Listen and learn - this one is especially for the low-information voters among us...
Dr. Benjamin Carson's speech at the recent National Prayer Breakfast runs almost half an hour, but it is well worth the effort to watch:
Dr. Benjamin Carson lives and breaths conservative values. With this prayer breakfast speech, Dr. Carson has succeeded in stirring up the wrath of liberals/socialists everywhere. Just watch Obama - with his arrogant smirk gone, looking down - appearing uncomfortable because Dr. Carson is clearly speaking out against the destructive intentions that Obama has for the country..
Using facts, examples, observations, personal insight, and his own history of growing up in poverty and achieving success, Dr. Carson manages to convey common sense solutions to many of the problems America faces. And he does so in an eloquent and straightforward manner - speaking about the importance of a good education (learning enables one to truly be free), personal responsibility (those two words the lefties hate), love of country (many on the left cannot relate, and we currently have a president who doesn't like the very country he was elected to represent), and a real solution to health care issues (a direct slap at Obamacare).
The conservative movement needs people like Dr. Carson. Just as we need more Paul Ryans and Marco Rubios. With the words and inspiration of such individuals, we will wake up many in the United States who have been lulled into a stupor - a stupor which has allowed a socialist like Barack Hussein Obama to continue in his quest to destroy the very foundation of our great nation.

The whole speech sounds pretty bipartisan to me.
And why can the bald eagle fly so high?
Carl Hicks - Feb 16, 2013 12:56 PM
Health savings accounts issued by the government? Definitely not a conservative value.
That the eagle is able to fly so high because it has a right and left wing is not a conservative value.
I see Obama looking down ( at papers he his holding in his hand) but I do not see any discomfort from what is being said.

From: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnn-panel-asks-if-dr-benjamin-carsons-conservative-speech-in-front-of-obama-offensive-inappropriate/
(Please note: this is CNN - the Communist News Network - and they disagree with your observation, Carl).
Just to help you, here's a blurb from CNN:
"On Sunday, the panel guests on CNN’s State of the Union weighed in on whether it was appropriate for Carson to use the forum of the prayer breakfast to advocate for free market reforms to healthcare and a flat tax code."
Free market reforms to health care (Obamacare) and a flat tax code.
Here's more, Carl (from Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) :
"I think that there is a political correctness that he was trying to use to appeal to a conservative audience,” Schakowsky said. “I think it’s really not really an appropriate place to make this kind of political speech and to invoke God as his support for that kind of view.”
God? Appealing to a conservative audience?
And from the woman who helped team up with Obama during the 2nd Presidential debate:
Whoa,” said CNN anchor Candy Crowley after playing a portion of Carson’s speech in which he linked the biblical principle of proportional tithing to a flat taxation system.
Need more? Watch the video, Carl.
Carl Hicks - Feb 16, 2013 1:25 PM
Unlike conservatives he is saying the government needs to do more to educate ALL Americans even those who cannot afford to educate themselves.
" love of country (many on the left cannot relate," "
Your problem here is your narrow view of what type of America you are willing to love, not others views of what they believe America should be, because we are a free people able to have different views. Did you miss that point made in the speech also?
"and a real solution to health care issues (a direct slap at Obamacare)."
As he gestured towards the president and said we had made a good start on healthcare? He praised it and you call it a slap??

"During this speech — one in which Barack, Michelle, and Crazy Uncle Joe are forced to sit and listen to a man ridicule their very core beliefs in big government — I imagined that Obama sat there stewing while simultaneously wondering, “How the hell is he doing this without a teleprompter?”
But sit there and take it is exactly what Obama had to do, while Dr. Carson made the moral case for smaller government, the flat tax, and a healthcare system that put healthcare in the hands of the people, rather than in the hands of government bureaucracy. He chided Obama for the deficit and our national debt. And all Obama could do was sit there and shoot arrows from his eyes at the good Dr. Healthcare.
See Carl, the speech attacked big government, higher taxes, and Obamacare. Why do you think so many in the media were offended that lots of Republicans were applauding the good doctor? And I did not see Obama with any "papers in his hands" - I may have missed it, but if I did - can you tell me what time in the video these "papers" appear?
Carl Hicks - Feb 16, 2013 2:05 PM
Because they are morons? You know Amy for someone who constantly claims the that the media is dishonest, you sure like to take anything they say that you agree with to heart. I guess CNN (Corporate News Network) can be correct in your mind if you like what they say but are not if you do not.
You didn't see the papers in his hand? Didn't you watch the video? I'm not watching it again just to tell you when,(I will give the hint that it is towards the end that you see them), watch again and pay attention this time. Also note Obama applauds.
ahemmer - Feb 16, 2013 2:37 PM
As for some more "conservative" points made during the speech, how about this biggie from Dr. Carson:
"You make $10 billion, you put in a billion. You make $10 you put in one. Of course you’ve got to get rid of the loopholes. Some people say, ‘Well that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.’ Where does it say you’ve got to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot. We don’t need to hurt him."
If that is not a direct jab at Obama's constant "tax the rich" refrain, I don't know what is...

Watched the video three times now, twice listening to the Dr’s speech, and once watching without sound to take note of the amount of time the president spent “looking down”.
“…with his arrogant smirk gone, looking down - appearing uncomfortable...”
Except for a few glances and a few moments where he looks at something on the table for less than a minute, Obama is watching the good doctor deliver his speech throughout.
“…because Dr. Carson is clearly speaking out against the destructive intentions that Obama has for the country.”
Like I said before it is interesting how people interpret things they see and hear differently.
Minus the jokes (which Obama laughed at like everyone else) the speech was fairly solemn since Dr Carson was discussing issues that face this nation as a whole.
Did you watch the video??
Carl Hicks - Feb 16, 2013 3:02 PM
His attack on big government was that the deficit needs to be addressed. He did not call to cut spending or offer plans to cut it. As I said before this is only a conservative value during democratic presidencies.
I'll give you the flat tax as a conservative value and his talk that a person who only made $10 should pay taxes.
There was not an attack on Obamacare. The Dr. called it a "good start".
Do you support his government supplied HSA plan?
ahemmer - Feb 16, 2013 6:44 PM
From the Drudge Report:
"Dr. Carson often criticized Obamacare and government intrusion in healthcare while President Obama sat in the audience. Dr. Carson encouraged a program where newborn babies are given health savings account as an alternative to Obamacare.
DR. CARSON: Here's my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed -- pretax -- from the time you're born 'til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you're 85 years old and you got six diseases, you're not trying to spend up everything. You're happy to pass it on and there's nobody talking about death panels."
---
I think that Dr. Carson is advocating people being able to contribute their own "pre-tax" dollars to an HSA. If they are truly poor - the government may contribute for them. Otherwise, individuals would be contributing, and in the process would have complete control over their own health care dollars - getting the goverment out of the way. Very similar to an FSA plan.
I do support the plan that Dr. Ben Carson is advocating - getting the likes of Obama & Co. out of the way, and allowing individuals to control their own health care options and costs.

Makes darn good sense for your "loved ones" to do you in before you use up the fund.
Seriously, this is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of. If you are born with a debilitating condition that keeps you from work, you are SOL for the rest of your life.
How totally moronic.
WFB resident - Feb 16, 2013 8:27 PM
from others when talking to you should not be taken as a compliment . Since carl
and jman must believe that morton means smart person ,I thought I should inform
them that moron is like them . Please read the definition in the dictionary before you
use it again . If you do use it again, I will try to teach you that you are probably
using it in-correctly again ! lol...

"loved ones" have made these decisions millions of times. It's called abortion.
Babies have not been given a chance to live at all, let alone 85 years. Ture "loved ones" would not make a decision based upon $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Number one. And also, for the people who were indigent who don’t have any money we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care."
"for the people who were indigent who don’t have any money, we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money."
.... And who is the we part here?....
ahemmer - Feb 16, 2013 10:24 PM
What Dr. Carson suggests is different from what we are doing today. Let those who absolutely CANNOT provide for themselves be helped with their HSA's. Those who CAN provide for themselves can do so - and not have to resort to socialized medicine ala Obamacare - where we are all forced to pay, pay, pay and receive less of a quality of healthcare AND have people determine who lives and who dies (remember, the "Death Panels" that lefties were so quick to dismiss and laugh off when Obamacare was being discussed? - those "Death Panels" now are becoming a reality).
Dr. Carson is correct - let us - we the people - have control of our own health care. People should and can make their own decisions about health insurance/care. Obamacare is just a government power grab and in reality has little to do with honest health care reforms and more do with making individuals more dependent upon government.
ExToDResident - Feb 16, 2013 11:41 PM
Are you suggesting that Obama hangs his head in shame at some point in the speech?
Obama does look at the table top in front of him a few times; it seems to me that he was briefly (less than a minute) looking at something on the table. However, I am not going to pretend that I know exactly what he was doing or looking at during the Dr’s speech.
If you want to believe that he is hanging his head in shame that is obviously your choice to make; it must be amazing to be able to look at someone and know exactly what they are thinking.
I can to an extent read expressions and body language; but to know what someone is thinking!
“...Obama cannot raise his head (and nose) in the air during (Dr) Carson's speech...”
Are you sure you watched Obama because his nose looked pretty elevated to me during Dr Carson’s speech. Especially since he had to look up a little to look at Dr Carson.
