More Disaster Relief Teams needed for the South
Just received this from Mary Ann Lee at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI. If you have some time, please think about joining one of the teams. It's an unbelivable experience with lots of rewards for those that have gone. 'Many hands make light work'!
Have a great week!
We received the call to help folks in Atlanta, GA 2 days ago. SP is on site and ready to receive volunteers. If you are able to leave next week or week after to help, please contact Mary Ann Lee at mlee@elmbrook.org. (Atlanta is a 13-1/2 hour drive from Elmbrook. Personal cars would be needed. Gas would be reimbursed up to $50.00 per person.)
From SP
Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Units are on the scene in the Atlanta area, ready to help victims of the recent deadly flooding in the city and surrounding area.
Thousands of people have been severely affected as days of nonstop rain created widespread flooding. Over 1,000 homes have been damaged by floodwaters.
As an aside ... for those who know Jim and Ruth Huston from LeMoyne in Biloxi ... both Jim and Ruth and their son are now victims of the Atlanta flood (see email below).
As I am writing this, Alan Kuhn and three other men from LeMoyne are headed our way. They will help with the clean out at Jimmy's. If time permits they will also help an un-churched/un-employed family up the street that had even more damage.
We are the lucky ones because most of our damage is minor when compared
to many others around Atlanta. I will update on Atlanta as well as work
along the coast as time permits.
