FUNNY! Wonder who actually designed it however, seeing as how the driver is sitting on the right!

If this car gets in an accident, it's a safe bet that it would be Bush and Cheney's fault, too!

Yeah Looks like he is trying to take credit someone elses work once again.
As much as I would like to blame reagan for giving in to auto company lobbiests to loosen mileage restrictions that could have made our country to leader in fuel efficient automobiles. The blame really lies with the corporate leaders of that industry cashing in on the quick easy buck now instead of planning for the inevitable future.

Our auto industry is shameful we really should have let them fail instead of becoming a taxpayer burden. No doubt the former employees on welfare would be money better spent then this form of corporate welfare we see now.

There are those who would like us to believe that the government owns GM. I think it would be more accurate to believe GM and the rest of the auto industry have owned the government for the last three decades. Republicans and Democrats alike were on the payroll. Just follow the lobbyist dollars.

Yes reps and dems are both in lobbiests back pockets.I want to laugh at the us vs them cons/libs atmosphere in this nation today. One tries to blame the other for all the woes when both are at fault for the outcome. Both sides only want more power over the population but enough of this public service message I return you to your normal programming.

jmark...where have you been? If the US gov and the unions don't own GM, than can you tell us who does???

What's really funny is that a car like this (the "Obamamobile") is probably what is going to start coming out of GM. And no one will buy it. I bet many folks won't give up their evil SUV's no matter how hard the government tries to make them.
And GM, because of the tiny, politically-correct "green" cars will continue to lose money, and continue to be fed taxpayer dollars to stay afloat...after all, isn't that the desire of the Obama government? Destroy capitalism and support losing businesses? Examples of such abound - look at the post office situation for a great example.

It won't be the government making them give up their SUV the return of $4 a gal gas will do that.
It would be a shame if when the chevy volt comes to market and people ignore it and continue to buy gas suckers. Be even more of a shame if they do buy the small gas engined vehichles GM plans on building in china for market here.
America should embrace green technology maybe then we could be on top of some type of industry again (well besides weapons sales)

SUV sales plummeted during the most recent period of high gas prices. It's only a matter of time before prices elevate to the point where consumers are forced to abandon the gas guzzling SUV, again. The Europeans have had high fuel prices for decades. You won't see very many Hummers, Escalades, Suburbans, etc, on their highways. A Chinese Co. has recently purchased Hummer and has plans for improving its fuel efficiency. In which case they will turn around and sell it to must-have- BIG-car consuming Americans. So, don't despair Hemmer, there may be a Hummer in your future.

Why are you using the Post Office as an example of destroying capitalism and supporting losing businesses? The Post Office is not a business, it is a service provided by the government for the convenience of it's citizens. If it was run more like a business we would not be getting 6 day a week mail delivery and I'm sure that there would no longer be Post Offices in Merton, North Lake, Ashippun, Nashotah and thousands of other some towns and villages across the country. The auto industry provided what the consumers wanted, big cars that allow the occupants to travel long distances comfortably. This is what our society is geared to. We do not have well developed mass transit systems, we got rid of our neighborhood mom and pop stores in favor of large one stop chain stores on the outskirts of town. When fuel prices started to rise the foreign auto industry was prepared because they provide vehicles that are more suited to a more local level of travel than we do. When the fuel prices rise again, as they surely will, we either change, start purchasing more locally, maybe even start growing some of our own veggies, or we will go broke driving to the big chain stores.

referee33: I use the post office as an example because the post office demonstrates how inefficient the government is at running businesses (services). The Postal Service lost $1.9 billion dolllars last quarter. The government's railroad service (Amtrack) has been losing money for 38 years, and this year's losses are on pace to set a record.*

(*From George Will's column: "We can't tax and spend our way back" in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel 7/14/09)

Service OR business - what matters is that whatever the government does, it is usually inefficient and wastes millions and billions of taxpayer dollars. "Services" that continue to sap taxpayer dollars year after year. In what alternative universe would such losing ventures be allowed to proceed as they have been? When something doesn't work, rather than fix it, throw money at it.... the taxpayers money.... Hmmmm..seems that the Milwaukee Public Schools has that method down pat...

And, in a trickle-down theory, taxing people more and more to pay for things that lose more and more will bankrupt the country. Destroying capitalism in the process, since Obama's government seems intent on taking over the auto industry, health care, and education. If they cannot run the post office effectively, imagine what they can do in those fields!

If it is run so inefficiently, as you claim all government programs are, where is your effort to have it eliminated? Turn mail over to UPS or FedEx. I'd like to hear the public's response to that proposal.

referee33: Concerning the post office, I'd look at streamlining operations. Cutting back where needed. Maybe allow for mail delivery five days per week instead of six. There are lots of ways to improve efficiency. As is usually the case with government programs, efficiency is not a desired goal. Rather, more tax dollars seems to be the best answer everytime.
