With the July 4 fast approaching, please note that Village Ordinance prohibits discharging fireworks without a proper permit. Due to the drought conditions in the area, the Village will be strictly enforcing this provision. Residents should not discharge any type of firework in the Village of Sussex because of the increased risk of starting a fire due to drought conditions.
Although fireworks are often considered to be an important part of the Independence Day celebration, please keep in mind the danger to neighbors and surrounding natural areas during a drought. Police will be monitoring the Village for illegal discharge of fireworks and will issue tickets to violators.
The Village of Sussex plans to continue with the official July 4 firework celebration at Village Park on July 4, beginning at 9:20 pm . The Sussex Fire Department will be on site during the celebration to monitor the fireworks and conditions. This is subject to change based upon direction of the Fire Chief for safety of the public.
Please look to the Village website for official notification on the Village of Sussex Fireworks .
