Mukwonago stabbing suspect changes plea
The 29-year-old Town of Mukwonago man accused of stabbing Samantha L. Peterson repeatedly in her car outside his aunt’s home Sept. 5 changed his plea yesterday. David A. Wapp appeared in court Oct. 29 and changed his plea from not guilty to not guilty by mental disease or defect. Wapp is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Peterson’s death. According to the criminal complaint and testimony by a witness, Peterson told Wapp, her ex-boyfriend, to get out of her car during an argument. Wapp then stabbed her, went back into his aunt’s house and then returned to the car, stabbed her again and cut her neck until she was dead. The Sept. 5 incident took place just days after Wapp was released from prison. Both the State and defense will have independent evaluations done of Wapp. A hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 10. Wapp is being held in custody at the Dodge County Correctional Institution in Waupun.
