FDA launches new Hearing Aid information website!

Finally!  The Food and Drug Administration has a new hearing aid website.  Thanks to Caroline Ludka from the Milwaukee/Racine HLAA Chapter for sending it my way!  Here's the link:

Isn't it interesting that the FDA considers Hearing Aids a Medical Device?  The Insurance Industry considers them cosmetic devices.  That's how they get out of paying for them if you have medical insurance.  The power of words...

    I almost recieved my new hearing aids on monday the 19th, almost. The left hearing aid was malfunctioning so I had to scheduled another appointment for the 29. But for a little while the world sounded a little bit tinnier. We barely started adjusting the hearing aids when he determined that they were malfunctioning.

    Onlyoneme - Hang in there! And, make sure your audi puts the t-coil/telephone program on there. This will enable you to use any loop system that may be in a public venue. By the way, we are going to start a Loop Wisconsin Initiative here in SouthEastern Wisconsin next Spring. In fact, once we get the details ironed out, I'll post a column on it so that if you want to come and try it out, you will know where we are having it. If you go to my column 'A Loopy Idea that Works', there is a list there of all of the public places in Wisconsin that now have a loop system in place. Will be interesting to see where this goes!
