Have a sundae, Sunday in Pewaukee.
“Ice cream social” conjures thoughts of women wearing long dresses with bustles and wide-brimmed hats holding parasols in the park while they daintily nibble on their icy treat. It’s a wonderful pastoral scene that can be recreated this Sunday, July 18 – only participants need not be so formerly dressed as in days gone by. This Sunday’s social, sponsored by the Pewaukee Historical Society, is from noon to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Clark House, 206 E. Wisconsin Ave., Pewaukee. The stars of the show include sundaes, cones and floats to be enjoyed on the grounds plus Mrs. Clark’s Pie Pantry featuring whole pies to be enjoyed later at home. Added attractions include demonstrations of old-time ice cream making using ice harvested from Pewaukee Lake, a display of items found in Pewaukee Lake, lectures on Waukesha Beach and the Old Watertown Plan Road, a one-man band and silent auction. The Clark House Museum will also be open. For more information, call (262) 691-0233.
