

As to the the voter polls books, Im not sure about my "repeated" reference to them, but I coulnt think of a better single source for valid addresses. There might be others, but certainly none that reference the address to the name. You want ?who? to manually do that for over half a million names??
Make the lists public, and let any 15 year old geek let his computer tell you what entries are fishy.
This is what a smaller government looks like - complete transparancy allows the people to oversee their own affairs.

Not particularly. If the GAB prepares a pubicly available electronic database (think of something like a excell spreadsheet) that'd be enough, and frankly thats a big enough job to do for over half a million names. They already said that in the process, they'd cull out the obvious faulty ones (no address, etc).
Now from THAT, anyone can go ahead and find duplicates, etc. and have them publicly removed. I DONT WANT signatures disappearing and not know what signatures or why. Next time it might be a recall where YOU want every signature you can get.
"But the burden of proof should not be on the office holder or a group that represents them"
Its not so much "burden of proof", but the authority to question a signature's validity should not rest with the GAB. Its too much "Big Brother" for my liking.

a Wisconsin address then the accountabillity board will except it ?????
MGarber - Dec 21, 2011 10:17 PM
Im sorry you have a problem with a particular name or 2. As a public record, it should be verified if there IS a Mr Mickey Mouse at the listed address. As I mentioned before, there *IS* one real person in WI actually and legally named Mickey Mouse.
The GAB is right to let it initially (key word there) pass, but as they already noted, such names will be flagged for possible further inspection.
