Us vs. Humana Part III
For those of you wanting to wade into all that has happened so far, please feel free to go to the link below. I apologize for the 'messiness' of it due to the fact that there are emails posted from Humana as well as myself. Thus, it gets a little redundant.

I got a response (very quickly) from the Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance office. They are filing a complaint for me against Humana due to the email sent from Humana to me saying that the Wisc. Ins. Comm. Office 'approves' any rates that Humana charges. That is wrong. According to the the Commissioners' office, they do not 'approve' or 'set' any rates for any insurance company. My complaint will be that Humana gave me mis-information and I'm also complaining about the rate increase of +20%.
I would strongly suggest that if you have a problem with your insurance company here in Wisconsin, that you utilize the Commissioner of Insurance office.
I've 'renewed' our policy since we had a deadline of Sept. 30th. That does not mean that I am done trying to find out how they get away with what they do to consumers. I've sent them another email regarding my request for a breakdown of the policy charges per family member. I tried to get them to stop charging us the additional 30% premium for my husband due to his being on a low dose blood pressure pill as well as the female members of our family. Their response was to have me fill out a 'review' form on hubby, but if he is still taking any 'prescription' meds, their answer is he will still be charged 30% more.
On the female 30% additional charge, they replied that females are charged a higher premium due to their 'unique medical needs'. So, I guess that if I were a man and used viagra, that would not cause them to increase my premium by 30%. (Sorry guys, that was the only ridiculous comparison I could come up with)
For some insight into additional complaints on Humana Health Insurance, here's the link to the Consumers Affiars complaint page on Humana. Looks like there are a lot of unsatisfied customers out there. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/insurance/humana.html
I was watching a news program late last night and they had the former Cigna Public Relations guy on it. He has since become a whistle blower for the insurance industry. It was quite interesting to hear his version of how the insurance companies have been working over the years. They answer only to shareholders and Wall Street. Their customer service is based on rejecting 1 out of every 5 claims. They increase their premiums at their will and no one is holding them accountable. They are in so deep with the politicians, that there are few politicians that will take them on for fear of losing their money at campaign time. How on earth did we get to this? What gives any company the right to dictate to their customers what they will and will not pay for and then charge them outrageous premiums so that they have a false sense of security? Where has the so called Government for the People been?
I will keep you updated as I get more info. It would be interesting to see how many of these so called polls of Americans saying that they are satisfied with their Health Insurance are being 'sponsored' by the Insurance Companies. Unless you are working in Corporate America, I just can't see how you can be happy with the money you are spending every month for an insurance policy that is backed by people trying to find a way not to hold up their end of the deal.

Where has the so called Government for the People been?
That's long gone it's government for the profit ....
Exactly why any lobby reforms are simply posturing and never actually do anything to change the situation they pretend to be trying to change. And why the most likely outcome of all this health care debate will end up being to their favor and not "for the people". It is already being proposed to let insurance companies lower the % that they pay out on your medical bills. Some reform measure that would be ...eh?
