Pewaukee earns third-straight state berth
The Pewaukee wrestling team punched its third striaght ticket to the WIAA team state meet with a pair of wins Tuesday in the Division 2 sectional at Whitewater.
The Pirates defeated Campbellsport in the semifinal, 30-26, wrapping up the victory when Kent Girmscheid registered a pin in the penultimate match at 215 pounds.
Girmscheid again tallied the clinching points in a 32-22 win over Valders in the subsequent final.
The Pirates will battle Lodi at 1 p.m. March 6 at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse. A win puts the Pirates into the state championship match against either Oconto Falls or Ellsworth.
