Woman drives onto Pewaukee Lake, car breaks through ice
City of Pewaukee – A 53-year-old City of Pewaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving after she drove her car out onto Pewaukee Lake early Monday and the car went partially into the water. Susan Schommer, drove a 2005 Acura onto the lake from a boat launch and the drove along the shore until the car went through the ice and started to sink. Schoomer was able to get out of the vehicle and went to a residence on Rocky Point Road where the homeowner gave Schoomer some blankets and called police at 12:02 a.m., according to Capt. Karen Ruff of Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. When Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived, Schommer was cold and stated she did not know why her car was in the lake, Ruff said. Schoomer was cited for first-offense drunken driving.
