Hamilton girls upset Arrowhead
Visiting Sussex Hamilton's varsity girls basketball team upset Arrowhead Tuesday night in the opening round of the WIAA Division 1 state regional, 46-42.
The win vaulted the Chargers (14-9) to Saturday';s regional title game against host Milwaukee Vincent. Vincent is the three-year defending state champions.
The loss ended the AHS season with a 10-13 mark, its second straight losing season.
Arrowhead had defeated Hamilton three weeks ago in a nonconference game, 47-37.
Sussex was led by Courtney Lemon with 12 points, Stephanie Kirchner 11 and Kerry Sullivan 10. The Chargers iced the game by sinking 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Junior guard Jessica Goetz led the Warhawks with 16 points. Nobody else had more than 5 points.
