Hospice care offers support for grief-stricken during holidays
Although holiday events are meant to be filled with joy, it's important to recognize that they might also be emotionally difficult and painful for those who have experienced the recent loss of someone close to them. But having support and care from others who understand the dynamics of grief can help bring out special moments that might not otherwise be possible.
Rainbow Hospice Care is available to provide grief support through drop-in group meetings, phone support and one-on-one counseling facilitated by professional bereavement counselor - before, during, and after the holidays - free of charge; for all who need it. And in addition to ongoing grief support opportunities, Rainbow Hospice Care also hosts an annual community event dedicated to helping people who are experiencing grief during the holidays.
All are invited to gather with Rainbow Hospice Care staff members and others who have lost someone special this year. "Remembering and Grieving during the Holidays" will be held in two sessions Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the community room on the lower level of the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center, 1225 Remmel Drive, Johnson Creek. The first session is from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and the second is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. During the first part of the program, staff members will share thoughts, tools and tips that can help you better cope with the coming holiday season. During the second half, the group will take time to remember loved ones who have died. Refreshments and conversation will follow.
RSVP by calling (920) 674-6255. Additional details about all of Rainbow's grief support services can be found online at www.rainbowhospicecare.org.
