No honor in recall effort.
Gosh, tons of Scott Walker recall petitions – with billions (or is it millions? the numbers keep going up) of signatures (many of them soon to be weeded out as duplicates, invalid, fraudulent, from out-of-state, signed by Mickey Mouse, Adolph Hitler, or people known as “X”, from the grave, or stolen from people who had no intention of signing such garbage) were dumped at the Capitol in Madison today.
The recall process is on!
Doesn’t matter that Governor Walker is one of the best – if not THE best – governor this state has ever had. Named “Governor of the Year.” Highlighted by Nick Shultz in USA Today who wrote an article devoted to the many accomplishments and staunch leadership abilities of the governor . Governor Walker has turned this state around – made it fiscally sound, without raising taxes forcing anyone to lose a job. Incredible. And for this – a recall effort??? In the future, other governors will find themselves emulating Governor Walker if they wish to save their states from fiscal ruin. Why in the world would anyone - with an ounce of common sense or level of sanity - want to recall Scott Walker?
This brings me to a letter I read on the Opinion page of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel (Monday, 1/16/21). The writer deserves applause for summing up the Walker recall efforts and Walkers accomplishments.
NO HONOR IN RECALL EFFORT
If the liberals were still in charge, they’d jack up taxes and “stay the course” former Governor Jim Doyle set us on. You know, the course that put us $3.6 billion in debt. Governor Scott Walker has had the courage to make the tough but necessary calls to fix the problems he inherited. The Republicans, in less than one year in office, set an unprecedented example by fixing the fiscal train wreck Doyle left us.
The recall attempts seem more about defending the failed status quo rather than fixing or even acknowledging the problems. Handing the keys back to the Democrats will return Wisconsin into the downward spiral of reckless government spending, tax hikes, lucrative union relations in government, a hostile business climate and a general disregard for the taxpayer. Why should the private sector not only carry the burden of the recession but the lofty union costs, too?
So here we are again, facing another attempt in which liberals attempt to sleaze their way back into power by trying to recall Walker and other Republicans. There’s no legitimacy, respect, righteousness nor honor in the cause to recall Walker. The recall process was intended for removing politicians guilty of corruption and criminal acts. But shameless bullies, the recall supporters, are abusing the process because they simply disagree with Walker’s policies.
- Donny Burke, Oshkosh, WI
Bravo, Mr. Burke. I’d also like to add what the recall effort is really about. The Democrats and Obama in Washington D.C. and the federal government need the unions. The unions provide big $$$ to their political coffers – via forced union dues from members who have no choice whether or not they even want to belong to a union. Governor Walker has curtailed this practice – nipping it in the bud. Giving people a choice – the freedom to decide whether or not they want to belong to a union in the first place. The freedom to decide whether or not they want union dues automatically deducted from their paychecks – to go to the union leaders who in turn can give it back to the Democrats. Very simple. Connect the dots. Think President Obama and unions all over the country aren’t focused on Wisconsin at this very moment? Think again.
Also, one big question people need to ask themselves – is the State of Wisconsin better off today – after a year of Governor Scott Walker – than the Doyle years? If you don’t answer “yes” – you aren’t being honest.

That really would be a better blog title than "It's Hemmer Time" - can we get 1
MILLION signatures for that?

do very much. Until the two lobbyist owned parties are replaced with parties that

Your right, he has saved some money for the state. How? By taking it out of the middle class' mouth, while at the same time, funneling huge amounts of money into the pockets of private business. (which were all campaign donors) And how have those businesses thanked the taxpayers? By Driving Wisconsin to be the country's leader in unemployment. Sad... I was not a Doyle fan either, but to think Scooter is doing a great job (and spouting it online) is simply drinking the Kool-aid. BTW- how did your tax bill reflect these changes? How much was it worth to you to see corporations with unlimited funds strip the rights of the middle class worker through bought for legislative action? If your tax bill was anything like mine in Delafield, than you actually saw a small increase. Wisconsin is losing the battle for jobs and looks ridiculous in the eyes of the country and you think its all for the better. MC Hammer wants his slogan back, you actually make it lamer than it was when he came out with it...

DrLove: Do you have any idea how property taxes work? The many different municipalities that make up school districts may not see the same up or down increase in taxes due to several reasons. If you need more information, just ask.
And yes, in the Town of Merton, our property taxes decreased by several hundred dollars - even though the school board raised the tax levy/tax rate this year (with me, as a school board member, being the lone "no" vote) thanks Governor Walker! This was a nice surprise for many middle-class families!
Drink the Kool-Aid? No, DrLove. And what "rights" were stripped by Governor Walker? The "rights" of unions to force people to join and pay dues? What about the "rights" of those who didn't want to join unions nor pay dues? What about the "rights" of Wisconsin taxpayers who didn't want to be held hostage by funding unsustainable union benefits/perks/lucrative health care? Here's another thought for you on the jobs front - the business climate in our state is much more friendly towards private businesses now with Walker in office. The jobs WILL return - although it has been mentioned that many businesses are still skittish with an unknown on the horizon - that being the "recall" of Walker. Just as private businesses are afraid across the nation with a pro-big-government socialism president seeking to squash the private sector. It's a "wait and see" right now, and I'd bet once Walker wins his re-election (too bad he won't automatically get another four year term once "re-elected" :)) private businesses in our state take off and growth becomes the norm. Likewise, once Obama gets the boot, private sector job growth will take off. The obstacle - anti-private sector Barry O. - will be gone.

This is where honor was lost, because he did not trust the electorate to make a decision on his real agenda and thus he never stated it during the campaign.
1,000,000 signatures (+.-) One million signatures.
Who will not vote for Walker in the next election?
Teachers and their extended family members of voting age.
School staff and their extended family members of voting age.
At least 90% of Wisconsin Public Servants and their extended family members of voting age.
At least 95% of trade union members and their extended family members of voting age.
At least 50% of the independent voters
at least 100% of Democrats.
100% of folks who don't like the Koch brothers.
And what campaign will Walker run on? He's already proven that you can't trust what he says on the campaign trail because he does differently when he is in office.
I guess he could run on "I know what's best for Wisconsin so just shut up and take" But that's not going to sell.
Nope, he's been called to account by 1,000,000 signatures.
Bravo Wisconsin.
Bravo.

Jman99: Does anyone besides you really believe that one million valid (key word: valid) signatures were submitted by the recall Walker folks? It will be fun in the days ahead learning how many get tossed... 40%?... 50%?
Jmann99 and georgedubyabush: Walker did exactly what he promised - he balanced the budget. During the course of doing so, he took some of the burden off taxpayers paying for 100% of the public sector employees lucrative benefits/pensions/health care plans and made public sector employees contribute a tiny portion of their own paychecks towards their own benefits, etc.
Did the world end? No. Did anyone lose a job? No. Did taxes go up? No.
Why is it NOT a good thing for Walker to balance the budget and require that public sector employees contribute a tiny portion of their own pay towards their own benefits/health care plans?
Why is it OK to expect taxpayers to provide 100% of said benefits (like the Doyle years and beyond) because the unions are all about "me-me-me" - yet have people losing jobs, taxes skyrocketing as well as fees being raised, and private businesses fleeing a toxic business climate created by Diamond Jim and the Dems? Unsustainable. And if you were honest, you'd admit such.
Recall Walker and we go back to the days of Doyle. Does ANYONE really want that mess?
sharpaxe - Jan 18, 2012 12:22 PM
to kick Walker out of office, that's the one I would pick. - Georgedubya
Of all the issues the left "claims" is a reason for recall...you should do it because of a passing thought?

Once again...Yert is spot-on.

New blood needed for a transfusion. Wisconsin needs to heal not reel from what has been done to it's citizens by a narrow agenda propagated by narrow minded interests.
ahemmer - Jan 18, 2012 3:27 PM
No ghost poster. One million (wink wink) signatures simply means the anti-Walker folks worked overtime to sign petitions over and over, create names out of thin air, get names from the dead, have out-of-staters sign as well as cartoon characters, etc. How many WILL be valid is the question. It won't be anywhere near one million - if (a big "IF") the GAB does it's job.
georgedbuyabush: You mean the Madison Police Chief, Noble Wray, who has been known to have members of his force laugh when a Fox News reporter was harrassed by protesters? The same Chief Wray who had the felony record of his adult son expunged? The same Chief Wray who "selectively" enforces the laws he pledged to uphold? As for the Mayor, and uber-leftie, me smells sours grapes here that all of a sudden this weak "Walker actually thought ...." story from months ago has resurfaced out of nowhere. Is there an agenda in play?
Duh.
Lest we not forget the pro-protesters Capitol Police Chief Tubbs - who made every effort to allow protesters to do whatever they want.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=WACD-DItAfE&NR=1
So, let's get this straight, two clowns are suddenly irate that Walker "thought" about and didn't act on something. Yet these two clowns, plus Tubbs, allowed Republican lawmakers to receive death threats, be bodily blocked from entering the Capitol or leaving to go to their cars, having beers dumped on their heads, and let's not forget the death threats. Yet, remember a big story of not long ago - a protester got their balloon popped!!!! Big news for a few days! Guess death threats, nasty e-mails, vandalism, defecating in public, etc. are all small potatoes that the anti-Walker Madison Chief of Police, Mayor, and Capitol Police chief can all ignore.

"Yet these two clowns, plus Tubbs, allowed Republican lawmakers to receive death threats while doing little to address such seriously."
There, make ya' happy?
By the way, Obama just nixed the Keystone Pipeline, effectively killing off tens of thousands of jobs in the nation. Just another step in his efforts to destroy the private sector.
When the economy stinks and unemployment levels are at a dishonest figure of 8.5% (actually much higher when one figures in those who have stopped seeking employment).
Didn't Obama say the unemployment level would not rise above 8% if the Generational Theft Act (aka: Stimulus Bill) was passed? (Where's the "pants on fire" on that little nugget from PolitiCrap?)
And here we've got libs worrying about a phone call that pranked Scott Walker in which Walker said he "thought about doing something but didn't....." (Anyone wonder if Walker was playing along?, by the way?)
Wow - what should we REALLY be concerned about? A President whose goal is to destroy the private sector, or a Governor who has revived the state of Wisconsin and is working hard on behalf of the citizens of our state to ensure we are fiscally sound, people remain employed, we have lower taxes, smaller government, and maintain a good quality of life.

Hemmer I can't believe you would let this statement by "Richer than You" stand on your blog. This person obviously, by their own words threatened their own employees. That is illegal in the State of Wisconsin and I encourage you to forward this information to the authorities.

Did Nebraska finally approve the project, because the last I was Nebraska was dead set against it.
Mind you it could have something to do with Nebraska Oil interests and US companies who will have no control or dollars earned from the tar sand oil.
You need to dig a bit deeper Hemmer if you are going to get into this one.
