Looking good for June 5th!
Wow!
Even with the liberal media doing its very best not to let people know that Governor Scott Walker was on the primary ballot in yesterday's race, facing a "fake" Republican challenger, the word got out. Either via conservative talk radio, blogs, or simply word-of-mouth, Republicans/conservatives turned out in droves to vote their support for Walker. Just imagine what numbers Walker would have received HAD the media done anything to promote the fact that Walker was on the ballot to begin with???
When all was said and done:
Governor Scott Walker: 626,538
Arthur Kohl-Riggs ("fake" Republican challenger): 19,920
The strong initial show of support - in a primary recall election - without ALL Walker supporters even KNOWING that Walker was on the ballot is amazing.
Walkers total is larger than that of Democrats Tom Barrett and Kathleen Falk COMBINED (Walker: 626,538 - Barrett/Falk: 619,049)!!!
Tom Barrett: 390,109
Kathleen Falk: 228,940
- other three Dem contenders combined for a total of: 51,229
So what exactly does all of this mean?
For one, the union candidate, Falk, lost big time. This indicates that many people are sick and tired of the "union agenda" of creating chaos in our state simply to return to the stranglehold of collective bargaining on the taxpayers. The unions poured over $5 million dollars into Falk's campaign, to see it fizzle at the polls.
Secondly, Tom Barrett cannot continue to point fingers at Walker anymore and just repeat over and over how Walker is evil. Barrett's got some 'splainin' to do on his pathetic record as the Mayor of Milwaukee. No matter how the Journal/Sentinel tries to gloss over the dismal years of Barrett as Mayor, the truth will come to light. (Bring on those debates between Barrett and Walker!) In eight long years - what has Barrett done to improve the city? Barrett's record is one of high unemployment, high taxes, high school drop-out rates, with no end in sight. Oh, but don't forget that $65 million dollar taxpayer-funded streetcar - Barretts baby! Barrett's record speaks for itself. If anyone wants to make the state of Wisconsin similar in kind to Barrett's Milwaukee - go for it!
Third: anyone wonder how many Republicans may have "crossed-over" to vote for Falk? Thus decreasing even more the number of votes that the Democratic contenders received when compared to Walker.
Fourth: Can anyone remember how many Walker Recall Petition signatures there were? The liberal Government Accountability Board concluded that 901,000 signatures were valid. 901,000 signatures. Adding up all the Democratic governor totals from above comes to: 670,278. A difference of: 230,722. Where WERE those 230,722 people that were so angry and determined to kick Walker out of office? Did they stay home? Were they uninterested in the primary election? Were they suffering from "recall election fatigue?" Or....were they from out-of-state to begin with and were unable to return to Wisconsin to vote in the primary? Whatever the reason, this bodes very well for Governor Scott Walker.
Come June 5th, Governor Scott Walker WILL win yet again. The only two questions associated with his election will be:
- how big a margin will Governor Walker beat Barrett by?
- will the liberals FINALLY accept the results of an election?

Democrats + Kohl-Riggs 690198
You're right June 5th looks good.

Ive always called the race as "Close, with Walker keepin the job" and Im sticking to that.
I think a big factor which yesterday's vote also does not illuminate, are the democrats who think that the recall itself was a waste of time/money. I know there are more than a few that think that way. Im not even sure what their number means; I suspect they'll just not vote (rather than "crossing the aisle"), thereby depressing the Demos total.

You have to remember that actually signing the recall carried significant risk to the signer as has been well displayed in these blogs, while casting a ballot for Walker carried no personal risk at all.
As for 230,722, I suspect that they will vote for whom ever is going against Walker just as long as they can put him on permanent vacation.
And the Dems can count on another almost 20,000 votes that Khol-Riggs took away yesterday.

And then you BRAG about it???
MGarber - May 09, 2012 11:06 AM
Seriously?? Why would they even bother (asside from Amy's last blog topic); what would the point be?? Was Koll-Riggs ever a real contender???
jman99 - May 09, 2012 11:18 AM
It would have been a show of strength and a clear sign that he has that much support.
I guess not.

In addition, what about the Falk cross-over vote? Look at Washington County - Falk had close to 3,000 votes in a very Republican county. Likewise - look at Waukesha County - Falk received almost 10,000 (yes, 10,000 votes) from VERY conservative Waukesha. Think they might have been cross-overs? Judging from calls to WISN conservative talk radio, I'd say a firm "yes" on that one. Many people were calling to to "fess up" to voting for Falk. I myself have a wide circle of fellow conservatives in a huge e-mail group - almost all said they were going with Falk - even though I said we should vote for Walker. They seemed to think (correclty) that the "fuzzy faced occupier" (aka: Arthur Kohl-Riggs) had no chance whatsoever against Walker, so a vote for Walker wasn't needed anyhow. (They ended up being correct.)
Even leftie UWM professor Mordecai Lee s (whom the liberal news media always turns to for his take on things) stated this a.m. how surprised he was by the huge turnout for Walker! Without any real need to go to the polls! He said in order for the Dems to win come 6/5, they'd better motivate their base...
What is the Dem's message anyhow - other than "we hate Walker?" What platform are they presenting?
In a month, we will be celebrating Walker's election.

My only regret is that Falk was not the Democratic candidate as she had a complete zero chance to be elected.

So the real Recall score is Union $ + Taxpayer $ money spent to date = $28mm + $10 million = $38 million by the Dems Unions and WI tax dollars.
Divided by salary+benefits at $100K each, the Union Recall effort to keep their stranglehold on the taxpayer could have been spent on 380 teacher jobs this year. (and their Gov candidate lost!). Double down on Barrett? I bet they will.
The Union leadership is trying to make a point that the taxpayers in WI have no say in whether union dues and tax dollars gets spent on funding teacher's salaries or keeping the Union bosses in power.

Geno53151: If you think Falk had zero chance of getting elected governor, I'd be willing to state that Barrett's chances are about the same. And just wait for the debates to begin! Oh my goodness. Barrett has NOTHING to point to as an "accomplishment." He will be toast once Walker points out the "Barrett 8 year record on "leading" Milwaukee!!!" Can't wait till Walker starts on the increase in property taxes, the lower home values, the increase in fees, the increase in unemployment (especially black unemployment), the businesses that fled, the high drop-out rate in the schools, etc. What will be the icing on the cake comes when Walker asks Barrett as to how ACT 10 helped Barrett balance the city budget.
I quote from "Politicrap" when pointing out that originally Barrett blasted Walker on ACT 10, then turned around AND:
"...Eight months later, the Democratic mayor (Barrett) took advantage of a key plank in Walker’s bill to help save millions on health insurance costs and balance the city budget without having to negotiate with city unions. In the past, the city would have had to negotiate such a change."
Lookin' good, Scott!

It seems your forgetting 1 very important thing.
Walker was always going to win his primary that was a give in but then you had the Democratic primary where 1 million recall signers were going to come out and show us their force in numbers Well what Happen?? You had a real primary on the left one that mattered for your candidate and still could not come near the million man march you claimed. Many republicans didn’t vote yesterday they had no reason Riggs wasn’t going to really challenge Walker but on the left where it truly mattered what happen.
Heck Falk didn’t even take Dane county her home away from the former USSR.
Barrett’s a floundering fish swimming in terds he dumped last week.
He’s about to become what’s commonly referred to as a three time loser.
Either you folks can’t add or Mickey mouse and Hitler decided not to vote yesterday. Although I’m sure Goofy did I mean Jman and BS sorry?
Amy how much do you want to bet the John Doe investigation conveniently starts to leak false accusations in the next month. Their running out of options and they are just now realizing the majority of this state doesn’t want to move backwards.
Their going into panic mode again.
Jman why the insult toward WFB, crabby taday or what didn’t get you way last night, fraid the handouts might be over.

""Neenah's teachers could pay more for their health insurance under a new high-deductible health insurance plan approved by the Board of Education on Tuesday, the details of which are outlined in the Appleton Post-Crescent.
But the new plan is coupled with an 18% increase in the base salary for teachers - from $34,319 to $40,500, effective July 1.
The Post-Crescent reports that taxpayers will save $1.8 million annually under the new health insurance plan.
The base salary adjustment would primarily affect new teachers, or current teachers who are making less than the new base wage. Bringing those teachers up to the new base would cost taxpayers $126,000 next year, according to the Post-Crescent.
The changes to the health insurance plans and salary are included in Neenah's employee handbook, which has taken the place of collective bargaining agreements."""

Some samplings:
- "he (Barrett) thought Walker overreached with some of Act 10 in ways that Barrett saw as union busting."
- Walker was messing with "the fundamental right to organize," Barrett said within days of Walker’s February announcement. "It’s an ideological war to try to crush labor"
- "Barrett didn’t specify which of the bill’s (ACT 10) provisions he felt crossed the line into union busting."
- "Impact on city budget: Barrett predicted that Milwaukee’s budget would come out a big loser due to the aid cuts in Walker’s two-year budget."
So Politicrap says concludes Barrett really didn't flip-flop on his ACT 10 stance - he supported it and used it. Yeah, right.
As a side note, just heard some lefties are so upset with Barrett as a candidate for Gov. that they might write in Falk's name come June 5th! Go for it!

So what WAS the point of this recall - for a do-over for a few pouty children who threw a hissy fit cuz they didn't get their way in 2010?
Remember how this was supposed to be about ACT 10?
Well, Falk - the only candidate really addressing ACT 10 and just a union lackey, got booted out in the primary.
That leaves Barrett.
So again, WHY are we having a recall?
THink of the millions of taxpayer dollars being spent on this nonsense. The unions/Dems/and anti-Walker folks should be on the hook for the cost, but we taxpayers will yet again be footing the bill for yet another losing liberal cause.
Once Governor Walker is re-elected, legislation MUST be passed to address the fact that recalls can be a weapon when a group just doesn't like the results of an election. Elected officials should only face a recall for malfaesance in office.
