NRA calls the shots...
Americans should applaud the NRA for:
1) Having the backbone to stand up to the Dear Leader (unlike many Republican and Conservative politicians)
2) Pointing out the glaring hypocrisy of the left. The "do as we say not as we do" crowd."
3) Pointing out that children DO deserve to be safe in schools.
4) All of the 23 (yes, you read that correctly) Executive Orders that Obama issued today in regards to gun control (oops, forgot the new moniker is now "gun violence") not one of them would have done ANYTHING to prevent Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, or other mass shootings. Plain and simple. All Obama is doing is targeting law-abiding citizens and their right to bear arms. (And Rush Limbaugh made an excellent point on his conservative talk radio show earlier - Obama wants more and more in-depth background checks and information on Americans - mainly on people who wish to buy and/or sell guns and/or visit a health care provider as to their mental state). When will we Americans get a background check on President Obama? Obama has YET to be properly vetted. What's up with that?)
5) The elitism of Obama and Co. is on full display (and the NRA commercial sure is "on target."). For some reason, Obama and his fellow socialists seem to believe they know best and the government can solve all of societies problems. Here's a news flash: Obama and Co. have no clue what is best for the American individual, and the government cannot solve every problem that pops up. (In fact, I'd venture to argue that the Obama government of today is the leader in creating problems (Obamacare anyone?).
6) Not caring if Obama and other lefties criticize and attack them for this commercial. (Already the liberal media is in a tizzy over this ad...)
Thank you, NRA - for having the guts to do what too many of our elected officials of today are afraid of. We need more people to stand up and speak out for America - and not let Obama destroy our country before our very eyes.

From my earlier comment, a few samplings of "the pork:"
$10 million for FBI salaries, $2 billion for road construction across the country, as well as funding for the Head Start program, roof repairs at the Smithsonian, and $150 million for fisheries. Throw in $16 BILLION (yes, BILLION) dollars for a "Community Development Block Grant" with no accountability - it's basically a "slush" fund for states...Egads.
Ah, the "Community Development Block Grant" - sounds like and ACORN slush fund...Obama loves it! Lots of dollars being given to do-nothing social agencies to line their own pockets and vote Democrat! Ah! America!

And then there's Katrina, oh yes, the storm that keeps on giving. Former New Orleans mayor Ray "I won't tell people to evacuate, because I don't know what that means, I'll hide out in the Bahamas, tell the Feds our chocolate city don't need no help, but then procede to blame them" Ragin...has just been indicted for corruption by a Grand Jury...from Katrina's aftermath...go figure.

Did you know the last time Congress passed a budget, the i-pad did not exist?
Why are 100% of all ghettos....owned by Democrats?

Well yeah, that's how it works, doesn't it George? After all, Obama actually caused Hurricane Sandy, didn't he? Due to his many failed green policies, right? Just like you were blamed, right George?
Here's something everybody should watch, especially the anti-gun crowd. World Champion shooter on Hannity last night, giving a live demonstration with various guns...now pay attention to the "oh so horrible AR15". Very informative, and she's not too bad to look at.

Notice I said "she"? By the way, wouldn't a woman who wants to own a gun...fall under the category of, oh lets say...someone who should have the right to choose? Fish in a barrel people...fish in a barrel. LOL!

"When your car (the economy) has gone off a cliff - he SHOULD be hitting the brake, not stomping on the gas."
Some how translates into:
WOW! You have really outdone yourself jman.
First of all the "car off the cliff" analogy was to demonstrate the futility of expecting gun control legislation to eliminate evil people. i.e. Stepping on the brakes is as effective at stopping the car as gun control is at preventing hostility.
Secondly - Objects don't fall at 32ft/sec/sec the accelerate at 32ft/s*s.
People that don't know the difference between Velocity and Acceleration fail physics. People that can't wrap their brains around figurative analogies lose intellectual arguments. "
What a maroon......

By topping it off with a personal insult at the end and you have summed up your approach to all intellectual debates I have seen you participate in to date.
Your contribution to this discussion would be a little more interesting if you dropped the personal insults, name calling, stayed on point and actually articulated a point. But then again, it's Hemmer's blog.

The ATF is not a cabinet level department and is attached to the justice department. So it shouldn’t be necessary to have the director confirmed by the Senate.
Except that our very own Jim Sensenbrenner inserted that clause into the patriot act, the NRA granted him a “Defender of Freedom” award that year.

The ATF, thanks to the NRA and the republicans, is hampered from doing anything regarding the regulation or tracking of any sales of firearms.

The ATF is another government agency that is suffering from the influences and controls that lobbying organizations like the NRA has on our representatives in congress.

For a good read on the dysfunctional congress there is the book; It’s Even Worse Than It Looks (How The American Constitutional System Collided With The New Politics of Extremism) by Thomas E. Mann, and Norman J. Ornstein.
One proposal that exemplifies the extremism is the Conrad – Gregg bill in January 2010, which had originally received support from Republicans like McConnell and McCain.
Until Barak Obama supported the bill then the republicans withdrew their support and killed the bill.
Since not much has changed in congress with the last elections I believe we are in for more of the same dysfunction that was present in the 112th congress is going to carry over into the 113th.

The democrats only pay rent there.

“He did not seek any other public office prior to his election in 2002. More controversially, Nagin had actually been a registered Republican for most of his adult life, having switched to the Democrats shortly before seeking office, for which his candidacy was branded as opportunistic in the solidly Democrat city. Nagin was, at that time, a known supporter of U.S. President George W. Bush, having contributed to the president’s campaign. Nagin entered the New Orleans mayoral race a political unknown but emerged through the middle of a crowded field of known Democrats, securing vital cross-party and in-party endorsements for his populist pledges to tackle city hall corruption and run the administration in a more business-like manner.”

Another 30 some tries at repealing "Obamacare"?
"You don't have to be an Einstein to know that hitting the brake while in free fall will
accomplish nothing."
Haven't you ever seen Bugs stop the crashing plane and step off once he hit the air brake?
