Ex-teacher gets prison for having sex with student

Waukesha – Bryan F. Wendt, a former teacher in the Oconomowoc School District, was sentenced today to eight years in prison for having sex with a 14-year-old girl while student teaching at a Waukesha school.

Wendt, 27, of North Prairie, was also ordered by Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Mark Gundrum to seven years of extended supervision to followed his prison sentence.

Wendt was convicted of a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault. Two counts of child enticement and another charge of second-degree sexual assault were dismissed under an agreement with prosecutors.

Wendt met the girl while he was a student teacher at Waukesha Central Middle School about three years ago when she was in eighth grade, according to the criminal complaint. Wendt told police they developed a relationship that evolved into a physical one and had sexual intercourse, the complaint said.

They had intercourse one week before the girl’s 15th birthday in August 2009 and the last time was May 14, 2010 in a van parked at Waukesha South High School.

The incidents came to light May 19, 2010 when school authorities reported a possible sexual relationship between Wendt and the girl, according to the complaint.
