"What has America become?" In his letter to the editor (not an editorial), Ken Huber epitomizes all that America has become. He continually pits one view point against another. He chooses one side over the other. Never does he attempt to find a way to share the blame, but instead tries to place blame on one side alone. Never does he make any attempt to solve any problem. We have become a country that has changed it's opinion of what it means to be #1, from what is best for the majority of the country, to what is best for me and those that think like me. Members of Congress who attempt to work with members from the other side of the aisle, are derided as RINOs or DINOs. Perhaps we should rename them - PINOs - Politicians in name only. They appear to be the only ones capable of resolving the multitude of problems this country is facing. But by trying to work together, they are going against the closed minded and uncivil majority. We only have to look at the blogs here at LLC to see how little respect we have for each other. Name calling abounds (pee air, Minty, yerti, Dumbya), lack of respect for the President (little man-child, chucklehead). distortion of facts (SF's testimony was about ovarian cancer preventive treatment not recreational sex). A little bit of amateur psychology - perhaps our lack of respect toward others is due to a lack of respect for ourselves. If you don't like yourself, how can you possibly like anyone else? Try harder to be civil and hopefully the effort will rub off on others.

Ref not sure it is a lack of self love as much as a lack of respect for others.
People seem to feel their political ideology is correct and others are wrong.

As far as Rush's joke goes, when Amy said that, she didnt realize that Rush himself (and the rest of the world) realized it was wrong, period. She should have waited to be told.

Peirre I couldn't agree more! Business is motivated by profit not politics. No
business owner would sit back and wait for the next election if they see
opportunity to profit. The argument that business owner are waiting for a
republican president is just short attention span political theater.

PDN: President Bush (to the chagrin of many Republicans, including myself) did indeed sign a bill for an Economic Stimulus in 2008. However, it came nowhere near the billions of the Obama Generational Theft Act of 2009. Bush's bill was for $152 billion - of which a great amount was really - honestly - for actual tax cuts. $600 per individual. $1200 per married couple. $300 per child. There were also real tax breaks for businesses. $40 billion went towards spending.

Contrast that with Obama's porkulus/Generational Theft Act. To the tune of almost a trillion dollars - $767 billion. Loaded with pork. Doing nothing to "create jobs" as promised. A good comparison would be to taking dollar bills and throwing them out the window. Although I do think some of the $$$ went to grow government (no surprise there).

Lest we forget, too, the President Bush enacted tax cuts - real cuts. In both 2001 and 2003. He lowered the marginal tax rates of all U.S. taxpayers, allowing taxpayers to keep more of their own hard-earned cash. Quite the opposite of Obama who wants to punish the workers/taxpayers by taking even more to give to those living the entitlement dream.

Please remember this blog is not about Rush Limbaugh. His name does not appear in the post topic. I know many want to comment on Rush's so-called "apology" (which I really find to be an excellent way he found to make yet another great point - the simple fact that most Americans do not want to pay for others social activities and should not be expected to. I really liked his line about what's next - should taxpayers now be expected to pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?"
All Rush did was say he should have not used certain terms to describe Ms. me-me-me "reproductive rights activist" Fluke. Good for Rush. A sort of non-apology that continued to get the point across that Americans are getting fed up with the entitlement mentality of some spoiled brats.

I am not rich or do I make much money. I'm in the bottom of midd class and more in uppper poor. But I know the tax facts better than you. Bush's tax cuts were the same to me in total percentage of my income as they are for the top 1.5% you moan over.

Have any of you had to actually pay for your groceries they have double and in some case’s tripled compared to before he was in office, check out the quantity of the products your buying. Where you use to get 16onces you are now getting 12 ounces and at 3 times the price that 16 was just 3 short years ago.
Why do you think that is?
Might it be shipping costs and fuel, Regulations?
If demand is low why have things gone up?
He said $5.00 to $7.00 per gallon and by God that’s exactly where we will be when he leaves office.

Every state around us has minds for ore with no environment problems Canada who has some of the stickiest laws governing mining in the world has mines all over their country why is that.
Why would the largest union in the nation not support this mine?
