All is not lost...
Alright, I admit I was as shocked as most Americans that the United States Supreme Court did not do its job and uphold the Constitution in regards to Obamacare. Instead, five activist justices voted to give Obama and the Democrats a green light to do whatever they want. For some reason, I believed the court would do the right thing - get politics out of the way and protect the Constitution as they had pledged. (I know the four liberals on the court don't care diddly about the Constitution, but I had faith in Roberts and the other four conservative justices). Sadly, I was wrong. After digesting the disappointing news, I managed to come up with several bright spots. So, as my blog title states: all is not lost!
Chief Justice John Roberts seems to have gone off the deep end and crossed over to the dark side. Either that, or he just wants to be loved - aspiring to become the darling of the lefties and new BFF of Barry Obama. I have no clue why. Roberts - and the four liberal judges of the court who voted with him - did not do their jobs to uphold the Constitution of the United States. On the other hand, the four justices who voted against Obamacare made it very clear that the "mandate," as well as Obamacare in general, is unconstitutional. And how the "mandate" suddenly morphed into a "tax" (which Obama and Co. always denied it was) is suspect. If the mandate IS now a tax - America has just gotten served with the biggest tax bill in history.
Yes, this is a very disturbing day in the history of the nation.
But don't give up hope entirely.
This may be a temporary "victory" for Obama (and he will "spike the football" for as long as he wants, classless narcissist that he is), but Mitt Romney is waiting in the wings to repeal the entire thing. Many people are pinning their hopes on a Romney victory and this ruling will really serve to motivate even more people to get out and support Romney and other Republican candidates running for offices across the nation.
Romneys words immediately following the court ruling:
"What the court did not do on last day in session, I'll do on my first day as president and act to repeal Obamacare."
And come November, the silent majority of all the Americans who want Obamacare repealed will have their chance to elect Romney.
I equate this temporary victory for Obama/Obamacare to the pseudo-victory of liberal John Lehman over Republican Van Waangard for the 21st district state senate seat in Racine in the recent recall election. (As a side note: The election results have yet to be certified in that race, since Van Waangard asked for a recount. In addition, the voting procedures in Racine are highly suspect as to how voting rules were ignored, and everything is still a mess. Police are investigating various reports of questionable activities in the Racine area race. Reports of voter fraud and chaos - with some 4,000 plus "same day voter registrations" (lots of cars/vans with Illinois plates in the area, too, on voting day - wonder what that was all about??) overwhelming poll workers.) Even if Lehman pulls out an "Al Franken-style" victory, it's meaningless. Sure, the Wisconsin Senate may have a Democratic majority - but it is an empty win. The legislators are on hiatus until January. Elections are coming in November which indicate that the Republicans will become the majority in the Wisconsin senate once again. So what did John Lehman really win (if he is indeed victorious after all is finalized in Racine)? A temporary job for a few months - with nothing to do. This is akin to the Obamacare ruling today. A temporary victory - but meaningless with the election of Republican Mitt Romney.
Even in the face of this blatant disregard for the Constitution, I still have faith that right will triumph over wrong come November. If Republicans and conservatives and Tea Party members - who have been very motivated all along - become (as I believe they will) even more determined to ensure a Romney/Republican victory in November, Obamacare will have served a purpose. Not to make the government more powerful - but to motivate Americans to take back our country - take it back from big government and the socialists currently in power. Take it back from the brink of disaster. And that will be a good thing.
Just as so many of us were on Cloud Nine after Governor Walker rightly won the recall election a few weeks ago, the "pro-entitlement, pro-big government" crowd is gloating today. I say, let them gloat. And in a way, to really look on the bright side, Mitt Romney couldn't have asked for a better campaign issue to use in the months leading up to November.
Perhaps as we once thanked Barack Obama for motivating complacent Americans to stand up to protect the country from him and his socialist policies - with the birth of the Tea Parties - we should consider thanking the United States Supreme Court. Today, with this shameful ruling, they have providing yet another lightning rod to get even more complacent Americans off their red-white-and-blue butts and work hard to elect Republicans and conservatives in November to save our country!
We can save America - with our votes in November.

Romney instituted almost identical legislation when he was Gov.
Now all the Dem's have to do is paint him as Health Care Repealer in Chief as well as Out-Sourcer in Chief.
( and it's only those who do not take on the responsibility of having insurance who will be dinged with a tax bill to pay for their free loading on the system. If you have health care or qualify for the payment grant the will be no tax increase)
And Hemmer, it was always constitutional. After all a Constitutional expert drafted it.
What a great day for all the citizens of America. Affordable Health Care for all the people.

And no, jmann99, Obamacare is NOT constitutional. Roberts and the leftie judges bent over backwards to deem the "mandate" a tax. It was not presented as a "tax" by the defense. It was not called a "tax" by Obama & Co. The Supreme Court created a loophole by using the word "tax" in order to allow this monstrosity to stand. Yet, what will the government be "taxing" exactly? And why did Obama and Co. say the mandate was NOT a tax all along?

It is not a great day for the citizens of America. Most will be paying higher taxes to pay for this, including the poor. Every entitlement comes with a huge price tag. Businesses will suffer. Families will suffer. The health care industry will suffer. The nation will suffer. And the uninformed simply think they are getting "free health care." No. They won't be. Obamacare's price tag is off the charts.
And with this ruling, Obama has probably sealed his own demise. He will not be re-elected, because too many people are frightened by what Obamacare means and how damaging it is to the country.
Mitt Romney will put a stop to it, with his fellow Republicans, and that will be the end of it. All we need are 51 Republican Senators and Mitt Romney as Prez and it's a done deal.

I believe that Justice Roberts has done us all a favor. We have to be relentless now. This economy, along with this ruling and the unbelievable tax consequences of this bill are going to be the burden that may finally wake up the college crowd. When you come out of school with 50-200K in debt with a stagnent job market and no momentum in the economy, all we can say is thanks. Thanks for picking up the tab for all of us! Because that's all this generation is going to do for the rest of their working lives, pay off this mandated debt. Deadbeats, like Jmann and Dumbya who type out their exsistance every day, will not extend their gratitude. I will, but I will add the following proviso: You really shouldn't have, I can take care of myself.

In November, I think that the Republicans and Romney will sweep the elections. Another tsunami is on the horizon. The silent majority does not want Obamacare. Just as the silent majority in Wisconsin did not want to see a strong conservative -Scott Walker - recalled.
I think the Dems have a big surprise coming in November and Obama is a one-term prez. He's done.
By the way, Attorney General Eric Holder has just been found in contempt. Wonder where that will lead?

Well if you can, that's good for you. This is meant mostly for those who can'd so good for them.

"The Supreme Court upholds Romneycare!"
ahemmer - Jun 28, 2012 6:38 PM
Several of the conservative talk show hosts have been saying that in a way, this ruling is a blessing. It gives Romney a real issue to run against. And the majority of Americans do not support Obamacare. They realize the only chance now, after Justice Roberts lost his spine and caved - with no regards to the U.S. Constitution, is to vote in November for the folks that will repeal it.
And when Romney wins and repeals Obamacare, I'd suggest appointing and selecting a new chief justice of the Supreme Court - once Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg goes away. She's about due to retire, which is a big plus for America.

Ahhhhh...... Up til now, that would've been your opinion, and one that could be well argued. But the arguing is officially over, and we were wrong.

Like the economy wasn't? So he's just been lying all this time?

Yes, the American People are now blessed with affordable health care.

Exactly.
I think that many Americans who may be rejoicing today will be sorry when they realize the cost and what is to come in the future if this monstrosity is not repealed.
By the way, after the Supreme Court decision was announced, Romney's campaign received millions of dollars in donations from all across the U.S. of A.

What the SCOTUS ruled today, is that the federal government can mandate anything it sees fit onto us Americans through the tax code. Individual liberty no longer exists in this country. What is now to stop this or any future congress or administration from requiring some other mandate? Let’s say congress passes another mandate that everyone needs to drive a volt, it’s good for the environment and the government, if we don’t comply we will be taxed.
Mr. Roberts issued a single profound statement today enforcing this glaring fact that he doesn’t believe it to be his job to protect the constitution, “ It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”( http://www.theblaze.com/stories/supreme-court-upholds-individual-mandate/)
So we have a supreme court that essentially redefined this law in an attempt to pass constitutionality and then on top of that the chief justice states it is not their job to protect the people from who they happen to vote into office. Excuse me, Mr. Roberts, that is exactly what your job is, not redefining statues so they appear constitutional, shame on you. Yes, if that is the case, this is what democracy, mob rule, looks like and the Republic, the belief in individual liberty, no longer exists. Regardless of the fate of obamacare, regardless of the November elections the damage has been done. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and that is true regardless of tea party, progressive, conservative or liberal beliefs.

Charities ? and Donations ? We also now need a law to force the ones who passed it
to actually use it !! I wonder how long it will stay in place then ?
