Those moving words from President Ronald Reagan have fallen on deaf ears and seem irrelevant today. The election of November 6, 2012 just marked a turning point in American history. It now appears that many Americans are quite content in expecting the government to provide for them from birth until death. We have reached that tipping point - where people ask not "what can I do for my country?" but instead "what can my country do for me?"
With the re-election of one of the worst (if not THE worst) president in the history of our nation, we have sealed our fate. Not much can be done for the time being. Obamacare will become a frightening reality. Fiscal irresponsibility will be the norm. Unemployment will rise yet again. The military will become weaker. America will become what the left desires - mediocre and rebuilt as another socialist France. I do fear that things are going to get much worse in the days, months, and years to come. The America we know and love may cease to exist.

Yup, that's happening, and if Michigan can get rid of that moron who owns the Ambassador bridge, things will get even better. Keystone will be signed in by mid 2013, unless the state governors go against it and hold it up.

Think jobs are coming back? No. In fact, Obama will shut down the coal and oil industries, losing jobs and energy sources - crippling our country even more. Obamacare will kill off private insurance. Obamacare will force employers to put their employees on Obamacare (it is cheaper, so what is the incentive for employers to pay more for employee insurance when they do not have to?). More people, less doctors, longer waits, worse care! Hey, we're a European socialist country now!!! More people will rely on food stamps. More people will lose jobs. And the country will become less safe, as our enemies rejoice in an Obama win - and our military spending faces drastic cuts under Obama.
Maybe after four more years of "The One" the clueless will wake up. Although, sadly it appears as though the "me-me-me" mentality has taken hold in many Americans. A very sad day - and years to come - for our country.
Less than 300 years and the United States is basically going under before our eyes.

The landscape of America is changing.
People feel they are entitled to "things" and will vote for the candidate that will give them "stuff.""
Now, we all know how the government is able to give out "stuff" (entitlements) - by picking the pockets of the taxpayers. While half of America works hard or struggles to find work, the other half apparently feels "entitled" to take what the working crowd earns. Sad, but true.

Just as our own Tammy "you're damn right" Baldwin portrayed herself as a "moderate." She is the most extreme liberal in the Senate - she may even be more extreme than Obama - which is saying a lot. Yet, she could not run on what she truly believes or she would have frightened the voters off. So now we will see the "real" Tammy emerge. Let's follow her voting record for a year, then maybe we can pull out the favorite liberal trick - a recall effort!!!

government that works for the people not for their pharma contacts, their investments and

Obama... Think about someone other than yourself and your own narrow view... Why not
work to put better ideas out in a constructive way here than to just complain about not

Yea, what a dark period in our nations history, many good people were ruined by
McCarthy's need to stroke his own ego.
We certainly do not need to go back there.
I do have to the the GOP credit for motivating voters, unfortunately for the right it
didn't work in their favor this time. They turned the volume up loud enough that
people took notice, and some how enough saw through the rhetoric and political
fog that always blows in during elections.

young and old conservatives are waiting on the sideline for the conservative party to
enter the 21st century. The world is moving forward. Everyone now knows good
people who are gay and are being discriminated against. I personally know many,
many people including myself who would quickly return to the conservative
movement if it would embraced human equality as well as women's rights. You
think that people don't understand the fiscal dilemma we face. Many do but they will
never return to vote for a party that doesn't embrace gay rights.
People are looking for a party that is inclusive of minorities, gays and women but is
fiscally conservative. That party doesn't exist. Until it does, more and more young
enlightened, educated voters will continue to vote Democrat. I feel bad voting for tax
and spend but am more proud to vote for equal rights for all americans.
The GOP must move in this direction. We need an inclusive party that can grow in
size rather than a far right leaning party that will continue to lose members as the
old guard pass away and the youth of america are driven away by bigoted right wing
50's mentality.

relative cannot marry and the republican president states that he favors an
amendment that would ensure she never can, that is not inclusive! When I know
people who have lived productive lives, contributing to society with loving families but
are here illegally and the republican president says he will do everything in his power
to get that person to self deport, that is not inclusive! To say that as a governor, he
hired some women and allowed them to get home in time to make supper for their
husbands, does not make the party inclusive. To say that he feels that it is
government's role to involve themselves in women's health issues is not inclusive.
The republican party needs to wake up quickly. I am watching a generation of fiscal
conservatives voting for a Democrat because of these issues. It is sad to see, but
even you cannot accept this truth. You keep denying this reality, it is slapping you in
the face. For how many elections will the conservatives live in this alternate reality
until they realize, it's not about the economy, it's not about taxes? It's about human
dignity and human rights. It is not the media creating this. I see it all around me
and so do thousands of others. It is their brothers, sons, sisters daughters nieces
and nephews. It's neighbors, people we work with, our friends and their friends.
It's so simple, but I realize now, you cannot see it. I just hope the republican party
can.
