"Right now, 23 million men and women are struggling to find work. Twenty-three million people, unemployed or underemployed. Nearly one in six Americans is living in poverty. Millions of young Americans have graduated from college during the Obama presidency, ready to use their gifts and get moving in life. Half of them can’t find the work they studied for, or any work at all.
So here’s the question: Without a change in leadership, why would the next four years be any different from the last four years?
The first troubling sign came with the stimulus. It was President Obama’s first and best shot at fixing the economy, at a time when he got everything he wanted under one-party rule. It cost $831 billion – the largest one-time expenditure ever by our federal government. It went to companies like Solyndra, with their gold-plated connections, subsidized jobs, and make-believe markets. The stimulus was a case of political patronage, corporate welfare, and cronyism at their worst. You, the working men and women of this country, were cut out of the deal.
"Obamacare, as much as anything else, explains why a presidency that began with such anticipation now comes to such a disappointing close.
It began with a financial crisis; it ends with a job crisis.
It began with a housing crisis they alone didn’t cause; it ends with a housing crisis they didn’t correct.
It began with a perfect Triple-A credit rating for the United States; it ends with a downgraded America.
It all started off with stirring speeches, Greek columns, the thrill of something new. Now all that’s left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed, like a ship trying to sail on yesterday’s wind.
President Obama was asked not long ago to reflect on any mistakes he might have made. He said, well, “I haven’t communicated enough.” He said his job is to “tell a story to the American people” – as if that’s the whole problem here? He needs to talk more, and we need to be better listeners?"
----------
"In this generation, a defining responsibility of government is to steer our nation clear of a debt crisis while there is still time. Back in 2008, candidate Obama called a $10 trillion national debt “unpatriotic” – serious talk from what looked to be a serious reformer.
Yet by his own decisions, President Obama has added more debt than any other president before him, and more than all the troubled governments of Europe combined. One president, one term, $5 trillion in new debt."
----------
"Behind every small business, there’s a story worth knowing. All the corner shops in our towns and cities, the restaurants, cleaners, gyms, hair salons, hardware stores – these didn’t come out of nowhere. A lot of heart goes into each one. And if small businesspeople say they made it on their own, all they are saying is that nobody else worked seven days a week in their place. Nobody showed up in their place to open the door at five in the morning. Nobody did their thinking, and worrying, and sweating for them. After all that work, and in a bad economy, it sure doesn’t help to hear from their president that government gets the credit. What they deserve to hear is the truth:
Yes, you did build that."
----------
"College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life. Everyone who feels stuck in the Obama economy is right to focus on the here and now. And I hope you understand this too, if you’re feeling left out or passed by: You have not failed, your leaders have failed you. "
-----------
"None of us have to settle for the best this administration offers – a dull, adventureless journey from one entitlement to the next, a government-planned life, a country where everything is free but us.
Listen to the way we’re spoken to already, as if everyone is stuck in some class or station in life, victims of circumstances beyond our control, with government there to help us cope with our fate."
----------
"We’ve (Romney/Ryan) had very different careers – mine mainly in public service, his mostly in the private sector. He helped start businesses and turn around failing ones. By the way, being successful in business – that’s a good thing."
----------
"We will not duck the tough issues, we will lead.
We will not spend four years blaming others, we will take responsibility.
We will not try to replace our founding principles, we will reapply our founding principles.
The work ahead will be hard. These times demand the best of us – all of us, but we can do this. Together, we can do this.
We can get this country working again. We can get this economy growing again. We can make the safety net safe again. We can do this.
Whatever your political party, let’s come together for the sake of our country. Join Mitt Romney and me. Let’s give this effort everything we have. Let’s see this through all the way. Let’s get this done."
----------
EXACTLY! What stark contrasts from the rhetoric, legislation, and big-government ideals of Obama and his followers.
America IS at a very dangerous tipping point in its history. Ryan, Rice, Walker, Ann Romney, Chris Christie, and many other Republicans have eloquently pointed out in speeches the past few days the vast dissimilarity between the two parties. The glaring differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are out there for all to see.
The choice is easy: four more years of "tearing America down" with divisiveness, socialism, and class warfare in the forefront OR four years of returning to the foundations that built this country and made it great? Most Americans DO believe in the exceptionalism of the country, in spite of Obama!

Even in Tampa there is stimulus money in the pockets of small business people.

As for the GOP convention, can't wait for Clint Eastwood! The lefties have Ellen Barkin, who wishes all Republicans at the GOP would be killed by Hurricane Isaac, we have Clint Eastwood to utter: you feel lucky, punk?
Thanks for the laughs, jman99! We'll be laughing all the way when Obama is kicked out of the White House and replaced with an adult come November!

" Guess you missed the memo on Sally Kohn (for a wee bit of background on ole' Sal, she is a "former community activist turned political commentator (this comes from her own website: http://sallykohn.com/about/ ), who wrote the hit piece on Ryan. In her own words from her own website:
"Fox News asked me to write the liberal response to Paul Ryan’s GOP convention speech last night. So I did. I described it in three words: Dazzling, Deceiving and Distracting."
So a big leftie and self-described "radical" writes an article on Fox - at least they asked for a leftie viewpoint! Meanwhile, the Obama Fan Club members posing as "journalists" continue to bash everything about Romney, Ryan, and the GOP convention in general. And, looks like women aren't real women and minorities aren't real minorities if they are Republicans!!! Too funny.
The left is making itself look totally ridiculous and out-of-touch as each day goes by. Obama ain't helpin' things, either. But, wait! There is excitement in the air! Obama will be allowing VP Joe "we be gaffes" Biden to visit Wisconsin on Sunday, two days before the Democraticpalooza begins...

Credit Flint Eastwood with being a closet conservative in Hollywood. Even a
tough guy like him has to play along to get along. It's like being a straight guy on
Project Runway.

talking points of the minute.
Break away from the Obamaganda Borg machine and think for yourself. You
won't be angry all the time.

And Jman99 - I love Clint Eastwood. Among a sea of ultra-leftie socialists in Tinseltown - most whose lives are a train wreck - Eastwood stands head and shoulders above them all. Love his movies love the man. Who DOESN'T like Dirty Harry - except maybe the anti-gun, pro-criminal rights advocates (hmmm, that description covers a lot of lefties!)....

His direction in Invictus was superb.
The Dirty Harry stuff is pretty juvenile in comparison with some of the other roles he's taken on in his life. And if you think that was the high point of his career, it says more about you than him.
I think you are getting the mythical characters he's played mixed up with the very fine Actor/Director.
I like Clint, he's way more sane than the current crop of folks who think they're republicans.

"Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling.
Hilarious! Explain how restraining Obama from signing a 4th CONSECUTIVE TRILLION dollar deficit is bad for credit. Nice try.
Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in
Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W.
Bush. Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to prevent other plants from closing.
NOT TRUE. Ryan blamed Obama for BREAKING his PROMISE to keep "this plant open for another 100 years". Desptie the government takeover of GM, Obama gave the money to Solyndra (campaign donors) instead of sending another car line to the "on standby" Janesville Plant that has been idle since APRIL 2009 (over 15 months after Obama made his commitment to them)
Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn't what the president said. Period.
Correct. Obama said it in fewer words. "You didn't build that"
Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of
Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement
rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget plan.
Those are "theoretical" savings. IF/Until they are realized, Medicare is $700 Billion in the hole.
Don't trust the liberal's shallow analysis - Think for yourself Georgedub
