Pewaukee girls advance
Pewaukee's varsity girls baskebtall team advanced to the WIAA Division 2 regional finals Thursday night by defeating visiting Jefferson in a regional semifinal, 68-58.
The win vaulted the Pirates (21-2) into Saturday's title game at Waukesha North at 1 p.m. against Lakeside Lutheran (20-3). The winner of that game will move into the sectional, set to begin on Thursday, March 18 at Waukesha West at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will play in the sectional title game on Saturday, March 20 at Waukesha South at 1 p.m.
On Thursday night , Pewaukee led 31-30 at halftime before outscoring Jefferson 22-13 in the third period. The Pirates stayed in front the rest of the game.
Sophomore Jordyn Swan led the winners with 20 points. Shannon Kalamarz chipped in 15 points, Hannah Frett 9 and Emily Wirth 8.
