Pewaukee hosts Reedsburg Saturday
Pewaukee's undefeated varsity football team, sporting an impressive 10-0 record, will most likely face its toughest test of the season on Saturday when they host Reedsburg (7-3) at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to the third round of the WIAA Division 3 state football playoffs.
Reedsburg was a state semifinalist last season. Reedsburg whipped Wisconsin Dells on Tuesday in the first round (35-0) and Pewaukee downed Whitewater 46-22.
Pewaukee is 10-0 for just the second time in school history. Last year's team was the first ever to win its first 10 games.
The Pirates are led offensively by senior quarterback Patrick Bacon, senior running back Bryan Spakowicz, junior running back Derek Watt and senior receiver Mike Olewinski. On defense, Spakowicz, Watt, Olewinski, Josh Fritchen, Austin Sternad, Kent Girmscheid and Travis Decker have had big seasons.
