Daniel Koepke faces new sex assault charges in Waukesha County
Daniel S. Koepke, convicted in Washington County last November for exposing himself to his six-year-old cousin and masturbating on her bed, was charged on Thursday with allegedly groping another underage girl in the Village of Sussex sometime between 2010 and 2011.
Koepke, 18, was charged on Feb. 14 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with first degree sexual assault, contact with a child under age 13.
Koepke, previously residing in Sussex, began serving his 22 month prison sentence for his previous conviction on Jan. 24, according to online criminal records.
If convicted of first-degree sexual assault, Koepke could face up to 60 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint:
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department received information from a woman, who was not identified in the complaint, that her daughter’s friend had been inappropriately touched by Koepke.
The 14-year-old girl told police the incident occurred in the summer before she entered seventh grade or during seventh grade and she was either 12 or 13 years old at the time.
Her brother had invited a large group of friends over to spend the night, including Koepke. She was, “the little sister who wanted to hang out with her big brother,” the complaint reads, and so she slept in the room with the boys.
She fell asleep alone, she said, but when she awoke Koepke was allegedly laying with her and had placed his hand down her shirt and his other hand on her buttocks, outside of her pants.
She said she thought she was dreaming and rolled over to face the defendant. She began to fall asleep again and Koepke allegedly became more aggressive in his groping.
He allegedly then noticed she was awake and pulled away. She told police she asked him, “Why would you do that?”
She left the room and the defendant allegedly later texted her saying he was sorry and it would not happen again.
The following summer, the girl said Koepke allegedly texted her asking if she wanted to have a water balloon fight because he wanted to see her in a swimsuit. She did not respond and said she has been avoiding Koepke since the alleged incident.
She said she did not immediately tell anyone about the alleged incident because she did not want to hurt her brother, who she loves.
On July 12, 2012 Koepke was baby-sitting his aunt’s children in the Town of West Bend. While the children were under his care, he exposed himself to his six-year-old cousin, touched her inappropriately and then masturbated on her bed, according to the criminal complaint.
Koepke pleaded no contest to charges of incest with a child and causing a child to view a sexual act on Nov. 15, 2012 and was sentenced to 22 months in prison and 5 years extended supervision.
Charges of first-degree sexual assault were dismissed in that case.
Koepke’s next expected court date is Feb. 28.
