Merry Christmas to all!
In past years, I have used the following YouTube clip to wish readers a Merry Christmas. (Please note: I refuse to become part of the politically-correct crowd who meekly wishes "Happy Holidays" for fear of offending those in the perpetually-offended crowd... As Charlie Brown would say "Good Grief!" - it is Chrismas, after all!!!)
Lest we forget the true meaning of the season, no one sez it better than a cartoon character (ironic, isn't it?). Here is Linus's speech telling us what Christmas is all about - from "A Charlie Brown Christmas:"
Enjoy and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!

"The secular reader may thus refute the sacred interpretation by denying the intentions of Schulz. This denial is backed by quotes from Schulz. To answer Mark2000's subsequent question, "Just what did this guy believe in?" is rather difficult. Joanne Greenberg, author of I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, gave Schulz the label "secular humanist". Schulz himself once admitted in an interview, "I don't even know what secular humanism is" (Schulz Complete Peanuts 330). In the same interview, Schulz's belief system is articulated as clearly as anywhere else, as Schulz himself often skirted the issue, but a distinct answer is hard to identify. Perhaps he dodged the question because he wanted his strip to maintain its mainstream appeal, or perhaps he was shy in answering the question because of his lifetime of pain and rejection, suffering shyness, weak stature, failure in physics and English, rejection from publishers, his mother's death, and the marriage proposal rejection by Donna Johnson (Chin). That may explain why Peanuts could serve as a great outlet for his beliefs. It is also possible that his theology was difficult for him to articulate, as he said, "the more I talk about it the more difficult it gets for me to express it and it just simply gets away from me!" (Conversations 41). "
Schulz used his "spiritual side", as exemplified by Linus' reading of Luke, to reach out to both the secular and religious to enlighten the world to the beauty of Christmas. Regardless of whether you "buy into it" - Merry Christmas, and Human Light Day everyone.

Do a little research Charles Schultz Had an argument with the networks over this line from Linus they wanted it omitted from the show, he would have none of it either this line stayed in or he was pulling the entire show off. Guess who won. Ya see Charles Schultz was a devout Christian man he wasn’t going to give in to the are not’s
Here’s what so great about this country if ya don’t like what’s on turn the channel.

I also find it disheartening that the lefties here would seize on a statement (whether or not from Schultz) as to his "secular" belief. (A brief sentence. Whether or not he meant it is suspect.) As though not being religious is somehow something to be celebrated. Way to go, Chuck! You admitted just a few days before you died that you didn't believe in God! Way to go!!! Sorry, wrong-o, guys.
Most accounts continue to say Schultz was a devout Lutheran and was a member of the Church of God (up until his death). If the religious aspect of Schultz's life bothers you so much, I'd say you have a problem.
A sad problem.

about himself shortly before his passing was nothing more than a baldfaced lie.
Charles Schultz was a baldfaced lying devout Christian ... no inconsistency there. ;-)

It also doesnt mean that anyone else is.
When I said "NO ONE CARES!! NO ONE'S OFFENDED!!", I meant NO ONE, period. True I dont know everybody in the world, but as I said before, I know quite a number of atheists, many of them could be called hard core, and if you want to wish them a Merry Christmas, they would think well of you for wishing them a, in your mind, a positive thing. The only one who is offended be a well meaning greeting is you.
Im not sure anyone here or elsewhere cares or is bothered by what Schultz actually beleived, except you.
