Pirates upset Arrowhead nine
No. 7 seeded Pewaukee knocked off the No. 2 seeded Arrowhead varsity baseball team Tuesday night, 6-3, in the opening round of the WIAA state tournament. The game was at Arrowhead.
The win, the first for the Pirates in the WIAA post-season since 2005, vaulted them into the Germantown sectional on Friday. Pewaukee (13-18) will play at 1:30 p.m.
The Pirates broke open a 2-2 game by scoring four unearned runs in the top of the seventh. PHS bunted five consecutive times in that rally and watched as the Warhawks (20-8) committed three errors.
Austin Hansen went the distance for Pewaukee and tossed a five-hitter. Arrowhead starter Jordan White took the loss.
Austin Kaatz had two hits for the Pirates and Brady Williams had two hits for AHS.
