Cozy atmosphere remains at former Lilie's Place as new Amy's Delights
Oconomowoc resident to take over Genesee shop
Genesee - Catherine's Corner is about to get a little bit sweeter. Oconomowoc resident Amy Gazdecki will be opening Amy's Delights sometime next month in the space currently occupied by Lilies Place.
Two and a half years ago, Cathy Witkowski became part owner of Catherine's Corner and opened Lilies Place, a coffee and wine café. About a month ago, Witkowski decided to return to selling real estate full time instead of part time like she had been. She began searching for someone to take over thecoffee shop and found the perfect fit when she met Gazdecki who is now leasing the space.
In addition to running the coffee shop, Gazdecki will offer light lunches including soups, salads and sandwiches, and an assortment of baked goods such as cookies, pastries, muffins, biscotti and bars. She will also offer high tea, complete with tea sandwiches and shortbreads. Each day will feature a different latte special.
Each month, Gazdecki will feature select wines from a different vineyard from around the world. Wine-tasting events will be held every Friday and Saturday nights. Guests may sample wines and learn (and sample) hors d'oeuvres that pair well with each. Amy's Delights will also host craft beer tastings with food pairings which can be enjoyed at the shops while watching sports games. Each of the tasting opportunities will feature an educational component "based on the artistry of making the different wines and different beers," Gazdecki said.
The space where the ice cream shop used to be will be renovated into the kitchen. Classic American cookies such as chocolate chip, sugar and peanut butter will be made in-house, and sold either in the store or online. People may also place orders of cookies for any event, from birthdays to showers, or just a little something to say "thanks." The space will also accommodate lunch preparations.
Amy's Delights will offer a build-your-own gift basket which can be filled with cookies, wines, Alterra coffee beans, syrups, jams, spice mixes, salsas and more.
"(Amy's) going to continue to do many of the things that Lilies Place/Catherine's Corner has done in the past," including art shows and the annual Easter egg hunt, Witkowski said. She added that she will still be involved with those events.
Gazdecki will offer private parties hosted at Amy's Delights, with either your own food or their catering.
The shop will stay casual and family friendly, and much of the décor will stay the same.
During the month of December, Amy's Delights will host an art show featuring works from St. Paul's students.
"Everyone thinks of (Lilies Place) as their home," Witkowski said. Gazdecki said that she will continue to provide that warm, cozy atmosphere. We're welcoming (people) into our home," she said.
"Once she's in here it will be even better," said Witkowski of Gazdecki.
Gazdecki is looking to hire baristas, cookie decorators and a pastry chef.
