Aaaauuuggghh! We Lost!!
The morning dawned dark and dreary. A cold drizzle was falling. I went out to my mailbox to get the paper and...there it was, big, black and scary: the headline--"It's Obama!" My heart sank. I hadn't watched the election coverage the night before. I went to bed fat, dumb and happy. Today, on this depressing day, the truth slammed into me. We are doomed! We won't survive another four years of the Evil One.
The I went into the kitchen. There, at my window feeder was a tiny black-capped chickadee. Another was at my (heated) bird bath drinking. Then a beautiful crimson cardinal flew onto my white bird feeder in the yard. Then I realized, God was in his Heaven and all was right with the world. Life would go on and we would suvive.
O.K., that's a bit embellished. I didn't--and don't--think we are doomed. I don't like our continuing president. I think he is not good for this country. He will try to drag this nation further to the left, perhaps with some success. The economy will stagger onward in the doldrums. Unemployment will stay high because many businesses, especially small ones, will be reluctant to expand and hire due to uncertainty about government regulations and the impact of Obamacare.
But we will survive! Four years is a drop in the bucket of history. This is a strong country, with great resources that, unfortunately, we are not utilizing. But this nonsense of renewable energy, windmills and solar panels, will eventually sink under its own weight of excessive cost and inefficiency. If by some miracle it doesn't, then I am wrong and it will work, which would be a good thing.
The greatest danger, in my view, is the rise of an entitlement class of people who depend on government for sustenance. This includes many college students, who came out in droves for Obama thinking that he would somehow forgive their loans and/or provide for their education. Should this group become too large, we could have an "Atlas Shrugged" condition where the payers would be buried by the takers. Remember, government has no money of its own. All is our, or China's, money, and the latter is not limitless. Thus, the drift toward socialism, if that's where we're headed and I believe it is, will of necessity be self-limited and will collapse of its own weight. I doubt we will get that far. This country has too long and successful an experience with capitalism.
So, take heart, all you conservative Republicans out there drowning in your beer. At some point we have to learn that we cannot win a negative smear campaign. The left is too good at it, based on long experience. Regardless of media hand-wringing, negative ads do work. In this campaign, they persisted despite published rebuttals. Repetition is diabolically effective. As Alvin Toffler said many years ago (1965 to be exact), "We are advancing the sophistication of deception faster than the technology of verification. The consequence of this is the end of truth." We are there, Dorothy.
Bottom line, I am not depressed. Personally, I believe God has blessed America and will continue to do so. As the Desiderata says, "Although it may not always be clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." So again, take heart, losers. There is always another day.

I give the right more credit for smearing the right, by providing some real ammunition.
"I didn't--and don't--think we are doomed."

During those four years he exhibited no statesmanship and no leadership, and yet this was the product that was to convince 51% of the electorate that he had current an valid credentials to move forward, while surrounding himself with the same old advisers who had moved the economy to the cliff in 2008 and put two wars on credit.
New and improved hew was not, and as the swing states showed, most saw through the glitzy packaging. there was nothing here that had improved since the 2008 primaries. How could the RNC foist second best on the American people?
Huntsman would have made the better candidate for the RNC. Better creds and here was a republican trusted by democrats. Why he was shown the door, I'll never know.

Geeze Al, you are supporting a bunch of "takers" there.

I really believe the world will be a better as a result of this election.
Here is why - The plutocratic cabal (Sheldon Adelson, Koch Brothers, et., al.) thought they could buy an election.
They "invested" a bunch of their "hard-earned wealth" with absolutely NOTHING to show for it. Their return on investment (ROI) was -100%!!! And, you know there will be some hell to pay!
And that is Beautiful, just Beautiful.
For all you repub's out there, this should be a time for serious reflection on exactly what the republican "brand" really stands for. You really need to reflect on an observation made by Alec Baldwin -
"You know your party is in trouble if someone asks if the rape guy won, and you have to ask which one?"

have made a better Republican candidate. A two term governor of New Mexico that
has a real record of reaching across the isle.
But for some reason they didn't want to give him a chance. He was blocked from
the debates.

My bet is on a 3rd party splitting off to become the true "conservative" (not libertarian) voice. Good for them. They'll garner a solid 15% of the vote if they do everything right (and get a huge pile of cash from somewhere).

The republican "establishment" has been taken over by radical conservative zealots. You have to pass a litmus test to prove you are a "Genuine" conservative. Not some run-of-the-mill conservative, mind you, but the real deal. Romney had to do a complete makeover in order to win the nomination.
And the biggest problem with conservatism? You will never be radical enough. There will always be someone more radically conservative than you. And then they will set the new "standard for conservatism." That is, until someone comes along demonstrating they are even more conservative and the screw turns once again.
How does it end, you may ask? A once respectable, inclusive political party either is reclaimed by more moderate forces, if there are any left, or they will be banished to the wilderness for another 40 years.

manager of the state when the ceo of the country screws us all !!! Thanks o !
Pierre Del Norte - Nov 09, 2012 9:40 AM
On a range of issues, from his grand scheme to partially privatize the Department of Commerce with his WI Economic Development Corp., which he was Chairman of the Board, to his abject failure to prepare the State for the implementation of The Affordable Healthcare Act.
The reality is, Walker is simply an incompetent manager who has surrounded himself with equally incompetent administrators.
And his big claim? - Wisconsin is open for business. In fact, there is not a CEO in this, or any other country, that observed the incomprehensible mismanagement of this state, and decide to move their business here.
Another fact is - In business, a resume does matter. The voters of WI hired a college dropout who has sucked off the nipple of the republican political establishment his entire career.
With a resume like that - just what did the voters expect?

Here is a fascinating link that shows the impact of rising sea levels in the populated coastal areas in the US.
Just in case you might be wrong about this whole climate change thing! :)

When you bring up climate change people assume you mean man made !!!
The reason is your side noticed they were wrong and switched the way they said it
so it sounded OK !!
Now again prove where man is to blame ?
Prove that man controls weather ?
Until then you can get off your high horse , and start admittibng you are not correct
!! lol...

Pierre; Never denied there was some global warming, just what is causing it.
There are as many if not more radical liberals--we elected one to the Senate--that radical conservatives. Also, I think George Soros and Move-On effectively balance the Kochs.
KM awarded a fat-cat contract before Act 10. The only thing we got was a change in health insurance suppliers and a pension add-on adjustment. The teacher's union has packed the School Board.
That's all I have time for now. Don't get nasty, folks.
WFB resident - Nov 09, 2012 11:27 AM
office ? Now will you wingnuts tell those wing nut judges to stop blocking what we
Wisconsinites voted for ?? lol...
Pierre Del Norte - Nov 09, 2012 11:35 AM
Let's be honest. The state supreme court is not currently operating effectively because at least 2 of its members are wholly owned subsidiaries of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, bought and paid for.
