Knickerbocker hockey tourney needs teams

The second annual Knickerbocker Adult Pond Hockey Tournament, held at Sandy Beach in Lake Mills, is accepting team registrations for a Jan. 28 tournament (weather date will be Saturday, Feb. 4).

Registration is $50 per team, and teams will consist of five players maximum. Teams will have a three-game guarantee, with a 3-on-3 format. Awards will be presented to division champs and the overall tournament champions. Divisions consist of all skill levels, male and female.

"The annual hockey tournament has become a great addition to our Knickerbocker events," said Katie Otto, interim executive director of the Lake Mills Main Street Program. "The Knickerbocker event has spread out into two weekends, providing a fun, family-friendly destination for our cold Wisconsin winters."

Other related events include the Knickerbocker Ice Carving Exhibition on Sunday, Jan. 29, at Tyranena Brewing in Lake Mills, Knickerbocker Trivia Night on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Lake Mills City Hall, and the main attraction, the Knickerbocker Ice Festival, on Saturday, Feb. 4, at various locations in Lake Mills.

Hockey team registration is encouraged as soon as possible to get teams in the lineup for the Jan. 28 event. Contact Tournament Director Steve Baumann at urabiff@charter.net or (608) 575-8384 to register your team.
