We must NOT profile!?!
A lot of Americans have become insulated from reality - especially the President of the United States and his Democratic cronies. Terrorism? What terrorism? In our desire to be politically-correct and offend no one (well, Christians and conservatives are still fair game, it's everyone else that we must not offend!) where are we headed? What are we setting ourselves up for? In our quest to be kind, compassionate, and open-minded, we must NOT profile! Even though it could save our lives - people's feelings are at stake here, folks!
Let's pause a moment and think how crazy that is.
Here is a simple multiple-choice test. These events are actual occurrences from history. They really happened. Do you remember? If you look really hard, maybe you'll see a pattern...
HERE'S THE TEST:
1) In 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by:
a) Superman b) Jay Leno c) Harry Potter d) a Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40
2) In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by:
a) Olga Korbut b) Sitting Bull c) Arnold Schwarzenegger d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
3) In 1979, 53 people were held hostage for 444 days when the US Embassy in Iran was taken over by:
a) lost Norwegians b) Elvis c) A tour bus full of 80 year old women d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
4) During the 1980's, a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by:
a) John Gotti b) The King of Sweden c) The Boy Scouts d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
5) In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by:
a) a pizza delivery boy b) Pee Wee Herman c) Geraldo Rivera d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
6) In 1985, the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by:
a) The Smurfs b) Davey Jones c) The Little Mermaid d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
7) In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by:
a) Captain Kidd b) Charles Lindberg c) Mother Theresa d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
8) In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by:
a) Scooby Doo b) The Tooth Fairy c) The Sundance Kid d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
9) In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by:
a) Richard Simmons b) Grandma Moses c) Michael Jordan d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
10) In 1998, the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by:
a) Mr. Rogers b) Hillary Clinton (to distract attention from Bill's womanizing) c) The World Wrestling Federation d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
11) On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Center. Of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and forced to crash in a field by the courageous passengers. Thousands of people were killed on that day by:
a) Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd b) The Supreme Court of Florida c) Mr. Bean d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
12) In 2002, the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against:
a) Enron b) The Lutheran Church c) The NFL d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
13) In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by:
a) Bonnie and Clyde b) Captain Kangaroo c) Billy Graham d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40
14) The November 5, 2009 Fort Hood massacre, in which 13 innocent American soldiers were killed, was carried out by:
a) Rachel Maddow b) Rush Limbaugh c) Al Franken d) a Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40
Anyone see a pattern here? Anything to justify profiling? To ensure that we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners are not allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80 year old women, little kids and babies, airline pilots with proper ID, 85 year old congressmen with metal hips, and people like Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss. But leave Muslim males between the ages of 17 and 40 alone!!!
We wouldn't want to be accused of profiling, now, would we???
Lest we forget, our Dear Leader and Commander-In-Chief, Barack Obama, told everyone that the Fruit of Kaboom Bomber - Umar Farouk Abdulmutallah - who attempted to blow up a Northwest/Delta jet as it approached Detroit on Christmas Day was (and this is a quote):
"AN ISOLATED INCIDENT"
I know, it's hard not to scream at the insanity of it all....

By some strange coincident, I think the answers all the same: Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
Is that called "profiling" or just the obvious but inconvenient truth to our liberal democrats?

Jmark--yours is "D" too--but there is a random pattern established. Your group is as much different as in common. They are all MEN though! It can even be argued that these are isolated events with various "target" groups. Amy's list is far more centered around politics/religion/social terrorist crimes perpetrated by "Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40."
And yes, Ref--I agree that nutty, left wing organizations who account for "24%" of terror attacks should be profiled. I recommend deportation!!!

AJ: Both the left and the right have their fair share of extremists who follow no rules in attempting to advance their cause. The main point I'm trying to make, is that to target or profile one specific group based on religion, ethnicity, age or even hair color will not stop these attacks. They will continue as long as there are differences of opinion that cannot be resolved by communication and negotiation.

I did forget one option available for resolving differences besides communication and negotiation, that would be eradication.

And in a comment you state: "The main point I'm trying to make, is that to target or profile one specific group based on religion, ethnicity, age or even hair color will not stop these attacks." No, but it sure would help and give us a chance! To sit back and do nothing solely to be polite and politically-correct is idiotic.
Just as the terrorists are aided by our own idiotic "rules of engagement" that tie our soldiers hands behind their backs. We fight nice - they don't. They know what we can and cannot do - and they use such rules against us. How insane is that? Do we want to win? Or do we want to be nice to the enemy? Unfortunately, what policies and directives I see coming out of the White House from Eric Holder and Barack Obama sure seem designed to help terrorists, rather than our soldiers.

Terrorist attacks are attacks directed on AMERICANS WOLRWIDE and only because of our freedom, religion, and that we are Americans. That's what is called terrorism on the US. Amy’s blog lists real terrorist attacks from Muslim’s who mostly came from outside the US. Profiling is mandatory. And believe me, we do. But mostly with nuances.

We also need other countries to fight against terrorism as strongly as we desire. With Bush winning the war in Iraq (and Obama claiming credit - one of the few times he wasn't blaming Bush for something....) and putting Al-Queada on the run, we were taking the first steps. Then along came OBama, going soft on terrorism and Afghanistan fell apart. Now a surge - wow! (Obama is doing exactly what Bush did in Iraq. Wonder if Harry Reid will declare that the "war is lost" like he did when Bush started the Iraq surge? Oh, but it's OK for Obama....)
Anyhow, I digress.
More countries need to denounce terrorism - strongly. More countries need to monitor closely the Imam's and mosques going up and what activities are going on. Yemen needs to be addressed. And more Muslims need to denounce other Muslims who are radical extremists rather than remaining silent.
In the meantime, we must keep up the fight. When terrorism and terrorists are eradicated and/or kept in check, I would say we would be close to winning. Who knows....maybe we will never reach the point where we can actually say "we won" given the enemy we are facing. Yet, we can make the world a safer place by going after them and not "playing nice."
