'White horse' gift exchange at holiday gala

Time is running out to reserve a spot at Southern Kettle Moraine Horse Trail Association's holiday celebration Nov. 10 at Randy's Restaurant and Funhunters' Brewery in Whitewater.

A 6 p.m. cash bar will be followed by a buffet dinner at 7 . A "white horse"(aka white elephant) gift exchange will be a new activity at this year's holiday gala.

"Scour your tack room, basement or closets and wrap a horse-related object that you no longer use or want," said Susan Press, one of the event organizers. "Wrap the present so no one will see what they are getting, and don't mark who it is from."

Checks for $26 per person, including tax and gratuity, payable to SKMHTA, should be mailed to Glee Hansen, SKMHTA treasurer, 414 W. Main St., Palmyra, WI 53156. After the Nov. 1 deadline, availability can be confirmed by calling Hansen at (262) 470-2423.

SKMHTA members and their horses wore Halloween costumes for a ride into Palmyra on Oct. 27 during a weekend campout at Horseriders Campground. They rode back to the campground for a potluck dinner and bonfire.

SKMHTA's annual meeting is scheduled for Jan. 13 at Forest Headquarters, Highway 59, Eagle. Coffee and pastries will be served at 9:30 a.m., followed by the meeting at 10.

More information about SKMHTA is available at www.skmhta.com or on Facebook.
