OHS Play wins seven state-wide awards
Cue the red carpet and the paparazzi - Oconomowoc High School's fall production of 'Into the Woods' has won seven of the 12 Tommy Awards it was nominated for.
The Tommy Awards are a state-wide musical theatre competition put on by The Overture Center in Madison. The 2010 Tommy Award winners from “Into the Woods” are:
Outstanding Musical
Outstanding Direction – Thomas Klubertanz
Outstanding Lead Performer – Anna Herro (Little Red)
Outstanding Lead Performer – Hanna Gaffney (Witch)
Outstanding Lead Performer – Cria Ama (Cinderella)
Outstanding Lighting Design – Michael Duncan
Outstanding Costume Design – Cheryl Fillmore
Honorable Mentioned Supporting Performer-Scott Fillmore (Cinderella’s Prince)
Honorable Mentioned Supporting Performer--Tyson Monroe (Baker)
"Theatre professionals from around Wisconsin and Chicago spent the past six months reviewing productions from throughout the state, and selected us as the winners in these categories. This is a huge honor for our theatre department and our school district! We are most proud of the Best Musical win, as that is an ensemble award...and lets us know that all the members of our company are striving for excellence in the arts--and succeeding!" said Tom Klubertanz, OHS theater director.
