Local Authors' blog on the release of his new book
A couple of months ago, 'Jon' came to one of our Hearing Loss Support Group meetings. He's in the process of starting his 2nd book and is looking at including a new character that has hearing loss. Needless to say, we all had a lot of fun helping him to create this character. More on that as it develops.
'Jon' recently released his first Nationally published book. Here's the information on it as well as a little on 'Jon. For those of you wondering what it's like to actually write and publish a book, Jon's blog has a lot of details on the process from his perspective. Congrats Jon!
“FLESH WOUND” DEBUT NOVEL BY JON SAY RELEASED JULY 15, 2010
Black Rose Writing is excited to announce the release of “Flesh Wound”, the debut novel from Jon Say. Say is a Wisconsin native and Marquette University graduate who recently returned to the state after spending ten years in Los Angeles. A financial executive for over twenty years, Say initially moved to Los Angeles from Milwaukee after meeting the woman who was to become his wife while on vacation in Southern California.
After earning his MBA from Pepperdine University and serving as Senior Vice President at one of the most successful credit unions in Los Angeles (which remains so to this day), Say and his wife welcomed the birth of their daughter. The desire to raise her among extended family and friends turned out to be the compelling reason for their return to Wisconsin, and upon securing a position with a local bank in Milwaukee, Say and his family returned to his hometown.
Eighteen months later, in June 2009, Say’s position at that bank was eliminated as a result of the current financial crisis. Deciding to take the opportunity for writing presented to him by this event, Say turned his lifelong passion for writing into “Flesh Wound”. After reading the manuscript, Black Rose Writing offered him a publishing contract and his dream of becoming a published author was on its way to becoming reality.
“Losing my position at the bank has turned out to be such a positive thing for me,” said Say. “Writing this novel and seeing it published has been exciting, fulfilling, and scary all at the same time. It never would have happened if we’d have stayed in Los Angeles, or if I was still working my conventional career here in Milwaukee.”
Say’s experience in the business world and financial services industry served as perfect background for the plot of “Flesh Wound”. [See synopsis below.] Protagonist Max Chandler is involved in a fender bender on the freeway, and the woman he hits turns out to be a high priced fetish call girl who is ultimately employed by the US Government to “session” with a foreign diplomat in order to assure the continued purchase of US Treasury Bills, which is keeping the US economy afloat.

SYNOPSIS OF “FLESH WOUND”
What if a simple fender bender on the freeway thrusts an unsuspecting ex-Homicide Detective into the world of a high priced fetish call girl, and they both become pawns in a government power struggle with China to keep the US economy from crashing?
Ex-Homicide Detective Max Chandler is trying to figure out how to rebuild his life after getting shot during an armed robbery he stumbled into when off duty. The incident cost him his marriage, his job, and custody of his four year old daughter, Sam. Max literally runs into Faye Monterey during rush hour, and she convinces him to become her needed partner in her lucrative private business. Her wealthy male and female clientele provide the connections that lead the US Government to ask her to “session” with the Chinese Ambassador to the United States to facilitate the continued Chinese purchase of US Treasury Bills - critical to keeping the US economy afloat. But when the Chinese Ambassador changes the rules of the game, Max and Faye must choose between losing their relationship and freedom and custody of Faye’s four year old niece, or letting the US economy crash, putting the nation at the mercy of its creditors.
Foreign diplomats, State Department field agents, the female CEO of the biggest bank in the country, and the owner of a mega-successful gentlemen’s club play key roles in this engaging story that leads deep into the secret world of fetishism, desires kept hidden, and the games played by the rich and powerful.
