My two days with a liberal democrat!
This past week, my small firm had a guest drop in from our broker/dealer in TX for some advanced training by our office. What was most interesting about this meeting was the guest was a deeply passionate liberal democrat. Our guest's parents and siblings happen to be east coast grads and are card paying democrats. So he/she followed suit. But I think I changed his/her mind. Seven hours, face to face and dinner at our house after, made me publish this story. Did we get along? Since Pat (not his/her real name) was from Virginia, I say “you betcha we did hey!”
But how could this be? Maybe because Pat couldn’t hide behind a fake name and attack with the typical liberal hate and smears I get daily here on this blog site since we were face to face. Regardless, Pat was stumped on some of the major issues we discussed about Obama, Iraq and President Bush. All because of unbalanced news from our bias MSM. I believe I changed all that.
Pat said that he was convinced that the recent Iranian uprising was due to Obama’s speech. I asked where he got that idea from. It came from a story in the NY Times and also on MSNBC. Pat said his top news sources were the NY Times, CNN, MSNBC and the MSM in general. No FOX, Rush, Ann, etc. However, Pat did admit that MSNBC was overly liberal and is why that cable news network was dying a slow death. When I asked Pat if the newly found freedom in Iraq and the removal of one of the world’s most brutal dictators helped give hope to the Iranians, a country run by a dictator just like Iran’s but is now free thanks to Bush and the Surge, Pat went silent. Watching a country that was once in the same turmoil as Iran’s but is now not only free to vote, but their vote is actually counted, did not even cross Pat’s mind. That’s because the MSM is trying to hide this truth from anyone that will listen. Here’s the unarguable proof.
This story about Obama’s speech giving the Iranian people the motivation to protest was in the NY Times and reprinted or rewritten all over the US in our dishonest bias MSM. Also in that article was the typical liberal hate and lies about President Bush in that Bush is why there were no protests in Iran before this recent eruption. The lying NY Times said Bush’s “Axis of Evil” speech is how the Iranians “swallowed their criticism of their hard-line regime and united against the common enemy (the U.S.)”
This is where Pat got stumped since he doesn’t watch or read any nonliberal MSM or cable news. After Bush’s 2002 Axis speech, Iran rallied against the regime in 2002 and again in 2003, not “for the regime” as the Times lied about again last week. The student led protests back in 02 and 03 rocked Iranian cities across the nation and turned bloody again as demonstrators demands included democratic reforms. But what Pat failed to remember is that it was the NY Times that reported all these protests back in 2002 and 2003! The NY Times reported that the Iranians were “boldly critical of the government (not for their government) including against Ali Khamenei.” The protesters called for an end to all clerical rule. To further prove the Times wrong and that Obama’s speech had nothing to do with the recent uprising in Iran, I pointed to a survey conducted from Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia into Iran. Here’s what the survey said:
“In Iran, close to 70% of the people favor better relations with the U.S.” (68% to be exact).
“79% of Iranians support a fully democratic system, where the Supreme Leader, along with all leaders, is chosen and replaced by a free and direct vote of the people.”
“For Iran, the consensus popular will to forego nuclear weapons in favor of outside aid and trade creates a real opening. Four out of every five Iranians would prefer the freedom to elect their own leaders, and economic opportunity with international engagement, over building nuclear weapons.” However Iranians want their government to make Western trade and investment a top priority.”
“In another important finding, Syrians also favor peace with Israel (“also” mean Iranians. The story didn’t include the data from Iran where over 60% polled said they do not hate the Jews and want good relations with them. Direct contrast from their leaders),

The Iraq war? All I did was ask Pat to watch this video. Pat admitted to not knowing that these highly liberal democrat politicians ever said what was in the video below. That ended Pat's debate on the spot.

No doubt it was because he/she was as dumbstruck by ignorance as the rest of us.

Unbef#@kinglievable!!!
Since it's unlikely that Pat will offer his/her thoughts on this matter, I guess we'll just have to accept your interpretation of pat's interpretation.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe, the actions taken by the Iranian protesters were a direct result of their own willful self determination? The Iranians are a highly educated, intelligent people. For god's sake, give them some credit for being able to act independently of American influence.
But if you must believe that it was either Bush or Obama's words, or deeds, that compelled the Iranians to protest, wouldn't it stand to reason the Iranians would more likely be positively influenced by the guy who wants to have peaceful dialog with them as opposed to the guy who had characterized them as an evil menace?

Israel may bomb Iran according to your buddy, Joe Biden. Or did Obama come to his rescue again?
