Why Obama, Pelosi, and our liberal democrats should not run our healthcare.
Why would any American taxpayer want our government, especially this one, to run anything from private to public?
The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 and now it’s broke. The same for Social Security. Nearly 75 years later it too is broke.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are also broke and did this is under 71 years. I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC [Office of the Comptroller of the Currency] and OTS [Office of Thrift Supervision]. I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing."
—Representative Barney Frank, September 25, 2003. Yet liberals keep voting in idiots like Frank. But I guess we can see who the real idiots are.
$1 trillion of our money is taken from us for the war on poverty and transferred to the poor despite the fact this hasn’t worked since it started about 50 years ago. It’s also broke.
Medicare and Medicaid are also broke.
Amtrack is broke.
Cash for Clunkers is also broke and in only one year’s time! All CFC did was take old cars off the road and allow US citizens to buy Japanese cars. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit. How can anyone argue that we are not a “nation of idiots?”
How about this email from my old professor?
For the first time in history, Congress will not allow an increase in the social security COLA (cost of living adjustment). In fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there may not be any COLA for the next three years. However, the per-person monthly Medicare Insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 and to $ 120.20 for the year 2011.
Let's send this to all seniors that you know to remind them not to vote for the incumbent senators and congressmen in the 2010 and the 2012 Elections.
And don't forget - CONGRESS GAVE THEMSELVES A PAY RAISE THIS YEAR...WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT??????
How about Obama’s seven lies in two minutes? Why would any honest American want Obama running anything??
I remember when Al Gore ran against George Bush, Gore wanted to take the surplus and use it for social security, "put it in a lock box". What happened to the surplus and who decided not to use the surplus for social security? I don't see your link to the Democrats, in fact it appears that you are simply against government running any program. Let's cut all government run programs, cut taxes and let Reganomics take it's course.
I remember when Al Gore invented the internet that did'nt work so well ,so he invented globel warming. I hope warming gets here soon so I can stop shoveling in winter
Compridious...I agree that all parties in our government can't run diddly. The proof is in my blog. My concern is that our voters have been duped into allowing a very dishonest group of liberal democrats, Obama and Pelosi in particular, to take over much of our economy and manufacturing and then allow them to control the poor and middle-class through socializing and taking over our healthcare. There is zero chance, as my blog proves, that our current regime will do better than any other when it comes to running our healthcare system.
compridious...one more thing. Bush didn't want to put SS in a "lock box." I saw the same bs on MSNBC and the NY Times. Bush wanted to allow us to invest only some of our SS funds into private sectors through stocks, bonds, etc. And when you hit a certain age, you could no longer invest in stocks. And what most of our so called honest journalists forgot to tell everyone was that none of this was mandatory. You had the right to choices and one was the current status-quo.
Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats, 48% to 44%, in Gallup’s latest update on registered-voter preferences for the 2010 midterm congressional elections. Over the course of the year, independents have grown increasingly likely to vote Republican on this measure.

Oh Yes Social Security funds in the stock market, that would have been a great idea!
I suppose current events never dawned on you Jim-Bot!
Jake...yes current events have if you only count 2008 and not 09 plus the long term trends. And if you would could move away from one media source you would have known some very important facts as to how little SS pays in interest rates, how much has been abused by our government, and that at a certain age, you would not be able to invest in the stock market and even before that age only a percentage of your total SS value could be invested in stocks or bonds under Bush’s plan. And remember, you, yes you Jake, would of had a choice to not chose any stock or bond mutual funds. But because of people like you liberals, we all have to follow the governments choice and that is earn about 1% on our money and then let our elected officials take our funds away. This is why I write as to how liberalism is destroying our country. You can't move away from the other sheep. If you educated yourself, you would have a chance to fix this broken nation.
However, is this another liberal game as to how to ignore my facts with the Obama lies and the failure of our government with everything they have ever run? Is this your way of trying to push healthcare when all the facts show that our government will mess that up too Jake?
More Americans now believe it is not the government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than think it is (47%). This marks the first time this decade when a plurality has not favored the “government responsibility” viewpoint.

"Most polling shows that Americans tend to favor a "public option" in which the government would provide a healthcare plan that would not be mandatory but one of several options for those seeking healthcare insurance."

Jim - I trust the federal government more with my money than a hedge fund manager on wall street.
I have a choice now to put my money into stocks and bonds, What I put in SS is not just for me, but other people as well so they don't starve and die in poverty when they retire. People who have worked their entire lives, but never made enough money to live in comfort like other people, like you are going to be able to
I guess I can't argue with greed. Afterall money is yor real god since you keep on pushing wy Rich people are more superior than non-rich people.
In Wisconsin we have Badger Care for low income people to have health insurance (I don't qualify, but I get to pay for it).I couldn't afford the family plan I had anymore (went to $1500/mo.) so the last 5 years I have gone "cash & carry". When my kids were born when I had other coverage, alot of the expense wasn't covered. I have two kids that were obtained by "easy monthly installments".
Obama spoke about people being a "drain" on the system by not having coverage, and tried using a lame car insurance analogy (not working, dude). I am not a drain on the system.
The way this bill is worded scares me. If it truly was an "option" that would be one thing.( I know, I should "trust" the government...mwahaaahaaa). It states that we would be "required"(red flag) to have "government approved" ( double red flag) insurance. Continuing to go "cash & carry" would be a felony (lose voting rights, anyone?).
If you are in a union you might be o.k, but if you have coverage through work you should be concerned. Once the "greeeeeeedy, eeeeeeevil" companies realize that it would be cheaper to pay the 8% penalty than offer current coverage, they would launch their plan and force employees to take the government "option".
Another thing that scares me is their lack of clarity. It's like handing them a blank check, and letting them fill in the amount/details at a later date.
I hope I'm not the only one concerned with the wording.
Oh, and Jake, I heartily agree with the "real god" analogy. Not only are most people that I know who have alot of money miserable, they have made an idol out of "cash & prizes". Money does not buy happiness.
jmark...your stats are not accurate as you will see in my next blog. I will use your CNN also!
Jake...in all due respect to you since I do enjoy and value your comments, I would walk away from this debate about SS. Each and every time you open your mouth you stick the other foot in it.
Wall Street is my business and nowhere at any time did any politician, Bush included, mention or even hint that a hedge fund manager would be one of your choices with the SS $ we could have used for better returns.
And when you say people like me can live in comfort you need to know all of my success came from me. I was raised by my parents (my dad was a union worker), lived in a bedroom with my youngest sister behind a folding cloth door, and now have the ability to pay back my great mom and dad. I support them financially (my dad passed away) since 1986.
The SS plan was to allow only a portion of our benefits, and once again since you seem to only read what looks good to you, you and I DID NOT have to take the option for investments outside the normal 1-2% in treasuries so the government could steel it from all of us.
Reformed Trucker...you make a very valid point. This is why our government, if we had an intelligent one and an intelligent leader, should first focus on the uninsurable, and those that financially can't afford it. Not the ones who won't pay for it, but can't afford it. There is no reason why the 85% (I included) must have the government tell me what to buy and if not, I get fined and will go to jail. That's 100% accurate if anyone took the time to read Pelosi's bill that the democrats in the house passed last week. And by the thinnest of margins. We can see what will happen in 2010.
However, the bigger picture is my blog and the history of how pathetic our government is with running anything from big too small. Each and every government run program is run with corruption and has failed. Why would any American want our government to run our healthcare? The liberal politicians in Washington only want this so to control the poor and middleclass voters. Nothing is more important to a liberal democrat except the next election. Nothing!
Jim, I did a copy and paste from the exact same source you used. If those stats are not accurate then it is safe to say that neither are yours.
jmark...sorry, you are correct. I copied and pasted the wrong URL. However, your URL proves even more why Americans don't want socialized medicine and my next blog.
Here's what your URL said and thanks for the support with this recent Gallup poll
"PRINCETON, NJ -- More Americans now say it is not the federal government's responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government's responsibility."
