Arrowhead tops Falls in epic sectional final
The Arrowhead boys basketball team will make its third appearance at the WIAA Division 1 state tournament after surviving a remarkable 50-48 victory over Menomonee Falls before a packed Al McGuire Center on Saturday.
Michael Skarie drove the paint and scored with 3 seconds left to give Arrowhead the lead. Falls (21-4) ran the length of the floor in the time that remained, and John Cording's pull-up 3-pointer from the top of the key rimmed short.
JP Tokoto scored 23 points for Falls and hauled in 10 rebounds, but the Indians were limited to 28 percent shooting. Still, Falls led by 1 point with 1:04 to play after Adam Rubatt buried a 3-pointer, and Andy Fox hit two free throws to give the lead back to the Warhawks. Tokoto split a pair of freebies with 21 seconds left, leading into the Warhawks' final possession.
Arrowhead (22-3) will face Verona in the WIAA quarterfinals Thursday at the Kohl Center in Madison, with tip scheduled for approximately 8:45 p.m. Replay the live blog here.
