NRA calls the shots...

Americans should applaud the NRA for:

1) Having the backbone to stand up to the Dear Leader (unlike many Republican and Conservative politicians)

2)  Pointing out the glaring hypocrisy of the left.  The "do as we say not as we do" crowd."

3)  Pointing out  that children DO deserve to be safe in schools. 

4) All of the 23 (yes, you read that correctly) Executive Orders that Obama issued today in regards to gun control (oops, forgot the new moniker is now "gun violence") not one of them would have done ANYTHING to prevent Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, or other mass shootings.  Plain and simple.  All Obama is doing is targeting law-abiding citizens and their right to bear arms.  (And Rush Limbaugh made an excellent point on his conservative talk radio show earlier - Obama wants more and more in-depth background checks and information on Americans - mainly on people who wish to buy and/or sell guns and/or visit a health care provider as to their mental state).  When will we Americans get a background check on President Obama?  Obama has YET to be properly vetted.  What's up with that?)

5)  The elitism of Obama and Co. is on full display (and the NRA commercial sure is "on target.").  For some reason, Obama and his fellow socialists seem to believe they know best and the government can solve all of societies problems.  Here's a news flash:  Obama and Co.  have no clue what is best for the American individual, and the government cannot solve every problem that pops up.  (In fact, I'd venture to argue that the Obama government of today is the leader in creating problems (Obamacare anyone?).

6)  Not caring if Obama and other lefties criticize and attack them for this commercial.  (Already the liberal media is in a tizzy over this ad...)

Thank you, NRA - for having the guts to do what too many of our elected officials of today are afraid of.  We need more people to stand up and speak out for America - and not let Obama destroy our country before our very eyes.

    Applauding the NRA for this ad is like applauding yer buddy for his hold-my-beer-and-watch-THIS moment (while he proceeds to make a fool of himself).

    The NRA is just playing the 1% card that got Obama re-elected. I.e Obama's kids get School Choice and Armed Guards. Why keep those privileges and protections away from our kids by his executive orders?

    The MSNBC link posted by GW was all knee jerk emotion and no facts. Just name calling during a mid-day soap opera break.

    Mucho: I agree with your assessment of the knee jerk liberal reaction to the ad. In addition, Rush pegged Obama for using children during his go-after-guns speech today as what Rush called "human shields." The leftie stations burst a blood vessel. But guess what - all they did was attack Rush. He's cold. He's heartless...he's this...he's that.... Whatever. (By the way, Limbaugh was one of the voices actually advocating for children in schools - that they do need protection. Too bad under Barry O's leadership all we'll get is more attacks aimed at the honest, law-abiding gun owners. 23 more attacks to start. Thanks Obama!!! And re-naming "gun control" (bad connotation - makes people think the government is coming after their guns) with "gun violence" makes people think oh good, the government is helping!!! Just think "global warming" morphing into "climate change" under Obama. Or better yet, the "war on terror" now being called "the overseas contigency operation." Egads.
    They didn't mention that what Obama did (using and manipulating children who don't know any better - and supposedly "had written" anti-gun letters to The One (wonder if their teachers gave them the assignment?) was disgusting. I bet he had to hold back on not telling them to burst into song and sing the Dear Leader's praises: Barack Hussein Obama....mmmm....mmmm...mmmm.....

    The ad also properly points out Obama's "Do as I say, Not as I do" attitude and tragic history toward serious gun policy.

    In his "Big Plan" announced today, he declares that he will appoint a new ATF director. The ONE agency with "Firearms" in its title hasn't had a permanent leader during his entire tenure and his last appointed temporary head (Kenneth Melson) resigned over Obama's botched "Fast and Furious" scandal that killed hundreds of people including a US Border Patrol Agent.

    The two appointments that Obama made in the past 4 years that had direct responsibility for Firearm policy (Holder and Melson) have blood on their hands. Or doesn't the "even if one life could be saved" attitude apply to Mexican children and US Law enforcement?

    I think Obama should call the NRA out on this and simply put the National Guard in all schools with a "shoot on sight" order for anyone who approaches within 300 yards with a firearm.

    Equality.

Although I did see your link (I skip most links from lefties, especially if they have a "cnn" in the address). So sorry, I did not learn about the NRA ad from you.     No need to imagine. Of the $19mm in loans that might be uncollectible by the WEDC, $14.5mm is Doyle's mess from the dismanlted over staffed DOC. I'll hold Walker accountable for the $4.5mm if you hold Doyle accountable for his $14.5mm. The likelihood that Walker's "forgivable loans" might still be collected from the past 17 months is greater than the distant memory of another exposed Doyle financial failure. Did you read up on this to be nice to me or ar you just throwing out another ignorant softball for the educated to hit out of the park on you?

    Walker still has some more Doyle doo-doo to clean up and he is doing a great job.

    Prediction: Obama steps away from his long streak on hiring the most qualified "white male" for the job and picks an unqualified minority female for Director of the ATF to cover up his neglect for his base over hte past 2 months.

    Too bad he mocked Romney's binder full of qualified female candidates and will likely throw some newbie into the arena of public trust.

    In his bloviation today, Obama sez we have to do a better job of "tracking" guns...
    What about those guns the Obama Administration had a hand in sending down to criminal drug thugs in Mexico? Guns that eventually were used to kill a federal agent? How'd you do on tracking those? Hmmm...Mr. Obama?

    Obama sure didn't seem to care too much about tracking those guns - the ones that the government sent to Mexican criminals!!!! Egads. I just cannot make this stuff up.

    I want the Obama family protected better than the rest of us for the same reason I wanted the Bush family well protected a few years ago. If someone makes a credible threat against the Obama girls, it becomes a national security issue. That makes them targets. I don't want the President to have to choose between protecting his family and serving the interests of the country.

    There's nothing currently stopping Wisconsin schools from having armed guards. When I was at Arrowhead, there was a resource officer from the sheriff's department. He had a gun. I haven't had a chance to look over the executive orders, but I doubt they did anything about that.

    @Peter123: So you don't care if your kids are safe at school, as long as the Obama girls are, cuz they are waaay more important than your own kids? My goodness.
    Guess what, Peter? The Obama girls are pretty darn safe wherever they are. That's a given.
    What is key here is that all schools COULD and SHOULD employ or have armed personnel on hand to at least give school personnel and students a fighting chance should an armed intruder(s) arrive with intent to do harm. (The "gun free zone" signs are a joke. Why not just have a sign with a duck in a circle?) That is the real solution to this issue. Not Obama and his anti-gun, anti-2nd amendment cronies going after law-abiding citizens with all his executive orders. As I stated before - NONE of Obama's Executive Orders would have done anything to prevent any of the previous school/mall/etc. shooting. Nada. So, what is the point? The point is, Obama's orders are the foot in the door to even go further. And Obama COULD be the driving force by suggesting armed personnel in schools - but instead he is "skeptical" of such a solution. I think its similar to all the big Hollywood leftie stars who rail against guns, while their armed bodyguards surround them...

    As I stated before: "Wayne LaPierre (leader of the NRA) had this to say: "It's not about protecting your children. It's not about stopping crime. It's about banning your guns. . . PERIOD!"

    GWB: Several hundred thousand dollars for armed guards at a school? I disagree.
    And I don't believe any taxes would have to be raised in order to have armed personnel within school buildings. A school administrator and/or a few teachers willing to be assigned to protect the students should a crisis situation arise with an intruder and/or intruders would suffice. They could go through the necessary gun safety course and target practice. The local police departments would probably be very willing to help assist in various capacities to educated the educators on the proper procedures and protocol for keeping the kids safe and what to do. I bet that most schools would have a volunteer - or two - or three - or four, etc. that would be willing to step forward. I fail to believe that most people want to be sitting ducks in the future at the mercy of whatever nut bag walks into their schools.

    Amy, I'm just pointing out that it's not hypocrisy for us to want the President's children under better protection. They have additional dangers because of the powers of their father. If terrorists are going to target your children because of your power, I want extra protection for them as well. I don't think that's unreasonable.

    WFB, you're right that I can't name any Presidents' children who have been attacked or kidnapped. I'm speaking hypothetically. The President has great destructive power. Is he principled enough not to misuse it in an attempt to save his children? I hope so, but I certainly don't want to find out.

    The NRA's grasp of the obvious ridicules comparison of the Presidents children and ours
    is great for Americans to see... Nothing will out what complete nut jobs the NRA leaders
    are than this... The core NRA members don't approve of this... They are going down the

    Sorry, Mr. Hicks, but I make it a point never to go to the radical leftie Mother Jones site...

    Peter and others: Of course most of us do realize that the president and his family do receive protection 24/7, as they should.
    What I am referencing, and what the NRA ad points out so nicely, is that nut job shooters are targeting public places in which they know people are defenseless. (The "No Gun Zone" signs tell them so!). Why not accord children in school the same safety in school that the president's children are able to have? I am not saying our children need bodyguards around the clock like the president and his family. I know that is absurd.
    What I - and the NRA - am saying is that we know nut jobs target public places - one of which is schools. Let's not advertise a "gun free zone" and instead allow a few school employees access to a firearm. That's it. A fighting chance. Otherwise, all the Executive Orders and laws targeting honest, law-abiding citizes won't do diddly, until mental health issues are addressed.

    have a constitutional right that says I can protect them with guns ! Just a while ago

    Goegreduyba: Thanks for pointing out how Walker still has more Doyle messes to clean up. Don't worry, the grown-ups are running the budget now and all is good. Walker knew when he took office that Doyle didn't just raid the DOT for 7 years, he made the State dependent upon DOT revenue for his other Liberal, unfunded spending excesses. As this report stated in 2005: "the funds pulled from the transportation fund were replaced with bonding, and the interest on that state debt will continue to haunt taxpayers for decades. "

    Conservatives are typically in favor of user fees as opposed to the liberal redistribution of wealth schemes - just ask one. It is no mystery that Doyle literally ran away from public office and disappeared because of the economic mess he left WI in. No need to scapegoat Doyle because he knew he couldn't get re-elected so he quit. The voters asked Walker to fix the problems left behind and we trust that he will. Conservatives are willing to pay for what they use - As soon as liberals are, the State and Country will get back on track.

    Apparently, georgedubya and the lefties assumed Walker was going to play the "I didn't know how bad things really were" card that Doyle and Obama have pulled over on the underinformed voters.

    Kudos to Walker for facing issues head on instead of passing the buck. Lot of work left but with a bill on the floor to prevent future DOT raids, a fully funded retirement plan, lower taxes, State employee benefits still higher than Obama's Federal workers and another balanced budget coming up, things look good!

    GWB: I fail to understand how a proposal (yes, it is a proposal, not a given that it will be enacted in any way, shape, or form) from the Transportation Finance and Policy Commission has anything to do with the blog topic. You are so far off that any more references to such will not post.
    (By the way, Mucho is right on. Wasn't Diamond Jim Doyle the one who, as Gov, continually raided the Trasportation Fund in his budget shell game year after year? the budget ponzi scheme that ended up with Wisconsin in a deep financial hole, which Walker got the state out of and then some?)

    1. Issue a presidential memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

    2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

    3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

    4. Direct the attorney general to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

    9. Issue a presidential memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

    10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

    11. Nominate an ATF director.

    12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

    13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

    14. Issue a presidential memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

BUT he grants exemptions to healthcare mandates o his cronies while mandating us, he sends his kids to private school while denying vouchers to the poor and stiking them in failed programs like Head Start, He wants armed protection for his family and not yours and will use his money to get health are for his family that we can't afford.

    I was referring to when Christie complained about Boehner and not working on getting disaster releif to areas affected by Sandy. I know this bill was stuffed with pork that had nothing to do with hurricane releif that shouldn't have been in it, but I beleive Christies point was why do we wait while they play politics...
    I think it says alot about a politician who is willing to fall on the sword like that for his constituants instead of the usual behavior of blaming the other party for everything.

    Pork in the Sandy bill amounted to $40-60Billion.

    It started with $150mm for fisheries as far away as Alaska and included over $5Billion (more than their annual budget total) in Army core of engineers with no direction on how it was to be spent. About $50Billion of the money was open-ended earmarks with little to no direction or controls over how it was to be spent.

    Christie wasn't reaching across the aisle, he was reaching into the pork barrels and robbing US taxpayers. Nice try, but that is the problem with Washington.

    Great news, sharpaxe! Today ACT10 has been upheld by a federal appeals court. From the AP: "The appeals court upheld the law in its entirety Friday. The judges said the state was free to draw a line between public safety and other unions. The state had a rational basis to protect the public safety unions and the law didn't explicitly discriminate against other public worker unions based on their political leanings, the court said." Of course this doesn't dismiss the frivolous and absurd rulings blocking ACT10 via the liberal judges in Madison However, with this ruling, the stage is set for ACT10 to be re-enacted yet again (just like libs throwing hissy fits via "recalls," now the laws have to be "re-enacted." Funny how the same lefties that told us all after Dems won elections, that "elections have consequences," but the childish lefties themselves cannot accept the "consequences."     I think some are being a little too harsh about Christie and the Sandy aftermath. I'd be pixxed too waiting for over two months of inaction. But I think he should have placed more blame on the Messiah. All the House republicans were asking how was this going to be paid for? No answers. The glaring aspect in my opinion, is the failure of leadership, yet again, from Obama. Remember him touting he would do all he could do, cut all the red tape, blah, blah, blah...and nothing.     The ATF is not a cabinet level department and is attached to the justice department. So it shouldn’t be necessary to have the director confirmed by the Senate.

    Except that our very own Jim Sensenbrenner inserted that clause into the patriot act, the NRA granted him a “Defender of Freedom” award that year.

    The 112 congress was the most ineffective congresses to date, they were unable to complete the standard fare required of all congresses.

    For a good read on the dysfunctional congress there is the book; It’s Even Worse Than It Looks (How The American Constitutional System Collided With The New Politics of Extremism) by Thomas E. Mann, and Norman J. Ornstein.

    One proposal that exemplifies the extremism is the Conrad – Gregg bill in January 2010, which had originally received support from Republicans like McConnell and McCain.

    Until Barak Obama supported the bill then the republicans withdrew their support and killed the bill.

    Since not much has changed in congress with the last elections I believe we are in for more of the same dysfunction that was present in the 112th congress is going to carry over into the 113th.

    The theory that the second amendment is what protects the first goes out the window if the ban on armor peircing rounds is passed. Even though what keeps us safe from a despotic government is the all volunteer armed forces.

    Guns in the home can enable a citizen to protect families from the average degenerate in a home invasion.

    However, when the government is ready to “come for you” and “take your guns” all the guns and armor piercing rounds in the world are not going to save you. Maybe when the constitution was written it could but not anymore. The level of weaponry available to the government far outweighs anything an average citizen could throw back.

    For a few clear examples of the futility of this please Google; Branch Davidian Waco, or Ruby Ridge, or check out the multitude of stories of armed homeowners being killed by police while trying to defend their homes against what they thought were intruders.

    Resistance is futile… well at least armed resistance is futile when it is the government “coming” for you.

    BTW Amy…a free people are…and a free person is…just ‘sayin’.

    I do believe that in the event that Obama and his socialist cronies try to fully destroy America, many in our military and law enforcement would stand up against the "President." Face it, most in the military cannot stand Obama and what he represents right now. We are teetering on the point of ruining the country - rebuilding it as Barry sees fit. And most do not want any part of it. I think that most will not sit on their hands and let Barry do whatever he wants. Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens are the first step, but I think many in the military would do their best to defend the country - against a radical socialist president. We would have the "armored vehicles, aircraft, etc." on our side. I do believe that good will triumph over evil in the end. We won't be another Germany, that kept believing Hitler wasn't "all that bad." We won't be another Germany sitting on the sidelines hoping what was happening wasn't real. We WILL be willing to put a stop to the demise of the country at the hands of Obama.

Keeping guns in the hands of free people with a "right to bear arms" is a deterrent for Obama & Co. The 2nd Amendment is in place to protect the people from a tyrannical government - the kind of government Barry & Co. dream about.

    And P4P: We currently DO have background checks for gun purchases. A waiting period is in place when one tries to buy a gun (legally). Unfortunately, all the gun reforms/new laws/restrictions, etc. are aimed (no pun intended) at law-abiding citizens. Criminals don't go usually through background checks. Criminals have access to weapons via nefarious means (or with help from a leftie newspaper like the one in New York that published an "interactive map" showing where the homes of gun owners were - resulting in break-ins at several of the homes where criminals went looking for guns!).
    No one on my blog site has ever stated we want Voter ID but no "gun buying ID." No one. So don't make false statements like that. You are simply lying.

    MGarber: Allowing a free people to exercise their 2nd amendment rights deters those in power from being able to do whatever they want. As long as the people have a ways to defend themselves from a tryannical government, we will, at least for the time being, be able to keep Obama at bay.

    As for what Barack Obama dreams about - ask Bill Ayers - he wrote the Obama "autobiography" - Dreams From My Father. Obama's real dad was an avowed socialist - and Obama's mom wanted him (Obama) to be brought up in a socialist/communist climate. That is why she sent him off to live with his communist grandparents when he was young and get indoctrinated by Frank Marshall - Obama's mentor and known communist. And socialism and communism have one key point - a few elitists at the top have ALL the power over the little peons - the masses. That IS what Barry wants.
