America - designed by geniuses, run by idiots.

You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
You can get arrested for expired tags on your car but not
for being in the country illegally.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Your government believes that the best way to eradicate
trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more of our
money.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
A seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for
calling his teacher "cute" but hosting a sexual
exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly
acceptable.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
The Supreme Court of the United States can rule that
lower courts cannot display the 10 Commandments in
their courtroom, while sitting in front of a display of the
10 Commandments.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Children are forcibly removed from parents who
appropriately discipline them while children of
"underprivileged" drug addicts are left to rot in filth
infested cesspools of a “home”.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Hard work and success are rewarded with higher taxes
and government intrusion, while some slothful, lazy
behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks,
Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
The government's plan for getting people back to work is
to provide 99 weeks of unemployment checks (to not
work).
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Being self-sufficient is considered a threat to the
government.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to
the constitution is really protecting the rights of the
people.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
The rights of the Government come before the rights of
the individual.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
You can write a post like this just by reading the news
headlines.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
You pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the
newest big screen TV while your neighbor defaults on his
mortgage (while buying iPhones, TV's and new cars) and
the government forgives his debt and reduces his
mortgage (with your tax dollars).
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes
you "safe".
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
You have to have your parents signature to go on a
school field trip but not to get an abortion.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
An 80 year old woman can be stripped searched by the
TSA but a Muslim woman in a burka is only subject to
having her neck and head searched.
====================================
You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...
Using the "N" word is considered "hate speech" but
writing and singing songs about raping women and
killing cops is considered "art".
------------------------
Thanks to several people who sent me the post above.
It clearly is making its rounds on the 'net. However, if
it were up to me, I'd substitute the word "idiots" with
"liberals" (or "socialists"). Just sayin'...

"Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people."
Are these made up, or do you have actual instances??
ahemmer - Jan 03, 2013 5:55 PM
Also, if your kids are obese, watch out! The state may want to remove them from your house! See: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/watch-out-parents-the-state-may-want-to-take-away-your-obese-kids/
(MGarber - you made this too easy. By the way, I didn't write the blurb I featured in my blog. But it sure was easy to find "actual instances" as you asked.)
As for the Consititution being under attack: 2nd Amendment anyone? Gun rights? Or 1st Amendment for that matter - freedom of speech? Look at how the lefties are looking to shut down talk radio. Or how certain terms and phrases can land you in the slammer. Egads.
WFB: The socialist Nazi's of yesterday have a lot more in common with the Democratic Party in the U.S. of A. today. As for the KKK - remember good ole' Robert Byrd? Democratic U.S. Senator (longest serving). Voted against the Civil Rights Act. Also, big shot in the Klan: Byrd held the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops. Wow! Yet, AOK by the Dems?!? What - no problem. Nothing to see! Move along... what a bunch of hypocrites...

Leaving bruises on a 2year old child is not "appropriate.. discipline".
"Or how certain terms and phrases can land you in the slammer."
Really?? Honestly??
You would be well served to ackowledge the ridiculous cases and leave them behind.
ahemmer - Jan 03, 2013 8:19 PM
For this, the Dept. of Family and Protective Services stepped in and took this woman's child away. The mother in question was forced to pay a fine ($50 to a Children's Advocacy Center) and take parenting classes UNTIL the Dept. deems her worthy of getting her child back.
Exactly. The state/government stepping in, in an effort to execute more control. Just like the government telling people what their children can and cannot eat at school. Or whether or not people can even sell a certain size soda to customers! Insane.
As for spanking, whether or not you agree or disagree, it should be left up to parents as to how to discipline their children - within reason of course. Many children these days are growing up little monsters cuz mommy and daddy want to be "best friends" rather than parents. Kids do whatever, whenever, with no consequences. Maybe if more was expected of children in regards to behavior, we'd see less of the violence and criminal behavior and disrespect we see in many young people these days.

fiscal cliff while the NDAA passes unnoticed. The vote count on that bill shows
stripping rights is a "buy"partisan goal.

1) They think they know what is best for all.
2) They despise religion and want the government to be God.
3) Propoganda manipulators - controlling the press. The media does their bidding. Wow - this one really hits home - with the media these days better known at the "Obama Fan Club" - helping Barry whenever they can and keeping the "low information voters" in the dark.
4) The cult of the Leader. Look at how the left fawns all over Obama - refusing to admit to any flaws. Promoting him as "cool." He can do no wrong - he is never to blame for anything. Look at how the Germans idolized Hitler - until it was too late.
5) Use of diversions (like class warfare and any major crisis (whether created or real) to draw attention away from what is happening to the country. The Germans used the Reichstag fire of 1933 to suspend civil liberties under emergency decree. Obama is using class warefare and the economy to re-make the the country and the middle class.
6) Attacking and creating "scapegoats" to blame for their own misdeeds (like Obama and the Dems repeatedly blaming Bush or Republicans for their own mistakes).
7) Contempt for Democracy.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 7:31 AM
Grover Norquest and the pledge? You are not suppose to pledge to a potentate in America.
"The cult of the Leader. Look at how the left fawns all over Obama - refusing to admit to any flaws. Promoting him as "cool." He can do no wrong - he is never to blame for anything. "
Sounds like the Romney Campaign. Heck even those on the religious right who previously accused him of belonging to a cult, were suddenly having " road to Damascus" moments where they had huge pressure to recant and make Romney main stream in their eyes for votes. It was sickening.
"Propoganda manipulators - controlling the press. The media does their bidding. Wow - this one really hits home - with the media these days better known at the "Obama Fan Club" - helping Barry whenever they can and keeping the "low information voters" in the dark."
The biggest help Obama is getting is from Fox News which has become the provisional media arm of the Republican Party.
"The Germans used the Reichstag fire of 1933 to suspend civil liberties under emergency decree."
Sounds a bit like what Bush did after 9/11
"Attacking and creating "scapegoats" to blame for their own misdeeds (like Obama and the Dems repeatedly blaming Bush or Republicans for their own mistakes)."
Well that would be Republicans and Latino workers, especially in Arizona.
" Contempt for Democracy. "
Over 3,000,000 Republican voters stayed home this past election: that's contempt for democracy, if you cant be bothered to vote but you want to complain about the direction of the country.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 7:34 AM

OK lets put that one to the test. Please post those phrases here and we'll see if you end up in the slammer.

Hemmer, when did you get the degree in Psychology?
Most kids who get spanked have huge issues with self worth when they are older.
People who have issues with self worth equally have less regard for the worth of others.
You have to ask yourself, If you really love another person, why would you ever hit them to modify their behaviour? Spanking and hitting is a sign of frustration and an inability to cope with a situation by the person who is in charge.
Too many wear the scars of this both physical and mental for the rest of their lives.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 8:19 AM
You can write a post like this just by reading the news
headlines."
Well there's the whole problem. If you just read the headlines and you don't go into the facts and arguments that make up the issues from both sides, you can definitely post something like you have.
But, I am not surprised.
MGarber - Jan 04, 2013 9:59 AM
Pretty much.
When you translate the punishing the probable abuse of a child/infant ("nearly" two years old, according to the article) into some sort of big-brother-usurps-the-family conspiracy, then you're basically free to makeup/justify whatever sounds juicy.
MGarber - Jan 04, 2013 10:05 AM
"Just like the government telling people what their children can and cannot eat at school."
- and -
the government providing guidelines for what the government subsidised school luch programs should consist of.
then you're basically free to makeup/justify whatever sounds juicy.
Its the same sloppy thinking that's been used to decry the "loss" of prayer in schools for the last 50 years.

The opinion among the Left that the Constitution is archaic or "in the way" is becoming more popular to express openly due to our leader and his belief that our Constitution is a "charter of negative liberties" (Obama 2001)

Careful what you ask for - a bleeding heart liberal may not always be in charge.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 10:55 AM
Actually if you read the article, he was not arrested. He was placed in psychiatric hospital. Not that I'm condoning it, but since 9/11 and the extensive powers that were granted under Bush, the idea of a threat has become cornerstone in pro-active police work.
With the other , you are reaching.
The third is interesting in that even the framers figured the constitution had a "best before" date and was not sacred in its words or intent.
Mucho - Jan 04, 2013 11:05 AM
"Officials insist the seizure was not an arrest because there are no criminal charges, but an ACLU investigator disagrees, “I have reviewed the video of Mr. Raub's arrest. According to federal statute, when the police restrained the subject with handcuffs and stopped him from moving about under his own free will, at that point the subject was, in fact, under arrest. The fact that he was not read his Miranda Rights is another violation."
The third instance cited was a preacher being arrested for praying on the street. I don't care if it is an anti war protestor or a Christian preacher- both these occurrances were wrong.
As for your thoughts on an expiration date on the Constitution - Your willingness to hand over rights that hundreds of thousands of Americans died to protect is very telling of your "constitution".
MGarber - Jan 04, 2013 11:08 AM
(You *are* a fan of the ACLU, right Mucho?).
The 3rd one is a case of violating a longstanding local (we aint talkin Big Brother here) ordinance which probably should be challanged as well.
Im not sure how your last 3 paragraphs relate to anything.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 11:35 AM
I did no such thing. You are beginning to sound Hayettesque.
Mucho - Jan 04, 2013 11:44 AM
As for the trend of the Left to cherry pick the Constitution and call for it to be more flexible and "living" - that relates to the following quips in hemmer's BLOG:
"Being self-sufficient is considered a threat to the government." (Obamacare's insistence that public purchase their product)
"Using the "N" word is considered "hate speech" but writing and singing songs about raping women and killing cops is considered "art". (Selective application of 1st amendment)
"Being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you "safe". (Current attack on 2nd ammendment instead of root cause)
"Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people." (Pretty broad statement here)
While I agree with the irony found in many of the one liners above, blaming it all on one party is ridiculous. All the "good intent" behind legislation is lost whenever it intrudes on our God given rights. The Constitution (w/ Bill of Rights)does as good a job as any stating what those are.

And its about 2 hours long.
it is NOT a "great" movie (I had issues with some of the editing, and its length), but it will, I beleive, be recognized as an important movie. The acting, from everyone, is top notch.
It IS sort of amazing that this country has largely ignored the legacy of slavery (one of our less-than-exceptional moments) in terms of popular culture. Alex Haley (Roots) took a good shot at it, but that was pretty much it asside from Blazing Saddles.
Mucho - Jan 04, 2013 5:02 PM

Mr Balanced - Jan 04, 2013 6:28 PM
Oh how soon you forget. What a shame. Gotch ya Mr
“Not surprisingly, in all the lies and accusations of racism by the radical left wing, the truth becomes distorted not only about the Republicans but also the Democrats who make these accusations themselves. For instance, you may or may not have heard Democrat Senator Robert Byrd's outburst of racist bigoted slurs, more specifically the "n-word," on national television in March of 2001. Amazingly, this incident of blatant racism on national television drew barely a peep from the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond, Mary Frances Berry, or any of the other ambulance chasers who purport themselves to be the leaders of the civil rights movement. In contrast, the main source of well deserved criticism for Byrd's racist outburst came not from any of the so called leaders of the civil rights movement but from from Republican Majority Leader Dick Armey (source). The race hustlers Jackson, Mfume et al turned a blind eye towards this act of racism by one of their own party, at most issuing an unpublicized slap on the wrist, or, as was more often the case, making not a peep. But where the race hustlers turn a blind eye and spew their lies, it is up to conservatives to set the record straight with the truth.
In response to the growing practice of racial McCarthyism by prominent left wing Democrats, it is necessary to expose the truth about the Democrat Party's record on Civil Rights:

You know this country is run by idiots (the press for example) when so many Democrats complain about Bush and Cheney making money on the oil industry while Al Gore just made even more from the oil industry than both combined. Our press refuses to report this and the Democrats ignore it.
jman99 - Jan 04, 2013 8:11 PM
Are you denying this?
"Using the "N" word is considered "hate speech" but
writing and singing songs about raping women and
killing cops is considered "art". "
It depends on the context.
Neil young has a number of songs that deal with killing:
"Down by the river " Man shoots girlfriend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB5bGDPJakE
"Four dead in Ohio" National guards shoot students
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GXtQfXBAmM
"Powderfinger " Shooting at revenue agents
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6xNft9MutQ
All of these are considered "art" because of context. They are story telling to music.
The other is not, because it it used in an inflammatory context.

I dont know which particular song(s) you're talking about. Im not a big fan of rap and consider little (but not all) of it to be art.

You know our nation is run by idiots when included in the President’s “fiscal cliff” tax hike bill is more pork, which of course he did promise to have no more pork and full transparency if we elected him and then reelected him, that includes, well, yes, these tax breaks:
Tax breaks for Hollywood producers who shoot their movies and TV shows in the U.S., at a cost of about $430 million through 2014. (how interesting is that. Isn’t Hollywood one of President Obama’s largest supporters?)
• A program that sends most federal taxes collected on rum produced in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands back to those territories to subsidize domestic production. Bar tab: $222 million over two years.
• A tax break worth about $15 million a year for asparagus growers hit hard by cheap asparagus imported from Peru.
• $4 million in tax breaks over the next two years for people who buy "2- or 3-wheeled plug-in electric vehicles" — in other words, electric scooters, Segways and the like.
Oh, there is plenty More Amy

The Republicans were damned if they did and damned if they didn't in regards to voting for the crappy bill that came out at the last minute (after we jumped off the cliff, then jumped back on). They did it for the good of the country - to save the taxpayers from even worse had we just gone over the cliff and remained there. That is really what Obama and the Dems would have liked - higher taxes on all, plus a huge cut to the military. The Republicans do not have to "take ownership" of this crappy bill. Obama and the Dems are in charge. Obama has to take ownership...for once?....a....maybe forget that...he seems to avoid doing so at all costs...He just likes to spike the football when his henchmen (and women) do his work for him...

Not sure what you mean about "why did Republicans want the tax cuts extended when they wanted the base expanded?"
Do you mean that Republicans need to become pro-entitlement in order to expand the base? I don't agree with that in any sense. I think there are still a majority of people out there who do not want a life of dependency ala Obama & the Dems. I would venture to say that many people who are supported by the government right now are not happy about it and still do have some dignity left. They would like to better their situations by working their way OUT of a life of dependency, rather than continually voting Democratic to remain in a life of reliance from big government.
I would also venture to say that a majority of the populace needs to hear the right conservative message - from the right messenger - smaller government and stronger defense and less taxes. In contrast, the message from the Dems: "You didn't build that" and "we'll give you your every want and need as long as you vote for us" plays well for the "low information voter" and those who do not know any better, nor believe they are capable of doing great things on their own WITHOUT Uncle Sam giving them handouts.

Maybe this should be the question Democratsshould be asking.
Remember this famous compliant/quote by President Obama that must have slipped your mind? Not to mention millions and million of others.
“A typical middle-class family of four would see its income taxes go up by $2,200. That's $2,200 out of people's pockets. That means less money for buying groceries, less money for filling prescriptions, less money for buying diapers. It means a tougher choice between paying the rent and paying tuition. And middle-class families just can't afford that now." Obama then emphasize that these cuts are a big deal and said "tell members of Congress what a $2,000 tax hike would mean to you” and that the Bush cut would be "a hit you cannot afford to take."
Carl, where were you the past 10 years, the liberal press, and the many Democrats in Washington, who complain daily that the “Bush tax cuts are only for the wealthy?” Didn’t our Democrats say these tax cuts back in 2004 and beyond will only help the likes of Bill Gates?
Now Obama says the tax cuts that the Republicans don’t want (which is also another dishonest statement) will help the middle-class immensely. Even Obama as a Senator was against these tax cuts. But now he is in favor. John Kerry de’ ja vu?

Maybe your Journal/Sentinel board?

Although, I do think that ALL working Americans should have some "skin in the game" - no matter how little or how much they earn. We all should contribute a reasonable amount in federal taxes to fund very specific limited government functions that individuals cannot do on their own - like national defense. Right now, almost half the country pays NO federal taxes. Yet, almost half the country has become the "takers" - living off of Uncle Sam - who lives off those who pay taxes. It is a vicious cycle that needs to stop. Make everyone contribute - no matter how much or how little - and I bet more Americans would notice and put a foot down to demand a stop to out-of-control spending and end the fiscal hole we continue to dig for ourselves.
ExToDResident - Jan 06, 2013 1:35 PM
I agree Amy!!!
Like the veteran who fought for this country needs to have “skin in the game” and “contribute” no matter how little. Sure they fought and were possibly injured but they need to “contribute” too!
And the person on Social Security Disability, it doesn’t matter what disability they have it isn’t societies fault that they are unable to hold a job; they just need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and learn how to fly right. That goes for the person receiving Social Security after retiring as well; sure you were taxed for a lifetime for that benefit, but you need to have “skin in the game” also no matter how little.
And of course the person at the bottom of the pay scale needs to have “skin in the game” as well. All those benefits the government provides you with (food stamps, housing assistance, unemployment) aren’t cheap and it’s MY TAX DOLLARS that pay for it.
We can’t allow any “free rides” in this country for people too cheap to pay their own way!!!

Yes a decreased rate, you could say the new rate was a cut rate compared to the previous rate.
"And when more people are allowed to keep more of their own hard-earned money, the economy benefits because people have more money to spend."
Economic stimulus that when not paid for by spending cuts leads to deficit spending.
Your second paragraph is a contridiction of itself , if you support extending current policy without reforms. And the 47% myth is short attention span political theater as that number includes non working citizens.
Isn't expanding the base in contridiction of the Norquist pledge?
WFB resident - Jan 06, 2013 8:57 PM
your community wants to tax you for giving guns to all people who live in the area at
a 10% tax rate . You tell them no taxes to this ,yet they say Ok no taxes to this !
They then tax you 5% and tel;l you it was reduced yet last year there was no tax for
equality in gun handling ! lol... Will you still say that there was a reduction ?

This is coming from the "Stupid Wing" of the GOP.
These are the same clowns that have celebrated climate change deniers, believe the earth is only 6,000 years old, that legitimate rape can't cause pregnancy, that all of our economic problems can be solved with bigger and bigger tax cuts for the rich, that holding the federal government hostage over the debt ceiling is sound fiscal policy, that the federal governments budgetary operations are the same as businesses and households, believe the US is on the same path as Greece, and the government can't create jobs -
And on, and on, and on............
The “stupid wing” of the GOP's idea of being smart is listening to the toxic unchallenged drivel that spews from that "intellectual cesspool" popularly known as conservative talk radio.
A once great political party has been taken over by the lunatic right-wing fringe.
That is what is really stupid - sad, but true.
Mucho - Jan 07, 2013 11:40 AM
??? How angry you must be to see right past the tragedy to find a way to twist a murder and mental illness in an inane attempt to impose an invalid prejudice upon others.
Besides being really disturbing, it does not even make sense.

Congratulations, you just went up 3 levels within the ranks of the liberal debate team. If you would have thrown in the phrase "super rich" or "fair share", you would have been promoted to Liberal Team Captain.

Cherry-picking quotes and gaffes out of context from some GOP members to pigeon hole all conservatives is childish. There is a littany of Biden statements and Obama's experience while traveling "all 57 states" that do not appropriately characterize all the liberals and socialists in the Democratic party.
A shallow view of the conservative position is appropriate for a you to take in order to neatly dismiss each individual mischaracterization that you listed without exercising any real thought. It is politically expedient and got our current president elected. See this video from 2008 for some of your like minded and educated voters : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8

"ALL" who espouse those ideas? For this to be true:
- EVERY Liberal believes in man made climate change
- NO Christian or Jewish Liberal believes in the OT's "young Earth"
- EVERY Liberal believes that ALL reported rapes are legitimate
- The GOP actually stated that ALL of our economic problems will be cured by tax cuts alone
- ALL Democrats believe that unlimited "quantitative easing" is without consequence
- NO Republican has ever pledged to "create jobs"
- NO Democrat believes in real spending cuts and ALL Republicans demand a balanced budget managed like their personal finances
Your simplistic mistatement of party positions explains a lot about why Obama won again and why the Dems are able to continue their con game on the poor to stay in power.

From the WSJ Jan 6
"Perhaps the greatest irony of the Obama Presidency is how much it has vindicated the antiterror strategy of its predecessor. The latest example is President Obama's vexed statement in signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013.
Among many other things, the bill strengthens existing Congressional limits on transferring detainees out of Guantánamo and other U.S. facilities either to the U.S. or to a third country. But while signing the law last week, Mr. Obama issued a nearly 1,800 word statement objecting to various provisions.
He protested, for example, that a provision limiting the transfer of detainees held in Afghanistan "could interfere with my ability as Commander in Chief to make time-sensitive determinations about the appropriate disposition of detainees in an active area of hostilities." Such decisions are typically made based on "the judgment of experienced military commanders and national security professionals without unwarranted interference by Members of Congress," he wrote. And he even suggested that if the provision "operates in a manner that violates constitutional separation of powers principles," he'll ignore it.
Well, well. Perhaps readers recall the uproar when George W. Bush issued similar "signing statements" defending Presidential war powers. The criticism was withering—from Barack Obama.
In 2007 Senator Obama made this pledge: "I will not use signing statements to nullify or undermine congressional instructions as enacted into law." In 2008 Candidate Obama said "Congress's job is to pass legislation. The president can veto it or he can sign it."
jhayett - Jan 07, 2013 4:29 PM
In his latest, Mr. Obama also criticized Congress for trying to limit his "constitutional duty to supervise the executive branch." This sounds a lot like the theory of the "unitary executive" that turned Bush-era officials like John Yoo into pariahs in the legal academy.
Peter123 - Jan 07, 2013 5:30 PM
President Obama is using signing statements to object to certain provisions of acts of Congress which he has signed. Objecting to laws is not the same as failing to follow them. It could be that he feels the other parts of the law are sufficiently important that he has to accept the other parts put in place.
Abiding by the Constitution when it conflicts with laws passed by Congress is the appropriate remedy. It's what we do as citizens, to gain standing to challenge the laws in the judicial branch. For an example, see the extensive reporting when Obamacare hit the Supreme Court about whether the issue was ripe for consideration.

The hate speech I am referring to in the phrase:
"Using the "N" word is considered "hate speech" but writing and singing songs about raping women and killing cops is considered "art""
is the damage that such an attitude is doing to our culture.
As 1 in 5 African American women continue to become rape victims in their lives you can just keep singing along to and supporting rappist/rapists like Tupac, Snoop Dog, Fat Joe and Mystikal as they call women Ho's and each other N's. Great stuff... in a word and back to Hemmer's topic: Idiotic.
You can either turn away from the sad reality of that situation or ignore it and attack those of us who care to promote the idea of rising above that filth.
Nice write up on the topic:

"The Trustees project that the assets of the OASI Trust Fund and of the combined OASI and DI Trust Funds will be adequate over the next 10 years
