Three companies honored for commitment to wellness

Being well is made easier when you are surrounded by those who share similar goals and can help make good choices. With this in mind, Fort HealthCare is encouraging businesses and other organizations in the area to promote wellness in the workplace.

Three local companies have been honored: Ball Corp. and Cygnus Business Media, both of Fort Atkinson, and Poymer Technologies of Whitewater.

The Commitment to Corporate Wellness award was created as part of Fort HealthCare's mission to improve the health and well-being of our community. A main component of that goal is keeping people in the workforce healthy and productive. This award recognizes that significant steps have been taken by local employers to create a healthy workplace, there is support from the highest level within the organization and numerous policies and programs exist to enhance the well-being of employees.

Each company honored has demonstrated commitment to wellness through employee programs focusing on at least four dimensions of the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental and occupational.) "Each of these companies continues to embrace employee wellness with improvements to on-site programming," remarked Sharon Rateike, employee wellness coordinator at Fort HealthCare. "Examples include annual screenings, risk assessments, health fairs, on-site education, supportive management and employee input."

This latest group of recipients joins previous winners Spacesaver, Digi-Star and Nasco as local companies committed to employee well-being.

Healthy employees have more energy, greater levels of camaraderie, increased productivity, reduced levels of injury, greater motivation to perform and lower healthcare costs.
