Stop Obamacare - here's what you can do!
The Obamacare Health Bill is stalled. Right now, the votes aren't there - even with the nuclear option on the table. Incredible to say the least. The House doesn't like the Senate version of the bill and the Senate doesn't like the House version. And the Democrats don't trust each other to "compromise" once "reconciliation" (the kinder term for "nuclear option") is used. However, Barack Obama - The One - is attempting to work his magic. HE NEEDS this bill to pass. Just to be able to say he - Barack Obama - has actually done SOMETHING as a president - even if it is to get a horrible, damaging piece of legislation dumped on the American people. It is obvious Obama is willing to do anything to get the necessary votes to see this thing through. Recently, Congressman Jim Matheson (D-UT) agreed to support Obama's bill. Congressman Matheson had previously had the good sense to vote "no" on this bill the first time around. The very same day Matheson changed his vote, Matheson's brother - Scott Matheson Jr., was appointed a judge to the U.S. 10th District Court. Apparently, buying votes to support this monstrosity isn't beneath the White House. Somehow this isn't all that surprising.... Although, for the very first time we are seeing some real "transparency" from this Administration!
So, what can we do to stop a government power-grab of our health care system? The Obamacare Bill is something that the majority of Americans clearly do not want. We have voiced our opposition loud and clear for many months, via Tea Parties, calls, letters, protests, etc. The election of Scott Brown was all about the Health Care bill - a big "NO" vote when one was needed. Every poll out there shows the majority of Americans DO NOT WANT OBAMACARE. But even all of this has not been enough!
Obama and his minions do not want to listen to the people.
They do not want to work for the people. Rather, they want to shove something down our throats - solely in order to grab control of one-sixth of the nation's economy. That is wrong. It is bad for our country and bad for our government to be behaving in a manner which goes against the very fabric of the Constitution.
The health care bills as written are a recipe for even more economic disaster than we are currently experiencing.
(The following is from newsmax.com:)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE OBAMACARE PLAN CALLS FOR:
- Cutting $500 billion from Medicare
- Forced rationing of health care
- Raising income taxes to 43% (from 35%) and capital gains taxes to 22.5% from 15%
- Forcing a $2,000 increase in the average health insurance premium
- Forcing young people to buy insurance they don't need or want that would cost over $8,500 per person OR pay 2.5% of their income as a fine for not having insurance OR face prison if they don't do either.
- Taxing medical devices and many medical procedures
- This bill will have a horrific impact on the deficit. Obama is not telling the truth that this bill will be "deficit neutral." The bill will cost $1 trillion over six years and will generate revenues of $1 trillion over ten years. If you run projections out to 14 years, the costs exceed revenues by over $1 trillion dollars. The projections also do not include about $1 trillion in health insurance premiums or fines that the uninsured wil have to pay and about $3 trillion in increased health insurance premiums that that rest of us will have to pay.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what you, as an American citizen, can to do stop Obamacare and save our country from higher health care costs and poorer quality care! (If Obamacare goes through, maybe we'll end up going to Canada for health care procedures instead of the other way around....) You need to pick up the phone and call the following Democrats who are considered "swing votes." They are not a given to vote "yes" when it comes to socialized medicine. That being the case, they need to hear from you! It doesn't matter if you live in their district or not. It doesn't matter if you live in the same state or not! CALL THEM! And tell your friends, neighbors, family, and anyone else who is against this proposed bill for socialized medicine (they won't be hard to find) to do the same. The time is NOW! It appears that March will be the deciding month on whether or not America rises above this blatant government power grab or stands firm against it!

"the nuclear option is an attempt by a majority of the United States Senate to change the rules of the filibuster by invoking a point of order to essentially declare a particular Senate procedure, such as the filibuster, unconstitutional which can be decided by a simple majority, rather than seeking formal cloture with a supermajority of 60 senators or invoking reconciliation."
"Reconciliation is a legislative process in the United States Senate intended to allow consideration of a contentious budget bill without the threat of filibuster."
Jacob Pickard - Mar 04, 2010 6:07 PM
Reconcillation was used by the Republicans in 2001 and 2003 for both of his tax cuts. The first cut could only be passed by the vote of Dick Cheney.
Republicans and conservatives and their blogger minions calling "reconcilliation" the "nuclear option", the same senate legeslative tactic that they used to pass bills that put our country in deficeit after the clinton surpulus, when they already coined the phrase used to kill the fillibuster power of the democrats when the democrats were the minority, is hypocriscy and another case of situational ethics that the rightwing is so good at.
You righties are ethicaly bankrupt on this one, what a bunch of crybaby losers!

I'd still like someone to (honestly if possible) to explain this 1/6th of the economy and socialism BS....anyone? Where in the bill does it say that the federal government will own all the hospitals and pay all Dr.s salaries as it is in a socialist system?
It would be nice if BOTH sides were more open and honest about what their plan is.

The federal government already owns some banks and automobile companies under Obama & Co. Who is to say that hospitals won't become government businesses, too? Destined to lose money, exist on subsidies, and tax people to death... And Obama & Co. HAVE talked about paying doctors a certain rate - see: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124208383695408513.htmDoctors incomes are set to decline by as much as 15 to 20% under Obamacare. Eventually, many will decide to no longer practice medicine, making fewer doctors available and driving health care costs up even more.
The government couldn't manage to turn a profit with Amtrak - started in 1970. Amtrak loses money every year and is funded by.....taxpayers! just to stay afloat. What makes you think the government would have any luck managing and running the health care industry?

Let me help them out. I believe that using the term "nuclear option" to describe the reconciliation process is right on. Consider the fact that reconciliation supposedly CANNOT be used for something that doesn't primarily affect the budget. (That's one of "Byrds' rules" from way back.) Just how reconciliation can be deemed OK for health care overhaul is subject to interpretation. I'm sure Barry & Co. can manipulate socialized medicine to somehow fit that definition....
Seems to me many now are using the term "nuclear option" to express how our country will be set on a path of destruction should Obamacare be passed. In that sense, it's pretty darn accurate! And if the term is used to scare people - so be it - Obamacare SHOULD scare people! And jmark, if my use of the term "nuclear option" is the only thing you can fault regarding my blog - nitpicking on one phrase - I guess I've done a good job.

The rest you say is just suspicion not fact. Don't you feel this is important enough to use facts to draw a decision about healthcare and not misleading people with rumors and inuendos?
Dr's incomes would most likely stabilize or increase with increased patronage due to those previously uninsured now able to use healthcare. And a readjustment of pricing would be inline with healthcare reform due to the fact that prices are higher than they need to actually be to cover costs from the unisured that use medical services they cannot afford to pay the bill for.

Never mind, it's apparent that you just don't understand. Just mindlessly repeat what your told to, and continue with your "sky is falling" hysterics. It's what you do best.

You conveniently forget that TARP was heavily promoted by, and signed into law by Bush & Co.
But no problem. I don't expect you to be responsible for what you write. No consequences here. Obscure the truth as much as you like.
Good job.

I do so tire of the inuendo that Obama forcefully took over GM to remove it's ownership from the private sector. They came begging for their survival, the governement did not go to them and force their hand.
It's arguments like this from the right that makes me lose respect for what they have to say.
I do wonder if there have been any investigations into Amtrak to check for waste and fraud.

jmark and other libs: Funny how times have changed. In 2005, Obama was against the 51 simple majority vote process. He said that method of passing legislation "wasn't what our Founding Fathers intended."
See a few other Dems chime in on the 51 simple majority vote rule:
http://www.breitbart.tv/obama-dems-in-2005-51-vote-nuclear-option-is-arrogant-power-grab-against-the-founders-intent/
Joe Biden even called the 51 vote rule a "fundamental power grab." Whoa. How times have changed!!!
ahemmer - Mar 05, 2010 10:29 AM
Biden: "I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don't make the kind of naked power grab you are doing."
Thank you Joe. Now go talk to your Boss...
