"We thought more about the next generation than we did about the next election." - Governor Scott Walker
Following Obama's clunker State of the Union Campaign Speech the night before, Governor Scott Walker's State of the State speech was a breath of fresh air and inspiration.
While President Obama simply dusted off his tired rhetoric from last year, bloviating for an hour and a half promoting class envy and the need to make more people reliant on the government, Governor Walker was the polar opposite.
"We are turning things around. We are heading in the right direction." - Governor Walker (1/25/12)
Unlike President Obama, Governor Walker had some real accomplishments to discuss.
- after three years of 150,000 job losses, the state helped create thousands of jobs this year and the states unemployment rate is the lowest it has been since 2008
- under Walker's leadership, the state balanced a $3.6 billion dollar budget deficit while avoiding mass layoffs and billion dollar tax increases.
- for the first time in years, many K-12 property tax rates are down
- the private business climate in the state has improved to the point where 94% of job creators believe Wisconsin is headed in the right direction. (Two years ago, only 10% of job creators thought the same thing.)
- added $1.2 billion dollars to Medicaid and expanded Familycare
- developed the "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse Elimination Task Force" to protect taxpayer dollars and make sure taxpayer monies are being spent wisely
- added focus on improving schools and ensuring that children have access to a great education
For each of the key points mentioned above, Governor Walker had numerous examples which you can read at: http://www.walker.wi.gov/Default.aspx?Page=d00003d4-91e4-4aeb-a13a-9f097ca9adcd
I was able to listen to Walker's speech on the radio, meaning I did not have the added luxury of witnessing the disruptive and obnoxious behavior of the anti-Walker crowd in the Capitol rotunda (who are so concerned about ""civility" - wink wink). Several of those who simply couldn't abide by the rules while Walker was speaking had to be led away and arrested. One person shouted out "liar" during Walker's speech and I couldn't help but laugh. The absurdity of it all is simply amazing. I wonder how many of the anti-Walker folks truly realize how many people are turned off by their childish antics, boorish behavior, and tantrums. It's getting old, folks, especially since more and more people are beginning to notice how Walker's reforms ARE working!!!
In closing, here are Governor Walker's State of the State final remarks:
"Moving forward I believe that the spirit of Wisconsin will help us improve the state of our economy, the state of our budget, the state of our schools, and - ultimately - the spirit of Wisconsin will help us all improve the lives of each and every citizen in our great state.
Now is the time for action. Now is the time to get our state working again. Now is the time to move Wisconsin forward."

to stand firm and realize that the majority of Wisconsinites have his back. I still
believe that there may not even be a recall based on all of the fraud on the
signature lists. And you know who will be the most relieved? The dumbo rats.
When you combine the loss of integrity, the foolish amount of cost associated with
their very own antics and the loss of political capital wasted on an effort led by the
chronic loser, Kathleen Falk, the dumbs will not have any money for the fall
elections. Tell me how their base is going to be motivated after the whoopa$$ing
they're going to get. This was a really stupid move on their part. They can rot in
the political hole they dug for themselves.

The Dems/lefties have yet to answer what they will run on against Walker. What will their message be? We want to go back to running the state into the ground and create another financial mess ala Doyle? We want to go back to putting the unions in control of taxpayer funds to continue to pay for the unbelievably lucrative benefits of public workers? That didn't work back then and was unsustainable - as many states are now discovering. It won't work now.
What IS the Democratic message except that they don't like Walker's common sense/problem-solving legislation?

went up. My local district claims that it needs a referendum to raise taxes because
the "tools" from the governor are not enough to make ends meet. My kid's state
college tuition is going up big time and I had to lay off two more employees in
January. I personally haven't seen too many positives so far. When can we expect
the money taken from the public workers and given to big business to start trickling
down to the last of the middle class who are trying to keep their heads above water?

And where did I say I was outraged over an anti-Walker clown who yelled "liar" during Walker's speech? I thought it was funny. It is so pathetic that I am sure most people brushed it off as "civility as usual." Whatever.
WizerthnUU: You don't provide enough information to address why the school portion of your property taxes went up. For example, MPS agreed to union contracts prior to ACT 10 being enacted. They could not reduce costs using ACT 10 due to their own ineptitude. As for referendums - school boards need to use the ACT 10 tools the governor has given them. They could avoid the need for a referendum if they did. Schools need to apply the same cost-savings measures that the private sector deals with all the time. And if this means asking their employees to contribute more $$$ to their own benefits, so be it.
Money is not being "taken" from public workers. Public workers are finally having to pay for a very tiny portion of their very generous benefits packages that the taxpayers have been funding 100%. In addition, public workers are also contributing for the first time to their own pensions! What a concept! 5.8% towards their own retirement - which they keep!!! What is so wrong with that???
In the private sector world, most pay a whole lot more (by hundreds of dollars) for their health care plans, and must save their own money 100% to pay for life after retirement. In addition, many are out of work. Yet, via taxes, many are still paying for the lucrative pensions and benefits of the public sector. Using an Obama term - is that FAIR????

I was channel-surfing on Thursday and someone e-mailed Wagner and said he knows the lady who shrieked "LIAR!"; apparently she's a Madison grade school teacher. I'm shocked... OK, no I'm not.
"I wonder how many of the anti-Walker folks truly realize how many people are turned off by their childish antics, boorish behavior, and tantrums."
Apparently, none. You think the leadership would reel them in a bit. Every time their unhinged antics get publicity, they probably lose 1,000 votes from independents (who decide elections). Bad strategy.

It will be interesting to see who gets thrown under the bus due to lack of funds. They're spreading themselves too thin. Maybe Obama or Soros could pony up a few hundred million.
"They can rot in the political hole they dug for themselves."
First rule of holes; when you're in one, stop digging.

However, the slim pickin's of any Democrat that could beat Walker are pathetic.
Kathleen Falk? Too far out there - as leftie and wacky as Michael Moore. A two-time loser for both the governor position and Attorney General.
Tim "I fled the state rather than do my job" Cullen? No chance.
David Obey? Who was too afraid to step in to run for Herbie "do nothing" Kohl's senate seat once Tammy Baldwin set her sights on it?
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett? Who lost to Walker the first time around for Governor? Another do-nothing mayor? What has Barrett done for the city of Milwaukee? Can anyone name anything? Case in point - Barrett is a spineless wimp when it comes to addressing the recent rash of so-called "co-sleeping deaths" in Milwaukee. Ignoring the fact that many intoxicated or drugged up adults pass out ont their kids and kill them - and should be sent to prison - the mayor instead calls it a "societal problem" and we need free cribs. Gag me.
Polls have Walker beating any of these clowns. And rightly so.
However, if the "2 million" recall signatures, which became "1 million" which became "700,000" have a huge percentage of fraudulent, invalid signatures, whose to say there even WILL be a recall? However, it would be fun to see Walker smack down the competition. Sweet justice. The out-of-state unionistas cannot vote in a recall election, meaning a great percentage of the signatures on the recall petitions don't mean a thing. The people of Wisconsin WILL decide. The way it's looking now, the people of Wisconsin are realizing that Walker's reforms are having a positive effect on the state and are good for the citizens. Much to the chagrin of the lefties. Too bad. Bring it on!

"Polls have Walker beating any of these clowns."
The Capitol Times is doing an on-line poll, and Walker is at 54%. The Capitol Times. Interesting. Could they have a conservative readership of more than 10%? Are Madisonians even getting tired of the silliness?
I actually like Dems like Tim Cullen and Jeff Playle because they're reasonable, but I think Cullen was polling the lowest at 1%.

Appalled? No, just amused by the "civility" hypocrites. Bad strategy.

It doesn't. RECALL WALKER
ahemmer - Jan 29, 2012 9:42 AM
Now, if I were a betting person, I'd say for the next few days, if not weeks, the Urinal/Sentinel will be posting anything remotely related to the "John Doe" investigation (you know, the one that Scott Walker initiated!!!) on the front page in it's 24/7 efforts to smear Walker.
At least the Urinal/Sentinel folks are very "transparent" in their bias - most of us can figure it out and have caught on. It's gotten to be so abusrd it's just funny.
jhayett - Jan 29, 2012 10:20 AM
How about Doyle’s shaking down donors for his campaign from those who received awards from Doyle’s multistate law suit settlements with vitamin manufactures.
Remember Sen. Chuck Chavala (D) and his 20 felonies under Doyle? Doyle and Chavala both worked for the Democratic Coordinated Campaign. A liberal democrat party group who funds campaigns. Doyle’s too!
How about Joanna Richards and her illegal involvement with Chavala and then Doyle hired her for campaign work. Did you forget that too?
The JD investigation against Walker aids had been going on for a year. Thinks to GOV WALKER!
Did you complain and accuse Doyle or try to recall him when these facts surfaced? Of course you didn’t. In fact, I don’t recall much of this ever making the ultra liberal Milw JS headline news.

The Oakland Mayor went on TV and supporte, and allowed these Idiots to do as they pleased. Now Oakland suffers the consequences. Samething is happening in New York, Washington, and just about everywhere protests were encouraged by Democrats . Many of them appeared at these protests and gave speeches.
""""House Democratic Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., she supports the growing nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement, saying, "Change has to happen."""
""""The White House wants to make it clear that President Barack Obama is on the same side as the Occupy Wall Street protesters – and that Republicans are not"""".

""""Occupy Wall Street Protests Poised to Grow Rapidly With Union Support""""
I could go on and on.
My point is Wisconsin Unions, and Democratic Senators and Legislators Supported those who protest in Madison, Picketing Walkers home, disrupting every speech and ceremony he appears at. Most of the anti Walker posters on your and other Lake Country Blogs did support, and many still do these Idiots.(FREEDOM OF SPEECH??)
I wnder what happened to the Orange T-Shirts Democrats and Union people wore?? Put away for next Halloween???

Talk about poor and bias journalism. Does anyone know which day of the week is the least read Milw Journal/Sentinel? Saturday. That was told to me by the Milw JS top brass when I did my study on bias with their paper. Well, yesterday had a fairly clear and balanced front page headline: Walker may be cleared of all this. Thus maybe why he initiated the JD and why it's been over a year and the JD investigation has yet to find any wrong doing with Gov Walker. But heck, why let the truth get in the way with a despicable and corrupt liberal democrat started recall.
WFB resident - Jan 29, 2012 3:05 PM
better for I think comment ! Thankyou georg will ! So Walker was to ? Fire him ?
Oust him ? We have laws against that . Seriously what should he have done ? Talk
about being anti intellectual ! Guys being educated does not make an intellectual .
Just try harder to think with your brains not your opinions .
