Genesee Church turns 170
Five years before Wisconsin became a state the first meeting of the Genesee Church took place. On May 7, 1843, in a home just outside of North Prairie, 16 people celebrated a worship service. The eight Presbyterians and eight Congregationalists discussed for nearly a month what their church would be founded upon.
Kettle Moraine graduate found future in opera
Saira Frank always loved music. A 2002 graduate of Kettle Moraine High School, Frank participated in orchestra and choir throughout her years there, but when her voice teacher encouraged her to pursue a degree in music, Frank hesitated.
Wales church celebrates 100 years
It was a late-May Sunday in 1913 when Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, then called "Third Jerusalem Church" opened its doors to its congregation. Nobody remembers whether the sun was shining through the large, detailed stained-glass windows on May 25, 1913, but "I'd love to know what the weather was like," said church member and honorary historian Becky Gapinski.

On Tuesday, April 16, 90 Kettle Moraine High School students visited Aurora Medical Center in Summit with teacher Rebeccah Schmidt. The students were from the first two courses within the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences program: Principles of the Biomedical Sciences, and Human Body Systems.

The Kettle Moraine School Board is seeking community input as it moves forward with the next steps in the district's master-planning process to assess current facilities and technology needs.

The learning communities of teachers Lynne Mayer, Reghan Guenther, Marjorie Russell, and Jenny Gliniecki at Wales Elementary have been collaborating throughout the year to increase student achievement and student engagement in science and social studies.
Generac posts big numbers
Last week Generac shares rose nearly 10 percent after posting big numbers for their first-quarter profit. The better-than-expected results were a 69-percent increase, or 44 cents per share difference over the same quarter last year.
Generac builds 1,000,000th generator
On Feb. 27, Generac Power Systems celebrated the creation of its one millionth home backup generators at its Whitewater plant.

Genesee - Catherine's Corner is about to get a little bit sweeter. Oconomowoc resident Amy Gazdecki will be opening Amy's Delights sometime next month in the space currently occupied by Lilies Place.
Generac withdraws plan to sell 11 million shares shortly before opening bell
Shares of Generac Holdings Inc. rose before Tuesday's opening bell, after the generator maker announced that a secondary offering of 11.5 million of its shares was being withdrawn.
