Stoughton man killed in Jefferson County crash
Jason Pruitt, 36, of Stoughton was killed after his car struck a tree on Highway C near Retzlaff Road in the Town of Oakland early this morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
When officers arrived, the car was engulfed in flames. Cambridge Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Fort Atkinson paramedics also responded.
Officials got the call at about 4:02 a.m. Friday. Deputies' investigation indicates that the 2007 Toyota Scion was westbound when it crossed the centerline, slid through a ditch and struck a large tree. The crash caused the fire, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Pruitt was pronounced dead at the scene.
